  1. The cirrostratus should be very high base altitude or they won't look right. Should be between 20000 - 40000ft.
  2. They are similar, just coverage amount increases incrementally. Correct. There are no changes to the cloud rendering so there is no difference in performance to default clouds. Heavy clouds with precipitation (with my mod, or default) does take a performance hit however. This is most noticeable in VR where flying through rain shafts can really tank performance.
  3. Thank you all for the positive comments! I'd really like to keep adding to the mod but I've sort of hit the limits of what the current weather engine can do. For example, I'd like to add more cirrus cloud textures. Currently the game can only use 4 texture files for cirrus. I'd also like to see better density and contrast in the clouds. Hopefully the weather engine will make its way back into the development cycle for ED soon.
  4. Looks like User Files isn't syncing for some reason. I tried updating it again but it still isn't showing the update.   7. It won't change the weather in missions using the default weather presets. You will notice much better looking cirrus clouds though.

  11. Hey guys, Minor update to the mod today. I added the requested thumbnails with yellow outline for the cloud presets. This makes it easier to find the mod preset versus the default ones. 10/11/2024 - Updated to version 11 - Updated cloud preset thumbnails. The Mod thumbnails are now outlined in yellow for better visibility. Thanks to forum user ggrewe for help with this. - Fixed issue with cloud presets being out of order

  15. Wishful thinking on my part for the Cobra. I still can't figure out what kind of helicopter that is in the video though.
  16. Just watched the end of summer sale video. Looking at this pilot and canopy frame from 0:28 in the video. This looks like a USMC pilot and AH-1W canopy frame to me.

  18. Ah yes, there was some low quality autogen type scenery in that area. I typically didn't fly up that way because of that. I guess this was done to avoid overlap with the Syria map? Kind of disappointing as I hoped they would complete Israel with all its airbases. This would be an awesome map with whole of Israel and some airfields in Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
  19. Removed? They were never there in first place. Maybe you're confusing Sinai map with the Syria map, which has those locations.

  21. To be honest, if it wasn't for the community producing amazing mods, I'd probably not be playing DCS much. The mods that we have keep me interested in the game during the long periods between feature and content updates. I created my weather mod because 3 years after introducing new cloud tech, ED hasn't done much with the weather.
  22. Thank you all for the positive comments. I'd really like to create more high quality cirrus cloud textures. It'd be nice if ED could enable to use of more than four cirrus cloud textures. I haven't figured out if there's a way I can do it with modding the cirrus.fx shader yet.
  23. Fixed the first post. Forum was acting weird when I updated it previously.
  24. They are just replacement textures for the default cirrus. No setting required. They will change with every mission reload. Currently the game only uses 4 cirrus textures. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can add more.
