You bring up a good point. Although, I believe Italy is too populated to fulfill the "low overhead, high performance" clue. North Africa would work except that it is another desert map. Blah... It brings nothing new to DCS except a new location. I suppose with it being free though, it would offer a desert map for those that did not buy NTTR or the Persian Gulf.

In regards to working through the night...I am thinking that ED may be wanting to have this update ready for the FlightSim Expo this weekend.
-
Good detective work, those are all definite possibilities and if you really think about, the only possibilities given the clues. Personally though, I think it would be a poor choice to make another map with a lot of sand, unless it's sand on a beach... The Western Front could be possible and improve on and expand what Normandy is. However, I don't know what scenarios this could bring for modern aircraft. North Africa...too much sand. Southern Italy is too narrow in scope and I don't know what scenarios it could bring to modern aircraft unless it was connected to the Syria and Caucasus maps at some point. I still feel very strongly that somewhere in the Pacific makes the most sense. It is different from anything we have in DCS right now. It is very diverse and brings a lot of possible scenarios for both WWII and modern aircraft if done right.

This makes sense. We don't need an official update to tell us that there is a delay and obvious issues. Plus, it is still June 5th...there is no official rule saying that each update has to be released at a certain time of day. ED will let us know the details when they have figured things out.

Hmm, interesting clues! I suspect and hope for somewhere in the Pacific as well. Maybe we will finally find out at the FlightSim Expo this weekend.

Well, I went ahead and did it. I was going to wait, but I saw stock on Amazon was running low so I bought the CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Rudder Pedals! :joystick: Thank you to everyone for your input in helping with my decision. Ultimately, I feel that these will be a good match for me and my preferences as well as go great with the upcoming F-16.
-
Now that the F-16 exists, even if only in development, I pre-purchased and choose it as "the only one."
-
Ha! Good point! Just for peace of mind though, I did e-mail CH Products and received a quick response saying that they plan on fully supporting all of their products for the foreseeable future. Good news for anyone else out there planning on purchasing.
-
Yep...my desk and PC are spotless at all times. I treat it like a real aircraft and keep it in tip-top shape! It is only used for DCS and nothing else.
-
My apologies...did not mean to come off as "fired up." You guys can win. We are just trying to understand how ED works and how the modules that we invest in and support are being developed. Personally, I want to make sure that F-16 stays on track for an early autumn release and hope that ED is doing the same. I purchased the Hornet, but the F-16 is my dream aircraft. I pre-purchased immediately and I am all in, so I closely follow how the F-16 is being developed and how ED is handling it. Thanks NineLine for being active in the discussion. Never take my posts personally, I am on your side!

My goodness, I sure hope that isn't the case. The F-16 is projected to be released in 4-5 months...unless the flight model and systems are finished (are they?), I would think that there would be ED staff assigned to those as a priority since they are the most complex and time consuming. If all that is left is the model, textures, and cockpit functionality, then the F-16 is much further along than I thought!

This is the way I understand it as well. It seems that ED staff is very limited and staff is more or less reallocated to different tasks/modules as needed. An example of this would be the Hornet JSOW delay due to those working on the Hornet being used for the Fw 190A-8 release. ED seems be doing the best they can with what they have. All we can do is hope that they are able to hire more staff from the financial support they receive from the new modules.

The software wouldn't be an issue for me either, although I believe it's calibration feature is still needed, but I haven't seen any reported issues with that. That velcro mod seems super simple and effective so that would take care of the no AB detent issue. One lingering concern that I have is if CH Products still have support from the company. It seems that their online presence has disappeared over the past few years (Facebook, Twitter), and I would be worried about investing in a product that no longer receives support. Is this even an issue?
-
Hmm, that makes sense and would be a problem. Is it more the F-14 though than the throttle? I use an X55 right now and experience the same as you in regards to engine sensitivity with the Tomcat. With the CH Pro Throttle, is it accurate enough to change the engine RPM by 1% at a time or is that not even possible?
-
Agreed...open communication with the consumer base is always a good thing. Ultimately, it is up to ED as to how they run things, but feedback from us can lead to good decisions that are positive for everyone.
-
Thanks...good to hear! One more question...have you found the lack of an afterburner detent to be an issue? I know there is a mod out there that uses velcro as well to add a detent. For me, I am still favoring the CH HOTAS and feel that it would work great with the F-16.

Hi Svsmokey. Do you have any problems with the controls jittering like some others do? How is the stick and throttle sensitivity? Do you find it good enough for AAR and formation flying? Thanks!
-
Agreed...I don't know what the big secret is. If things are unfinished, fine...just show the current/planned area of coverage and say "subject to change." The map seems far enough along at this point where they are able to do that.
-
What are the problems you experience in DCS?
-
I have read about the jittery pots as well, but the solution seems simple...solder the internal connections and/or make sure there is enough power at the USB port. What about the Warthog do you like better? I have read that the CH Pro throttle and Fighterstick are accurate enough...what about them specifically did you find was not accurate in regards to formation flying and AAR? Thanks for all the feedback everyone!
-
Hello everyone! Would you still recommend the CH Fighterstick, Pro throttle and Pro Rudder as a new purchase in 2019? I currently have a Saitek X55 HOTAS which has served me well, but I never really liked it and it's starting to act up. With the F-16, I would like to upgrade and the CH product line seems like a good match to the F-16 HOTAS. Tell me what you think...thanks!
-
How well will the Warthog throttle work in regards to being able to map all the F-16 HOTAS controls?
-
Thanks for the feedback and information! Good stuff! I will consider all of this as I continue and try to decide between the CH stuff, Warthog, or X56. I am still heavily leaning towards the CH products though for the F-16.

Thanks for the update and hints! For me, this describes a large area of the Pacific with a lot of water and scattered islands.
