Shouldn't be like that...ED has been clear about the release plan. October 1st is still well within early Autumn.

DCS: F-16CM Block 50 by EDSA Discussion Thread
Donut replied to NineLine's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
No exact release date yet...all we know is early Autumn which to me would mean anywhere between September 23 and late October. -
I'm with you SmoglessPanic. We are finally getting an F-16 in DCS and it is hard not to get very excited, especially now with the videos. No need to apologize for being excited and hoping for the best in terms of release. We need more healthy optimism around here. I have been here a bit longer than you and have learned to ignore the bullies, so just give it time and you will be able to do the same. September 25th is early Autumn, so it is possible. There are plenty of dates that ED could have given Steam that fall within the early Autumn window so there could be something to it. However, history tells us otherwise and with previous modules, the Steam date is most likely just a place holder and not a firm release date. Early Autumn is the official release target and is roughly between late September and late October. Although, I do think about all the people who purchased the F-16 on Steam and don't ever view these forums...they are unaware of DCS module release history and are fully expecting the F-16 to be released on September 25th, as they should.

Another great video Wags, thanks! It is very exciting to see how far along the F-16 seems to be and how great it looks and functions. Keep up the amazing work!!!

Wags said the startup video will probably be the last video before release... -
Oh wow, F-16 is looking incredible! Great flying Wags and thank you again for these videos! Now the training begins!
-
Great news Wags! Thanks for the update and keeping us informed, very much appreciated!

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=248783 It seems to have been just a mix up of wording and Early Autumn is still the time of release.

Don't you mean, "Early Autumn 2019 is still planned" Not a big deal, but Autumn 2019 would be a change from what was originally said/planned...

2 months from now would be approaching the end of early Autumn.

DCS: F-16CM Block 50 by EDSA Discussion Thread
Donut replied to NineLine's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
With DCS, I find it is best to assume the latest date of an announced release window. For the F-16, early Autumn would be mid-late October at the latest. -
I am very much looking forward to these videos as well! We are about two months from release so I imagine the videos will be coming in hot and heavy soon.

Hopefully, ED looks at this thread and offers various options for an afterburner detent to accomadate the many different throttles that are used. The more options the better! Another option that I hope ED offers is to have the AB detent button be bindable to an axis as well. It is currently not possible with the Hornet in the DCS controls menu.

Impressive stuff Glowing Amraam! Thank you! It looks like good progress is being made on the F-16...keep up the amazing work GA, ED, and everyone else involved!

They announced a release window...early Autumn. I imagine that they are confident they can deliver the F-16 in some sort of flyable state no later than the end of early Autumn (mid October), or they wouldn't have set themselves up for failure by announcing a time frame and taking money. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose. Fortunately, ED has proven themselves with the Hornet by releasing it within the announced timeframe.

Another bit of bad luck for ED in what has not been a good year, but not really a big deal overall. I am much more interested in the start of the Mini-Updates from Wags. Get well soon Glowing Amraam!

Interesting fact about the F-16 Side Stick Controller
Donut replied to Deano87's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I am trying to do the same by looking at in cockpit photos, but I can't tell if it's positioned upper, mid, or lower thigh. Right now, I sit down with my arms hanging straight down at my side. I then bend 90 deg at the elbow and where my hand is naturally positioned, is where I move my chair to line up and grip the stick. Great to hear! Is it in the UI somewhere or does it require deeper programming/scripting? -
Interesting fact about the F-16 Side Stick Controller
Donut replied to Deano87's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
This is great stuff!! So, is axis rotation of the Thrustmaster Warthog Stick possible using the Target software? I have my stick on the side and definitly notice that I naturally pull the stick slightly left when pulling back...I have to make an effort to pull it straight back. Also, while a 12 deg offset works in the real aircraft, would it still work for all of our sim setups considering stick locations and arm angles may be different? Is there an easy way to tell in the software, at what angle of degrees I am pulling the stick at? -
Great to hear! Once a release date/timeframe for a module has been announced, ED has kept their word, so I don't see the F-16 release slipping past October.
-
Hmm, interesting. I stand corrected. I still have a lot to learn and understand about the F-16. I apologize for putting up incorrect information. Thank you to all for helping out!

Hey guys, didn't mean to start a debate...maybe I am just misunderstanding some things...but what I was trying so say was that it is my understanding that all USAF F-16's that served in combat, had the capability of carrying a targeting pod. Sure, not all squadrons used targeting pods due to availability or not being trained, but the aircraft itself was still capable of carrying one. Is this correct? The story of the IAF is indeed impressive, but what I was trying to state in response to another post is that if the DCS F-16 releases without a targeting pod or laser/GPS guided weapons (which is expected and as planned for initial release), it is indeed not yet achieving it's full combat effectiveness and capabilities as was available in 2007.

Yeah, the TWCS definitely needs something other than the factory grease/lube. I chose Nyogel 767a because it seems to be the most recommended, has proven results, and is safe on plastic. I really don't know anything about other potential lubes. Let me know what you end up using and how it goes.
-
A little update... I removed the factory grease and applied Nyogel 767a. I applied the Nyogel evenly all around the slide bars. It is a very noticeable and significant improvement in the overall feel of the throttle's movement. Small, fine, and precise adjustments are now possible and it now feels like a higher quality throttle than the price suggests. However, I did notice that the movent of the throttle over it's full range of motion can be inconsistent at times. When moving slowly, the throttle maintains a smooth and even feel that requires the same amount of pressure to move. It's perfect when moving the throttle slowly, however; when moving the throttle quickly though, that smoothness changes at times and a difference in the force of dampening can be felt. The level of dampening is also greater at the bottom end of the throttle travel and lower at the top end for some reason. I also noticed that the tension screw really has no impact now and is overpowered by the dampening of the Nyogel. Not a big deal. I just tightened the tension screw just enough to minimize the side to side wiggle that the throttle has. I am very happy with the overall feel and level of dampening provided by the Nyogel, but I would like to figure out what is causing the inconsistent feel depending on how fast the throttle is moved. The only thing I can figure out is that I am applying downward/upward pressure on the throttle when I move it fast.

Any insider news about Thrustmaster starting production of the Cougar throttle again? Used Cougars are impossible to come by, especially with USB.

+1 Very well said. I am still waiting for planned features that were mentioned way back when I bought NTTR at release... Same here. +1 Could not have said it any better...hopefully ED is listening to all of this.
