  2. Invoice and shipping delay for current group Hey Guys, Unfortunately, one of our suppliers shipped 300 of the wrong micro-controllers. I am waiting for the correct ones to arrive so we can finish processing the next group. Carol is not going to issue the current invoices until the kits are built and through testing. We have been issuing the invoices when the kits started testing, but I was getting delays. I really don't like keeping anyone's money for more than a few days before shipping their orders. Apologies for the delay, it's usually my fault, but this was a suppliers error this time. I am going to take this time to update the firmware and the neglected instructions and videos. Hopefully we should be rolling again in less than a week. Thanks, Miles
  3. Hey Spiken, I am showing your PM to me, but Carol does not have your order. Did you email her at orders@pointctrl.com using the format in the first post in this thread? I know its a pain, but its just until the list is done, then we can go live with the website sales. Thanks, Miles
  4. Hey Dutch, Carol said she did get an email from you on the 21st, Unfortunately it was after all of the invoices went out for your group. If I had an extra unit I would send an invoice. but I am out of completed units. Sorry for the delay, but you are first in line for next weeks orders. Thanks, Miles
  5. As always, great point Mariner, The update does not change anything currently set. It will only add a 3rd option to the current FCU mapping procedure. Short version for those that are Pollex challegned, (pun intended) After entering the current FCU mapping mode you press FCU button 1,2, or 3 Pressing FCU Button 1 Sets (default mapping) Foward Btn = Left Click Center Btn = Right Click Rear Btn = Mouse Wheel Pressing FCU Button 2 Sets Foward Btn = Right Click Center Btn = Left Click Rear Btn = Mouse Wheel Pressing FCU Button 3 Sets (Added option) Foward Btn = Mouse Wheel Center Btn = Right Click Rear Btn = Left Click PointCTRL automatically saves the mapping and exits setup mode, returning to normal operation. This only affects whats sent to the computer during normal operation, and does not change PointCTRL graphic menu navigation or other calibration procedures. Thanks, Miles
  6. ... ah yes, and Los's life "Part 2" after being a 18Z also, is a Pilot and flight instructor, sorry Los, couldn't resist adding that pic of you. Edit: I have to say Los, being upside down or in negative G's really takes some mileage off your looks, and adds some additional Bad Assery.
  7. Unfortunately, I am not a formally educated engineer, this stuff would be much easier if I was. Life part 1, was U.S. Army 18B/Z. I didn't really start college until a few years ago at 54. While I wouldn't trade my time in SF for anything, I do wish I went to college after high school. With a lifetime of hands on experience fixing and building everything from race cars to weapons systems, I now kind of found my niche in physics, and will probably end up as a physics professor, for life part 2. Sorry, didn't mean to overshare Miles
  8. Hi Cartok, I am always updating things, but its mostly in the firmware at this point, which is a downloadable update. I did just finish a slight redesign of the FCUs. I am having mixed results with the difusors and have experienced better cursor resolution results with new HMS sensor settings that will be in the next firmware update. PointCTRL will always get better, I just don't know how fast, and as long as there is interest I will keep improving it. When to order? I can only objectively say that it will get better the longer you wait. Thanks for asking, Hi James, Just follow the ordering instructions in the first post of this thread, and be sure to put "Order - jameslockridge #171" in the subject line. Thanks for your patience, Miles
  9. Hey Harlikwin, Great questions, 1) The HMS is agnostic to which IRLED it is tracking. It applies the Left and Right edge calibration symmetrically throughout your horizontal field of view. That being said I use the right hand FCU and MFD for right edge calibration, and my left hand FCU and MFD for left edge calibration. My reasoning is I am more likely to be operating the FCUc on the outboard edges of my field of view. This is all really splitting hairs though. Whats probably more important is to calibrate the FCUs at the distance where you feel you will be operating them most of the time. Most people seem to select one item in the center of the cockpit and calibrate from there. The upper and lower half's of the screen are edge calibrated independently because of the asymmetric angles of the FCU to the HMS proportional to raising and lowering your arms. Which is why there is only one horizontal procedure and two vertical procedures. 2) The old calibration is not replaced until the final step of any calibration, where the cursor moves upward signifying the end of the procedure. 3) The mouse wheel rate is changed in the new firmware update that should be out soon. It has a slower linear rate increase over time vs the current exponential increase when button three is held. I can change it to what ever everyone feels is best. When you are close you can rapidly click button three, rather than holding, this works well for comms channels. The twist just happens to kinda work if you pivot from your wrist in a certain way, its not very reliable. It really is designed to work by moving your hand up or down, just like you would move the mouse. I hope all that helps a little, Miles
  10. All invoices for up to 150 are out, If you have not received yours please email Carol at orders@pointctrl.com. Now serving up to 175 Just follow the format in the first post. Thanks, Miles
  11. Hey Jav, This is a new one, sorry to hear your havining issues, but we will get it sorted. For starters, PointCTRL stores all calibrations and settings internally on non volatile memory, so there is no need to keep it on. The order of power up or launching programs should not matter because PointCTRL is just recognized as a HID compliant mouse. You can press the white reset button on the HMS at any time and PointCTRL will reboot in about 2 seconds without effecting the saved calibrations or settings. Now on to your problem. It sounds like an issue between Full Screen (alt enter) and windowed mode. Are you using the same mode each time? You can calibrate for either, but you have to use whichever mode you are calibrated for, or it will shift the cursor left or right. If your calibration settings are shifted right, it sounds like you calibrated in windowed mode and when you came back to fly you put it in full screen mode. Its not clear in the crappy instructions. I have to stop saying I am going to work on them and just do it. This may not be your problem, let me know if its not. Also, you should join the PointCTRL discord in my sig that Clutter and Deano set up. I usually log into the voice channel when I am working, and you only have to yell my name and I should hear you. There is a bunch of guys like Deano that jump in and help pretty quick. Miles
