  1. Back on topic, when will the update come? And what will it contain? I wish there were some news. ED have become so secretive. Yes, I kind of understand why; less pressure on them if they make no promises. Has anyone else put this game to one side until a few things are fixed? I blame A-10C for Black Shark's lack of recent patching. It's all A-10C's fault... :glare:
  2. Question for ED... Do you have a seperate team working on BS, or must we all wait until the final release of Warthog for any BS improvements? I'm not talking about the big WH/BS compatibility patch, but just any improvements that address current issues. Waiting for WH release is painfully slow, especially when all you want is fixes for BS. Would be great for ED to have several teams working on different products in parallel, although I do realise this is all cost/profit related.

  5. Welcome to the forum! :) Reference your frame rate, you should be getting much more than that. I have a Core 2 Duo also running at 2.8GHz. My resloution, scenes and shadows are on high, visible range medium. I don't use the blur and have water on the lowest setting and I have a good frame rate with v-sync on. I detest stutter and not usually content to play at anything less than a steady 30fps. The water causes a lot of slow down. Apart from that all I can suggest is the usuall stuff; close all background applications and make sure you have no spyware or viruses causing problems. And don't forget to check you have the latest driver for your graphics card... now 260.99 PS. Also I have my resolution set at 1920x1200 so again, I'm not sure why your frame rate is suffering so much.
  6. Yes nice multiplayer match-up. Ok blue team, you have F-16 and A-10. Red team, you get the Ka-50. lol. I realise in real life they're not intended to go head to head but, you know that's what's going to happen. We all know shooting real players is more fun than shooting AI. What IS the fascination with the F16 that draws people to it like flies? I don't get it. Yes, it's deadly, fast, capable etc. but don't people like a challenge playing the underdog anymore. Maybe not, that's why everyone supports Manchester United. It gets boring. Also, bare in mind, it's likely the older the aircraft modelled, the more data ED will have access to and thus the more accurate a sim we get. I'm really open minded on this, but mention more F16 and I feel sick. Venture out guys, try something new! :)
  7. Stop being greedy, go and play Falcon! :P But yeah, the poll is a little strange. Only American aircraft, and F35? lol, I don't think so. Excellent find on the Sam Simulator. ED need to take these guys under their wing. Include it with DCS somehow, and change that firing room and all the panels into a 6DOF environment.
  8. My hope is that ED will want to keep the sides balanced between western and eastern, and likewise for fixed-wing and helicopters. If that is the case, logic would suggest we see either a eastern fixed-wing or western helicopter. Eastern fixed wing, I'm not sure but perhaps something that wasn't in the FC2 line-up would be interesting. If it's a western chopper then it really has to be the Apache or a twin-engined AH-1 variant. Perhaps one of these will provide a nice head-to-head experience against the Shark. To be honest, I hope they won't choose the Longbow. It's too far ahead and, along with the A-10C, will leave the Shark out on a limb.
  9. I once had a car that had actually been on TV in the Top Gear studio. A velocity yellow Corvette Z06. It was part financed and like paying two mortgages. A couple of years later I ran into some cash-flow problems and it was the car or flat... looking back, I probably should've sold the flat. :doh: Fast car. Anyway, last night I was trying to add some targets to the datalink using the manual as a guide. Not sure what happened, but I managed to add two Vulcans after that I couldn't add any tanks. My process in brief was: 1) Turn on DL and DL VHF 2) Set DL ID (1) 3) Set master mode (to Commander) 4) Uncage Shkval and lock target 5) Press target type button on DL panel 6) Hit send/memory on DL panel Simples, right? As I said, the first two targets seemed to work okay and appeared on the tactical situation display after that, nothing. Will have another go later.
  10. If I was flying an English import version of the Ka-50, I doubt very much I would find myself on the Georgian border fighting the Americans! :P

Because the real helicopter has Russian textures. :music_whistling: And the tool tips because my grasp of the Russian language isn't that great yet that I can make out all the technical switch labels and abbreviations.   12. Thanks for watching. Feels like sometimes I turn the aircraft and rather than the nose leading the way, I end up side slipping in the direction I want to go. Think I set 10 m/s wind in that mission -could be just the way it flys. "It's not a race car so it will tip over if you taxi too fast".   14. Would really appreciate any criticism on the first track I've posted. Think I've got the basics. Still feel like I'm struggling with the controls a little at times -clearly seen in my take-off and landing. Helicopter feels very light and unstable when taxiing. Also, have some trouble locking the tanks initially, not sure why. tankhunt.trk

  16. So you agree that most times any tank is in serious trouble with a single hit, from all angles bar possibly the front? My own guess is that even if the crew survive the ordeal, AND the armament is still usable, they're going to be in no fit state to return fire. Also, @AlphaOneSix, I just replayed the mission. To begin with I had the enemy skill set on average. Seemed to me that they nearly always took two hits, most of my attacks were from the side. However, after this I increased their skill level to high and played again. This time I clearly scored a good rear hit on a few of them but again no immediate kill. Also on high skill, seemed to me some took more than two hits, but that could just be me with a bad lock, or the missile hitting the ground beside the target. I'm not sure. Obviously, I would never ask for a full damage model on every vehicle, but it should be important to get as true a reflection of reality as we can with the constraints we have. I'm not as experienced as Isegrim when it comes to tanks, but my own hunch (and it is only a hunch) is that the DCS tanks are overly stubborn. In the grand scheme things, it's just small talk, but interesting none the less.
  17. I've been practicing in my own little tank hunt mission using M1s as fodder. One thing I've begun to notice is the M1 will always happily accept one Vikhr while sporting a big grin. Is this a good reflection on reality? I know the M1 is a solid beast with it's Chobham armour, but I just find it difficult to imagine that my purpose designed AT missile will never on occasion 'get lucky' and hit the sweet spot (between the turret and chassis) or even affect some other critical system rendering the tank good as useless. My own feeling is that a bit of unpredictability on missile impact wouldn't go amiss here. Are 'M' kills modelled? And finally, as wishful thinking... would be nice one day to see crews bailing out.

  20. Welcome to the forums. :) I respect everyone has different likes and dislikes but I find my self asking the question, what does a civil aircraft do, that a military one can't? And, if you simply like to fly, just learn the aircraft and don't use the weapon systems. Surely you can still enjoy an authentic and rewarding sim.
  21. You missed my point; A-10C Warthog will bring in more money for ED. A compatability patch won't. Hey, I'm on the same side as you guys. We all want another patch for Black Shark, but I'm trying to rationalize what's happening with a business head on. :D

Actually I feel kinda bad asking when the French and Spanish are still waiting for their 1.02 The engine start-up sound fault, training tracks and mission planner must be minor issues and a hotfix for just these will surely placate many. The whole AI issue is obviously endlessly complex but needs some serious attention. What's going on behind the curtain. I realise your next release is hotting up but please give the Black Shark guys, that already supported your work, an update on progress. Just a few words, and the whole community gets lathered up! ;) Thanks!
  23. Confirmed. Works with BS. There's something funny going on with the axis though unless it's my configuration. Seems my pitch (or head tilt) translates to y-axis (higher/lower seat) in game. Again, needs tweaking, but I think maybe an improvement over PPJoy.
