  1. Ah ok cool, that makes sense, thanks
  2. I'm curious about what happens when a flight in formation enters combat. Do they hold the formation they are in on arrival, do they transition to a different formation before/during combat or does each pilot prosecute the situation as they see fit (while obeying orders) and rejoin after? Apologies, this must be a basic question, but I haven't been able to find an answer to this anywhere. Thanks for reading.
  3. 6 and 3 for the panic button is correct, and I did neglect to mention it should be used in response to an unknown type of missile in the air, thanks for elaborating
  4. The countermeasures section of the manual (from p186) covers the settings pretty well, but I'll try to give a TL;DR version of how I use this: Countermeasures Panel: "Modes" (Sabre mode switch) - square (middle) "BR" (Sabre master switch) - M (on) "D.A." (RWR) - M "D.2M." (Missile launch detector) - M "LL" (Spirale mode switch) - S.A. (Semi automatic) 11 position dial: A (Off) I then use the panic button to dispense as needed, and this will dispense both chaff and flares. Notes: The manual states that the automatic Spirale decoy programs don't work AIM-120 AMRAAMs can home on jammers like Sabre, so I bind the "jammer Activate/standby" toggle to a button so I can use it selectively in case I fight someone using AIM-120s.
  5. Sorry for wasting your time, I just found the problem. At some point I seem to have turned down the 'in cockpit' sound to zero in stable, which is why I was getting a different outcome in OB.
  6. I am getting the lock and "TIR" cues in the hud, but I don't get the tone at all. I don't get the tones for hostile locks and missile launches either. The tones are all present when I play in OB and as far as I can see my settings are identical, but doing exactly the same content is giving the results above. I should have mentioned I haven't been getting the caution or warning tones either.
  7. Thanks, didn't think of trying OB, it's working there but not in stable for some reason. Tried it on exactly the same content too...
  8. I'd rather not ask a question that's already been asked and answered, but it's tough to work out which older bug reports are resolved or on the list to be resolved in an upcoming update. Is there a bug tracker or equivalent here? I'm not getting warning or lock tones, issues that appear to have been common but I don't know whether this is supposed to be current or not. I do have the "Miss" knob turned up and audio warnings turned on. If there is a current thread for this problem, or a bug tracker that I missed, if someone could point me towards it I'd appreciate it.
  9. Ah ok cool, thanks for explaining that, much appreciated
  10. I didn't think about getting to refill the external tank and I didn't know the fbw could be changed with an empty tank, thanks!
  11. Haha, I did wonder about that! I can just imagine some unlucky guy getting crapped on by bird, thinking “great, what else could go wrong?” and looking up...

    F-15E?

At very high speed I expect
  13. That's exactly what I wanted to know, thanks for clarifying :)
  14. The air-to-air training mission suggests that we should jettison the RP-522 external fuel tank in order to minimize drag and gain the chance to activate the FBW air-to-air mode. Is this an optimization we get the liberty to perform thanks to flying in DCS as opposed to real life, or is this tank usually jettisoned in real life too? Can anyone guesstimate the cost of these tanks (eg 1k, 10k, 50k etc)? Neither question is super important, I am just curious.
  15. I am indeed in the Mirage atm and was seeking an answer to this exact question, hopefully someone knows and will answer.
  16. I hope you're right. In the Viggen, aside from the few words that are very similar to English I was totally lost after about six weeks, so it was a choice between using the English mod and giving up on that a/c. I laughed so hard so often remembering a system was called "Automatisk Fart Kontroll" the time was not a total waste. I am trying again with the M2K at the moment, I can retain "A" for off and "M" for on but that's about it so far. Still, high hopes :pilotfly:
  17. I wish I were able to work with foreign language pits. I hadn't thought it would be that onerous so I tried for months with the Su-25T in Russian, I did try with the French for some time in the M2K (and am trying again now) and Swedish in the Viggen after, but I struck out on all three. If I could work with the pit in its native language I would prefer to, I see how having the language as it was seen in the real thing would be part of the a/c's character, this is very much a case of unable rather than unwilling.
  18. Tacview is awesome! Such a great analysis tool, thanks for alerting me to it :)
  19. If I understand you correctly, I think we're in agreement that the English cockpit was committed to in order to sell to people who wanted the English cockpit. If they hadn't done so I wouldn't be complaining because I wouldn't have bought the module.
  20. If RB promised it, you're entitled to it. If I'd bought the module without considering my need for an English language cockpit and then started griping about needing one that would be on me, but as I pointed out, I looked and confirmed there was an undertaking to provide a cockpit before buying, hence my feelings on this.
  21. Glad to see it. Thanks for posting this, if you hadn't I wouldn't have known.
  22. Mission is great now, cheers!
  23. Very much appreciated Defeatist. These are changes I could never have made myself, kudos :)
  24. That would be awesome, thank you! Did you fix it by editing waypoint 2 using the info on the Batumi kneeboard page for runway 12?
  25. Thanks for taking the trouble to unpick all those problems. So the synthetic runway was on the wrong runway, and the other cues were for the runway that should have been used. I see the irony in this, but I’ve done that mission so often now that I actually feel pretty confident landing now, so I guess I’m better off creating a fast mission and using that to practice landing?