  12. The correct USB cables came in late today, Last weeks orders are finally packed and ready to ship in the morning. Thanks for your patience. This will teach me to more closely inspect items when they come in, so I wont get surprised like this again. Miles
  13. Update: Hey Guys, It always seems that something is delaying things, and its usually my fault. This time is no exception. I ordered the wrong USB cables and ended up with Apple cables. I was supposed to have a new shipment in on this past Wednesday, but they are still in the next state over. I hope to have them on Monday. I've contacted those that had already paid, but I wanted to let the 131 to 150 group know what the delay is in getting your invoices. I don't like to keep anyone's money longer than I have too, so I will be sending the invoices as soon as the USB cables come in. Thanks again for your continued patience. Miles
  14. In addition to what Clutter said, you have to hold the rear button down for up to 2 seconds for acknowledgment. If it's stuck in a program loop for some unknown reason, or if the rear button is defective, you can turn off the FCU by plugging it into the charger. The charging jack automatically cuts power to the micro-controller. Let us know how you make out, Miles
  15. Hey Sirrah, You are correct, the FCU has a battery check function. The charge monitor allows you to monitor how much current (in MAH) is being put back into the battery while charging. It displays both the charge current as well as cumulative Milli Amp Hours. Knowing this information is helpful in determining when its time to replace a battery, as well as trouble shooting if your getting a short run time out of your FCUs. These devices are handy for many other things besides just PointCTRL, they can be used with many USB devices for trouble shooting. Its not required, just nice to have. I Hope that helps, Miles
  16. Hey Mariners back !!!, Welcome, and nothing has changed much, other than what FireCat linked, and this reply sums things up. I have been working on a firmware update for improved cursor tracking, however its been slow going, balancing production with improvements. Its good to see you back here Mariner, Miles
  17. Update: Carol sent out all invoices up to 130. If you didn't receive yours email her at orders@pointctrl.com. Sorry I was a bit slow this week because I made a few minor changes to the FCU's enclosure. Thanks, Miles
  18. Hi Pete, PointCTRL is only 2d, so you can put your hand wherever it is comfortable. I calibrate and put my hand so it feels like I am touching the switches that I am interacting with. I hope that helps. Miles
  19. Shipping Update: The last of the previous groups orders just went out. Carol will probably issue the invoices tomorrow, but they won't ship until Monday or Tuesday, so no rush in making payment. @Mr Mojo, Its still the plan, along with the radial buttons, pressure panels, smaller and sleeker FCU, Headset integration research, I just don't know when. The Aux Push Buttons banks are pretty low hanging fruit, so hopefully soon. Thanks for asking, it puts things back on the radar for me. every-time I see your handle, I think of Austin Powers, Miles
  20. Maverick!!!!!!!!!!!!! I missed your post, Whats up buddy! Its been way to long. I miss flying with you guys on the 99th soooo much, especially our Huey Ops. Are you still flying on the 99th? You should join the PointCTRL discord so we can catch up. One of the members there posted a pic of his stealth furniture simpit modeled after yours. Thanks for reaching out, talk to you soon, Miles
  21. Thanks FoxDelta for your work. I am no expert, and this is just my knuckle dragger method. I thought I would throw up an unedited video to answer to see if it took less time than typing it out. It only took a few minutes. I have a few different variables available for optimization of the interpolation, shutter speed, sensor gain, ambiguous pixel threshold, and the hardware IR LED area. I am sure there are some math guys out there who understand this stuff better than me and could explain it more clearly. If you guys find these video responses helpful let me know, Its easier for me than typing. Miles
  22. Glad they are working, Be sure to use "Deano's Mod" in the interim. Deano and Clutter are pretty quick on the discord help desk, and I stay logged into the voice channel when I am at my work station/Pit. I keep it minimized, so just yell and I should hear you. I am new to discord and I am so glad Clutter and Deano set it up. FireCat will be moving his waiting list their also. DCS has been great, letting us do this here, but I don't want to wear out our welcome. Miles
  23. I am leaning toward FoxDelta's design (the round one), over the original (saggy version)version. The intent of the original version was to make the area as large as possible which helps interpolated cursor resolution. I still have to do some more testing, but I think FoxDelta's design will work out better. Thanks again FoxDelta
  24. Hey CrazySunDog, Crap, I keep forgetting to update the instructions. Your good, https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4019550&postcount=1673 From Above Post Important Notice for last weeks shipment: I am switching from a duel plug parallel charger to 2 independent chargers. If you received 2 black chargers, the flashing red lights work differently and will turn on and flash when the battery is not connected, that is normal. New Black FCU Chargers Charger Plugged in, not connected to FCU = red light ON Charger Plugged in, connected to FCU and charging = red light OFF Charger Plugged in, connected to FCU and FCU is fully charged = red light ON I test all components in each kit before shipment, so the batteries may be fully charged. Thanks and I am happy you are enjoying PontCTRL, I am posting on discord about the diffuses. As soon as I lock in a design I am going to mail a set to whoever would like them an no charge. I still have to figure out the best method for international mailing.
