One more question please Cobra: Does this loss of guidance occur in any circumstances other than the player’s death, eg moving too far from the target?
-
Thanks for that insight Cobra. It is a shame that ED won’t allow you to add logic to allow ordnance to emulate the behavior of missile guidance more accurately. Here’s hoping ED see the sense in allowing third party devs to execute their own code on ordnance. Thanks again.

Cannot Update to 1.5.8
Horns replied to Horns's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Ah ok. I usually check out the patch notes when it offers me the update, but I should have thought to search for them myself. Thanks to both of you. -
When I run the DCS_updater it continues to tell me that 1.5.7.11762.396 is up to date. Can anyone suggest a way to get it to update to 1.5.8? Thanks.

Thanks for confirming everyone. Good to know that this isn't just a 'me' problem lol. Also good to know it's to do with DCS, so it's beyond any third-party studios hands.

In the mission "Hunting the Hunters", it seems like when I die any in-flight RB 04Es cease approaching the target and either self destruct or fall into the ocean. Am I observing that correctly? Is that the way they are intended to behave?
-
DCS is a simulation because it models the behavior, equipment and capabilities that were available in a very specific variant of an aircraft - that is, a factually correct aircraft that people actually flew. How the user applies this experience through controllers, displays and so on and the situations it's applied in is up to them. This design philosophy/policy question is so key to module design and comes up so often that it would be great if ED posted a prominent sticky that detailed their approach to this. It would be nice to have an official statement on this key aspect of ED's design approach to refer people to rather than having the same extended conversation repeatedly.

Thanks QuiGon :) Turns out this was a rookie mistake after all, I didn't realize being in ANF would prevent the waypoints cycling. All good now.

The waypoints from B3 onwards in the "Hunting the Hunters" mission don't cycle when I pass over them. This problem has occurred every time I've done this mission (twice or three times). I have definitely been on course at the right altitude, but every time it's like I just flew past it. I have tried manually cycling B3 to B4 and reverse cycling B6 to B5, but the subsequent waypoints still act the way I've described. When I searched before writing this, I saw one person's post that indicated that this is a coop mission, is that the case? If so, is the problem likely to be that the waypoints won't cycle until a second player reaches them? If anyone has had this problem in this mission, even if you don't have any answers please let me know? I'd figured I'd made an error that caused this waypoint behavior, but at this stage I can't work out what it might be.

I went back and did the landing tutorial and I noticed that the text at the start says "short field operations will be covered in a separate tutorial". Does that mean there are more interactive tutorials to come, and if so which ones? The video tutorials are great, but there's nothing like doing it for yourself while being talked through something step-by-step, so if there are more interactive tutes on the way that's awesome.

I'd love this for the Viggen. Taking fixes is a pain.

I'm unclear from the briefing how many of the ships I should ideally engage. Should I: (A) Fire both RB 04E on one ship, engage the air target with Sidewinders and leave the area, or (B) Should I fire one RB 04E, get out of (their) range, come back, fire my second RB 05E, engage the air target with Sidewinders and leave, or © Do all of (B) and use remaining Sidewinders on remaining ships? I'd figured it was probably (A) since this is more strike than CAS but I wasn't sure. Can anyone clarify? TL;DR Do I do one or more attack runs?
-
Ah thanks, glad to know that. Mods can provide great workarounds for these situations, but at some point an integral solution will be needed.
-
Awesome, t's. Good to know mods like this are astound ☺

I noticed that there are no keybinds for the weapon release selector switch (impuls/sirie) or the Doppler land/sea mode switch. I couldn't find any mention of this elsewhere on this forum so I thought I'd mention it here. I'm not too bothered about having to click the land/sea mode switch, but I'd prefer to make all the adjustments for weapon employment without needing to take my hand off the hotas. Thanks.
-
Thanks, didn't think of that
-
Ouch, I didn't see the price change! Even more glad I got it already.
-
The $10 discount is an incentive for people to buy it now, even though it's not available yet. I got those prices wrong though: it's $49.99 now, rising to $59.99 when the module enters early access later this month.
-
69.99 will be the full price once this goes to early access.

I can't see the required airspeed or altitude for the current leg of the route anywhere in the cockpit. Is that the case or am I just not seeing them? I know the airspeed deviation fin indicates how the current airspeed compares to the required speed and the hud symbology guides the pilot to the required altitude, but none of that is displayed in the hud when the master mode changes from Nav. Please don't think this is a complaint, I'm aware that this is a simulation and that Heatblur aren't responsible for the original cockpit design :book: I just want to make sure I'm not going heads - down before the mode change if there's an easier and more accurate way of finding the required airspeed and altitude.
-
Ah, I didn't realize the pocket guide dealt with that stuff too, much appreciated.

Which features will be functional in the AV-8B when it is initially available in late November? In what order will the remaining systems come online, and is there any ballpark ETA on them? Apologies if I've missed a thread on this issue, I did search but found none. If anyone can point me to the correct place I'd appreciate it.
-
Purchased! Almost needed a cigarette after I saw this come to pre-purchase. I can't find a thread (preferably an official one) that sets out systems/content that will be available at the early release at end of Nov, and a roadmap of the other systems coming online. Can someone please direct me to it? I know there has to be one, I did search myself but had no luck.

Oh ok sweet, that could be cool, ta :)

I was able to work out how to proceed, thanks to both of you. Nealius, I understand what you're saying, that the pilot needs the target location in time to line up a fast run, and since I'll be coming in at low altitude that should give me a chance to get my eyes where I need them to be. QuiGon, I didn't even think about the assistive technology in the warthog! It is about as suited to its role as an a/c can be. I have wound up getting the Viggen, because it seems unique design wise (at least for DCS) being a dedicated A2S with awesome speed. I also like the idea of being given a target location and being able to plot my approach to it myself. That said, it's always possible that I'll be unable to deal with the altitude shift or the lower altitude won't be enough to help me ID targets. So if I find the Viggen is too much... I will go back to the A-10C. I remember having the bhot and whot on the MFCDs. The whole a/c was built for quick target ID and engagement, which means it's designed to do exactly what I was asking. The lower airspeed of the hog could be helpful too. Best of all I already own it! Now, just to deal with that 700 page manual lol
