  1. False, I and several others were complaining in that thread as well as at least one other thread, and asking for clarification from the moment this was announced and we were all ignored until now.
  2. You can easily use your steam modules in the standalone. I put all mine in last night. Just do the following. -Go to DCS world website and click "login" at the top, (you must have a DCS world account which you already do if you play multiplayer) -Once logged in click profile in top right. -On the profile page in bottom left is the "License Check" field. Enter your CD key in this field to check and get an option to bind this module to your username, it can also be unbound after it seems if needed. -To get your license key, in your steam games library, right click DCS world and select CD keys. It shows all the keys for your modules.
  3. Definitely up / down functionality for any dial switch like the radio and weapons switch is ideal. This is also great for home cockpit users because it can be set up to work on a rotary encoder like the Leo Bodnar, or Desktop Aviator setups. And at the same time it's convenient for keyboard users. It's worth noting the FC3 modules also do toggles in this way for many functions that add realism plus offer a simplified option. Example, they all have -gear up -gear down -gear up/down So all users are covered just by following this simple format.
  4. I would like to see. -Native support for TM warthog switches which was previously accomplished by the LUA edits in the sticky on this forum. The edits in that sticky were great, but they had some problems too. Namely the function would seemingly time out after a while and flipping the switch from an on to off position would do nothing. At the very least, the ability to still use the config file mods in that sticky restored. -True separate on / off commands restored for all important toggle functions. Example. All the switches on the ASP such as giro/missile mode, bombing / shooting mode. Light controls need to have their separate commands restored. I don't have the sim in front of me right now, but when I do I will present a list of every function I use and depend on as separate on / off commands. But to generalize. Anything that's a toggle switch and potentially used while doing another task such as landing, or in combat needs to be able to be quickly and definitively pressed without having to look down at the cockpit to verify whether it was out of sync or whether you accidentally double tapped the key even if it is on a keyboard bind.
  5. Why Leatherneck do you want to go from being one of the premier realism sims for DCS to being one where you can't use a hotas setup properly or even bind all three flaps positions and land your plane properly? I don't understand this move. Have a sim controls and a game controls mode like other modules. Please don't ruin my favorite module.
  6. Because it was listed very clearly as one in the release notes.
  7. It's not a bug, it's a feature. And if no one says anything it's not going to change.
  8. That won't work for the hotas warthog by default unless you use the target software, and the target software introduces lag on the switches and is otherwise undesirable. And even if you do, your controls will get out of sync. This is a huge step backward.
  9. UPDATE 4: Devs have said they will add most if not all of the original controls back, See page 8 for answer. Thanks for listening and responding. ------------------------------ Well, Having looked "replaced" really meant replaced. A lot of the toggle switch positions I used and liked were simplified down to single press toggles with the old on off functionality completely removed. Extremely disappointing. ------------------------------ Update 1: Here is a list of commands, suggestions and general thoughts. Others perhaps will add notes to this. I have not fully gone over every change in 1.5 and I compiled this list based on looking at the controls as they stand in the release version. Most important - These commands absolutely require separate on off functionality for definitive use without having to look down or check to see if they have gotten out of sync. Weapon Mode - Air/Ground Weapon Mode - IR/Neutral/Sar Asp Mode - Missiles-rockets/Gun Asp Mode - Bombardment/Shooting Asp Main Mode - Manual/Auto Asp Mode - Giro/Missile Radar - Off/prep/on Low Altitude off/comp/on Locked Beam on/off Missiles - Rockets Launch on/off GS-23 gun on/off Emergency Afterburner on/off Engine Emergency Air Start on/off Anti Surge Doors auto/manual Flaps neutral/takeoff/landing Gear up/neuteral/down Gear handle fixator on/off SPRD(RATO) drop cover open/close release weapon cover open/close Emergency Missile - rocket launch cover opoen/close Less important - These commands are not absolutely vital but are nice to be able to add to a home cockpit or hotas set up and should also remain separate commands. Navigation Lights Off/min/med/max RSBN Mode Land/navigation/descend Landing Lights off/taxi/land pitot tube selector main/emergency nosegear brake off/on secure canopy on/off hermetize canopy on/off APU on/off Drag chute cover open/close Pipper on/off Fix Net on/off Not in game should be added - Some of these have already been added in 1.5, such as radio channel up down. Radio channel next/previous Weapon selector next/previous rsbn navigation next/previous prmg landing next/previous Dangerous altitude warning selector next/previous engine stop lock on/off <- this one would be especially nice to get working properly with the warthog throttle stop lock, the current toggle is unworkable for this without using target, and even then it's iffy. In general. If it has an off / on or multi position command structure