Could you attach screenshots to your post ? There's the cliff between 3rd party addons and ED modules I believe. I'm looking forward for a whole redesign of the overall lightning effects of DCS. I'm using real world picture as reference so ED could get the idea. Talking about the dynamic landing light effect, I would love to see the reflection of the lights on the aircraft's nose (cf: attached Red Flag media) especially when to gear is getting retracted. About the NAV lights, it surely depends of the aircraft type, the environnement weather and time, but usually those don't reflect on the taxiway concrete, those light are surely bright, but really tiny and their size should remain steady (no matter camera zoom/dezoom). Bringing some new shots as reference. Notice how powerful are the anticollision lights, it looks like those got some energy sparks around, their blink aspect should be more powerful and their illumination time significantly lower than the actual. Usually what you spot at first when looking directly to an aircraft whatever the time it is, is the intense beacon/anticollision light blinking. Also notice the reflection of those lights on the aircraft itself. I found some clip of night Red Flags departure, please stay focus on the lights effects, how would you describe those ? There's a sweet big and strong halo effect on the landing/taxi lights, but their illumination range aren't as big as in DCS (example: SU27 landing/taxi lights by night is a joke). Those strobes/anticollision/beacon lights are powerfull and blink in a short period of time (just few milliseconds) with a bright energy, those lights have the capability of reflecting on other surfaces because of the energy they deliver. In DCS, A10C strobe lights are "flat", and suffer a lack of energy, those are more like a white circle that blinks on/off every second. NAV lights and formation lights appears to be the ones your eye see at last. Some Red Flag departures again, but this time in day time. Everyone with proper eyes will agree on the fact that most lights are almost invisible if not visible at all, because of the environnement. However, anticollision/strobes/beacon lights are still visible even at noon, blinking faster than in DCS (strobe illumation for just a few milliseconds) but with less energy because of the time of the day. Finally, the landing lights still have a halo effect, but this one remains much tinier than by night.

Looks like the ultimate challenge for Prowler would be to face a flight of SU27 armed to the teeth with their standard loadout.

Hello Zeus, I had some chat with CptSmiley on the 104th, I asked him about the M2000C lightning systems but he couldn't find an answer so I bet you'd know. Does the M2000C got its own lightning system, such as the C101EB ? The biggest issue I've noticed so far that affects all FC3 planes, even the A10C, UH1H, MI8 etc... are their lightning effects, which are absolutely not realistic at all, I wrote a post about that (check it out guys: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=154373&highlight=nav+lights), wheareas on the C101EB, all lights are well made.

Taking the following picture as reference, in DCS, anti-collision lights should be slightly brighter and NAV lights a lot tinier. Also I noticed that taxi lights appears to be way too much wide and tend to form a sharp cone whereas landing lights tend to form a long tunnel of light that illuminates way too far. Once again, on the C101EB, those lights are well made.

That sums up pretty well DCS multiplayer haha !

This post may need to be moved into "2.0 Bugs and Problems". I wasn't sure where to post this, anyway I hope ED team took a look about that.

I think it had already been discussed by Wags in some NTTR video. ED may be aware of it, but they said it's not a priority at the moment.

ATC and Airfield Management for MP
Voodooflies replied to Captain Orso's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I think ED are reworking the ATC management, but yeah... I like your ideas. MP is oftenly some kind of a jungle, people usually don't know whats the runway on service, they don't listen to the ATC (even though it's sometimes broken). -
By night, there is still that bad "halo" effect and dezoom issue, just like in most simulator. The lights size should NOT move at all, which isn't the case in DCS wether or not it's midnight or noon. ED should think about that. C101-EB owners will get the point.
-
Hello gents, Well, it's not a new issue, NAV lights are completely unrealistic, even more in daytime. There is that notorious "halo" effect on each lights, that go bigger when you dezoom your camera (cf: second screenshot). I would suggest ED team to look into the C101EB light system, those are way more realistic. You're not suposed to see bright NAV lights in daytime, those lights are almost not visible and there isn't any halo around those (cf: first picture). The C101EB designers considered this, I wish ED would do the same regarding all FC3 aircrafts, KA50, A10C, UH1H, MI8 and so on... That said, the new anti-collision lights of the F15C are nice. Those might appears as details, but I consider those as an immersion breaker. Any hope of getting those fixed ? Please, ED... Thank you for reading.

