I'm not sure about FC2, but it's the same in Black Shark. Asign axis doesn't detect your head movement as an axis. You must click the empty slot you want to assign an input to (in PPJoy column), then press ADD and then select KEY / BUTTON and choose the correct joystick input. The problem is, there's no way of knowing which joystick input relates to which axis of head movement. After choosing one, I went to AXIS TUNE and moved my head to see if it was the right one. As a note, for me all the active inputs were the ones without an A, F or V prefix. ie. JOY_X, JOY_Y, SLIDER1 etc. all work and VJOY_X, FJOYX and VJOY_X were all inactive. Hope this makes sense. By the way, I got 2 axis working again very well. Very responsive and smooth. The only problem is the centering is sometimes off, and the = centre button doesn't work for me within the game.

Very difficult to setup. It seems there's no way to tell which mapping inside the Black Shark control setup relates to which axis of the virtual joystick. For example inside the FaceTrackNoir program I can see z-rotation is clearly the roll of my head, as it should be. But when I go into Black Shark JOY_RZ doesn't relate, neither does JOY_ARZ, JOY_FRZ or any of the others it should be. As I said huge potantial but setup is a huge can of worms. I just spent a good hour trying to figure out 6-axis to no avail. Wish I'd saved my orginal 2-axis & 4-axis configuration within Black Shark now as that was working great and I don't seem to be able to repeat it. Need more time on this... Hope others will realise the potantial here and jump on the band wagon. Kinda puzzled by the lack of interest so far.

Well, I tried to simplify things by starting with just 2 axis; the two most useful in game, x-rotation and y-rotation. I tried your smoothing and filtering settings to begin with. The motion was very stuttery and my first thoughts were this is the limitation of the webcam (also inbuilt laptop). I adjusted and turned off filtering and set smoothing to 0. This gave a huge improvement, and was quite useable (with the 2-axis). I've gone upto four axis now and it's become more tricky to get stable results. Centering is off and the axis tend to be more sensitve in one direction than the other. I need to play some more, but there's huge potential with this software, particularly if the team keep developing it and don't jump like Cachya did.

another nail in the coffin of the sim industry
martinistripes replied to ChromeWasp's topic in Chit-Chat
Everytime you post I think maybe this guy is coming round, beginning to see the light then, you go ahead and drop another bomb like... ...and I  Funny thread. -
Try this program http://www.simpleportforwarding.com/ Simplifies the entire process. Not had to use it with BS, but I was bashing my head against the wall trying to host multiplayer with IL2 1946.

So, by this logic... the forthcoming Hind simulation could well be titled DCS: Mi-24F Bogeyman :P
-
It's mixed up. You have the A-10C part, which is all correct and official, and then pilot jargon attached to the end. 'DCS: Warthog' and 'DCS: A-10C Thunderbolt II' are BOTH better alternatives. Come on ED, you have the programming genius but I have the titles. :D Admit it. Yield to my impressive titles ED.

Still very much a classified piece of hardware.

I keep seeing DCS: A10C in posts. Shouldn't it be DCS: Warthog (ie in the same vain as Black Shark). Black Shark wasn't called DCS: Ka-50, was it now? :music_whistling: I'll need to adjust my signature if we're switching to alpha-numeric designations. :D ...official game title please?

Fuel Meter and Voice Message Test
martinistripes replied to martinistripes's topic in Bugs and Problems
Okay, so if the intercom's not on, and I don't hear the message, why am I seeing the text/subtitle? -
Check this thread (bottom of the page) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=54058&page=5. Nate--IRL-- figured out exactly what was happening.

Fuel Meter and Voice Message Test

Can anyone confirm, bugs or not? -
New sound engine question or two.

+1 to you sir. Have I seen you over at subsim by any chance? -
Very impressed with the Ka-50 manual. I got it just the other day. The quality of the instruction and binding itself is excellent. I was going through the Preparation for Start-up section. First of all, on testing the Voice Message Unit (back panel), there is no message heard. Just text at the top of the screen saying 'Voice message system okay' (or words to that affect). Secondly, I turned all the switches back to their start position to run through the procedure again. I noticed when flicking the fuel gauge power to the off position, the needles on the gauge stay where they are. Not sure if this one's a bug or not.

Yeh, I hate this. I was going to mention it a day or to ago in 'problems and bugs' forum, but was certain I'd already seen it mentioned somewhere. No doubt ED are on to it. It's quite obvious. The only guys that won't notice are the ones who start hot. Still, this bug is better than the previous bug. :) -

I've been in the back of choppers dispensing flares plenty of times. Scares the sh*t out of you if you're not ready for it! Loud and bright. Seen a few guys just about jump out their seat! But with a pilots helmet on... couldn't say. -
Thanks 531-Ghost. I'm making progress. I also found your dummies guide which will prove useful. Strange thing happening. I'm trying to assign Shkval Narrow View to one of my hat switches (= by default). However, when I select record key strokes I press my = button and it appears as PREVTRK. And then it won't download to the stick. So I went in the game and tried to zoom the Shkval using my = key to find it didn't work. Then I went into BlackShark control setup tab. Cleared the default key and tried to re-assign it. I press my = key and in BS it appears as 'Prev'. Is this some localisation issue. My = key works fine in Notepad. English UK keyboard settings on a laptop.

Having some difficulties getting started here. Can someone post a simple step by step for using a CH profile in BS please. I can load the profile in CM, but then what? Where should I put the profile files? If I close CM do the settings remain active? Am I supposed to just load the game and play? Also, my CH kit is not appearing under the controls tab in options. This seems to have occured since creating a new pilot. I'm reading the docs, and searching the forums but if someone can fasttrack me through this mass of information would appreciate the help.

Hmm, I just tried re-installing. However when I try and upgrade using my serial and email I get the message "access to Cachya_2.1.1-amd64.msi was denied"... anyone else experience this?
-
Thanks for the link. Will be using this when I finally get home and unpack the CH kit.

This is a very warm and fuzzy thread. Group hug? :P

My order for the same was dispatched yesterday, minus the thottle. :)