now it should not be removed. The ideal setup that is inclusive to all types of users is what's done in FC3 for certain commands. example... -toggle up -toggle down -toggle up/down or... -pos1 -pos2 -pos3 -pos4 -toggle pos1 - pos4 with this methodology everyone is happy, no one is left out and it doesn't need to be a fight over casual vs realistic that some people seem to feel it needs to be. Also I would possibly select a layout by cockpit location like some of the other modules do. Example, in black shark you have a "stick" option or "left panel" option. Maybe consider laying it out in accordance to the zones of the cockpit described in the manual. I realize the goal here may be to clean up some of the extraneous commands. But if you're going to do that do it on non vital commands such as the various startup switches that are typically mouse clicked anyway twice per flight. Like for example the inverter and battery switches. ------------------------------ Update 2 A lot of people feel the need to make this a "screw the TM warthog users I like it" issue. It's not a TM warthog only issue, and that's very annoying and constantly derailing the topic, so if you're ready to post about how much you want toggles, stop it. You can have your toggles without the game being ruined in the process for everyone else. Definitive controls are not just for users of the TM warhog stick. I use separate commands on my KEYBOARD as well, not just my toggle switches on my stick. The reason is I want a simulation environment, and I want definitive keypresses which do not require looking down at the cockpit. If I press a key or flip a switch that controls my forced air restart while I'm being shot at, I want to know I'm turning it on and didn't just double tap the key and have to look down because my hand is shaking and a player controlled f15c is moving around to get behind me and I need to restart my engine. These commands are NOT just for TM warthog users, please don't post if you don't have something useful to post.
  10. Incredible. Visibility is just amazing. Everything is so crisp and smooth and I can read the HUD much easier from further away. Now I just have to figure out how to install the modules. Extremely impressed so far.
  11. I've tried doing some searches for video examples of the new spotting like you mention but have not had much luck. Are there any recommended video links that show this?
  12. After a lot of waiting for stuff the project is nearing completion, and is pictured below in where its going to sit next to my throttle. Still waiting on paint to arrive to get a custom spray bomb made in soviet cockpit emerald green. The base I built in 1/2 MDF and painted in glossy black krylon fusion plastic paint. And the first cut of the plate was crooked and messed up so its being remade but this is what the final box will mostly look like if you can envision the green mig21 cockpit color on the steel and 15 full size toggle switches in the holes. I'm going to print black with white text brother ptouch labels to look in line with the labeling in the mig21.
  13. I only started DCS in august, being a newbie finally pays off.
  14. New feature, now you can be the AI's wingman anytime.
  15. If it's steam right click the game in your library and select CD keys to see your product keys, it should ask for the cd key when it runs the first time. Can't tell you for the non steam version.
  16. I just started playing on that server last night, if my memory of the number is correct, and I enjoyed it a lot. Their set up is really fun.
  17. The lack of clarification or any comment at all is definitely nerve wracking, particularly as I'm having a 1/8 thick steel plate cnc cut for my authentic mig21 themed toggle panel this week.
  18. I went pretty much insane on the steam sale. So I now have a10c to learn as well as just about everything else. other than the WW2 planes. The a10c definitely was overwhelming on the first training missions for hotas control.
  19. I now have the complete opposite problem having picked up FC3 to try. I can't hit anything in the SU27. I have more effectiveness in my mig 21.
  20. I really need to learn to set something like this up, I have a second screen doing nothing. I wonder, has anyone had any experience with one of those super wide monitors? I'm curious how they would be in a sim. I was planning on getting one of those Asus Rog gsync monitors sometime in the near future and I think they're making a super wide one right now too.
  21. I'd certainly be interested in this server as described. Sounds like a great place to fly the mig21. My experience with online play is pretty limited so far, but from what I've seen it seems to usually be an amraam-o-thon.
  22. Is there a benefit to using the non steam version? Something generally bad about using the steam version?
  23. Yeah, it lands so nose high while still seeing the runway, it's a weird experience. My back wheels were on the runway and the nose started coming down and I was like, what the hell is this... First 21 landing - Rolling down the runway like a log on fire scraping the wings elevators and rudder off, with a generally sad look on my face. First Su 27 landing - Huh, that was it? I guess I landed.
  24. In what way does it depend on the flightstick? I upgraded to a warthog with 75mm extension, but I just kind of kept using 25 pitch and roll curve I always used on everything with my old crappy stick. Do better sticks with more throw generally not need a curve?
  25. Autopilot won't keep the wings level for me, even with it on the aircraft slowly turns to one side. The dampening mode is marginally better but you still have to hold the stick deflected to one side all the way.