Mirage 2000 EFM flight model upon release of Open Beta?

SFM during beta, EFM at the end of the project. -
Hello people ! Like Martin Luther King would say... I don't mind about people making inverted low passes between buildings and under bridges, but c'mon... Isn't it better to learn something usefull, realistic and more satisfying for once ? I'm guessing that many squadrons will form up with the release of both NTTR Map and M2000C module, so I'm from one of those people who thinks it's better to train before attempting to fly like Wright Flyers. Moreover, the two seaters aircrafts are one more reason to fly more seriously on DCS public servers. That said, I don't know if someone already posted those, but here are some charts I found concerning Las Vegas and its surroundings. Afterall, we're all simmers and we all want the best of the best, so since NTTR is a training map, it should be used for educational purpose aswell (despite of the sweet graphics, colours, autogen, climate, girls, casinos and stuff). I'm guessing those charts are the real ones so feel free to study those. Be advise, those are military charts, some informations may differ from civilian charts. That page also regroups various usefull informations if you really wanna take a deeper look into every aspects of all the airbases. Link as follows:

Sweet.

Holy cow !! Awesome Zeus !

We already discussed about it on some other threads. Most of FC3 owners are newbies, so... it's not that hard to deal with'em. However if you would compare the planes and only the planes, SU27 and F15C are better than the M2000C, mostly because of their loadouts, TWS, IRST... That said, I think the M2000C is better once BVR is reached into VR because the plane seems to be very agile, with sharper turns.

Mirage 2000 digest: read this if you aren't clear on what it is/does!

Is the police light simulated by the way on the M2000C ? Not sure how it works in reality, it's just some kind of a flashlight right ? -
Hello guys, Thank you for all your answers. I checked out some french boards looking for some more informations about the radar signature of the 2000 C. Well, some people say that because of his small size, its RCS is lower than the F15C/SU27/SU30/SU35. Source isn't guenine thought. Frontal RCS: F16, M2000: 1~2 m2 | F15 , SU27 : 10~15 m2 Something else came up to my mind this morning as I was checking AIM-7 performances. Even thought it will have a shorter range & speed than the S530D, you can actually fire the AIM-7 into FLOOD mode in which case you don't need to get a solid radar tracking with your onboard radar, which is a really cool feature. Would we have a similar thing on the 530D ? I don't think so, but I rather be sure.

M2M M2000C includes ARMAT missile which is an anti-radiation missile. It also have Mk82, Mk82 SE, EXOCET, rockets, even GBU 12 (source: M2M FB page). So for instance, the delivery of a GBU 12 will require a JTAC or a buddy lase. However, I wonder if you can shoot ARMAT missile on INS coordinates from the PCM.

Thanks for the enlightment l'ami !

Yeah I was quite surprised too, you're right ! I got misleaded by the "do not move" kinda sentence hahaha. Now it makes sense. How about tactics considering the onboard available loadouts ? I couldn't find anything about it. It's obvious that some adjustements are required since you can't really spam your loadout and then RTB like "mission success". I couldn't find anything about the radar signature of the M2000C, I guess it will have a bad one because of the engines entry (which reflect a lot of radar energy)... I heard that the M2000C wasn't bad operating at high altitudes but it has also a terrain radar (right ?) so flying low and sneaky in order to pincer seems to be a good option aswell isn't it ?

Hello people ! Since we're all really excited about our new baby, I spent the few last days reading official documents about the Mirage 2000C and how it works, all the systems and stuff. At this point I think I got the most out of it. However there's something that recently came up to my mind after watching M2M A/A Tutorial, which is... The Super 530D SARH missile (fox 1) requires to illuminate the target until splash, that said, in this video it's written that you need to point your aircraft straight to the opponent until the missile hit, that means you can't crank at all once missile away... Doesn't sounds good to me... I thought that keeping the target lock on the VTB was enough to let the missile does it job while performing manoeuvers. I'm wondering what would be the best way to exploit the M2000C, especially in multiplayer against bunch of F15C & SU27. Any tips, any ideas people ?
