Oh no doubt about it, that would be a great option if it could ever be done, and im sure we are not the only people who would like something like that to be possible at some point.

I tried that mod out, it looks amazing, but being a WW2 era CV, it doesn't have what you would expect for catapults, it has 2x hydraulic bridle line cats, which are not functioning. In WWII the carriers steered into the wind, and the Aircraft's engine combined with the headwind created more than enough lift to get the plane in the air at their max combat weights. I haven't heard of US Fleet Carriers having catapults until jets started entering the naval scene. Even the B-25's of Doolittle's Raid used no catapult system to launch off the deck, granted they had to pull almost all defensive .50 cals to achieve this with a full bomb load and enough fuel to get to Tokyo. EDIT: Just found this info: Before World War II, although carriers were fitted with catapults, takeoffs were usually accomplished by a deck run rather a catapult launch. It was quicker and to a small extent safer since catapult failures were not unknown. However, as airplanes got heavier, requiring more distance to take off, and more of them were crowded on deck, resulting in less distance for a takeoff run, the catapult launch became more the rule than the exception. While the CV-6 was equipped with 2x hydraulic bridle line catapults, and one hangar deck cat of the same make, they rarely saw use unless the deck was really full, and the planes loaded to combat max or max launch weight.

This is true, however, its a simple little bit of video sorcery and editing to get gun-cam only footage if you wanted to, i kinda wish the P-51D had this option, i would love to make a couple "Vintage" style gun-cam videos.

How come there's no F16 / F22 in the game?
Ripcord03 replied to chlywly's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It cant be too much of a Problem, A-10C Thunderbolt II is a combination of Fairchild/Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin. LM actually helped do a majority of the upgrades from the A to the C varient. or rather the are the lead on the partnership team that does the upgrades. Quote from LM on the A-10C: "Since 1997, the U.S. Air Force and Lockheed Martin-led A-10 Prime Team have worked closely to significantly digitize the A-10A Thunderbolt II close air support fighter to its A-10C configuration, enabling employment of new GPS and inertially-guided munitions, fingertip control of aircraft avionics and integration of Litening and Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods through a program called Precision Engagement (PE). The improvements automate many functions (navigation, weapons employment and communications) previously performed manually by the pilot, while also providing enhanced situational awareness and the ability to deliver precision-guided air-to-ground weapons. The upcoming addition of a Helmet Mounted Cueing System (HMCS) in Suite 7 will allow for even greater efficiencies in targeting and situational awareness. The most extensive upgrade in the A-10's celebrated 35-year history, Precision Engagement combined multiple upgrades into a single contract award. Awarded to Lockheed Martin in 2001, the government-industry partnership has enabled the modifications to be completed earlier than planned and at lower cost." Although that may be why we will never get HMCS in the A-10C xD From Grumman: "In 1987, the ™A-10 OEM Team and all A-10 assets were acquired by Grumman Corporation from Fairchild Republic Company, and are now part of the Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Eastern Region, presently partnered with Lockheed Martin Systems Integration as a member of the A-10 Prime Team." -
Or they could do what RAZBAM did with the M2C, release the F5E with what they have of the manual, list the manual as an Incomplete/Inprogress item, and let us test it as is? I dont care either way, as I own the module, and as much as I would love to fly it right now, Its their choice on what they do, and I honestly dont mind waiting either. Either way i will get to fly it eventually. :)

DCS: F-14A/A+/B by Heatblur Simulations coming to DCS World!
Ripcord03 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
personally, i have the mirage already, and 100% will be buy a tomcat when it becomes available. just haven't decided if i want the F-5E. I love every plane in this game, only a couple that i haven't bought yet, the Mi8, the Mig 15 and the L39C and obvious the F5E. But the tomcat was my first love when it comes to fighter jets. (When it comes to all planes its the P-38L with the Mustang in a close second, followed by the B-17, then the tomcat). I always loved the design, and abilities, not to mention top gun being one of my all time favorite movies.... -

A sneak peak of .. Leavu3
Ripcord03 replied to RvEYoda's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
yep version was updated, compare your version.txt to the download pages version.txt to verify. (just double checked looks like both dcs-remote and leavu3 needed updated for me.) -
actually, from what i have found, you don't need to use the left tank on startup, but rather, they use it because the carburetor overflow tube runs to the left tank and if the left tank is full the overflow can't run into the left tank and therefore just leaks out and is wasted. The left tank fills at about 10 gallons/hr when using any other tank, if its full that fuel will just get wasted. Most checklists i have seen on require the left tank to be used when the tanks are full. Of course i dont know how in-depth DCS modeled the fuel system on the mustang.

[DCS World - A10-C] - RWR Audio Expansion
Ripcord03 replied to Tetra's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Its working for me as far as I can tell... They changed the file path from 1.2 to 1.5 for the params file. here is my JSGME Folder structure for 1.5: Parameters File: \_MODS\RAE_MOD\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\AN_ALR69V\device For 1.2 the params file path was \_MODS\RAE_MOD\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\AN_ALR69V\device Sounds go in the same file path as 1.2, but you need to change the params file path from ....\aircrafts\... to ...\aircraft\... (See bold part on my JSGME file structure) -
