Agreed...$222.72 in US dollars for grip only and no base. That means total cost would be about $693 for those who don't own the Warthog yet!!!
-
Hmmm, the more research I do, the more I like the CH Fighterstick and Pro Throttle for the F-16. What are everyone's thoughts?
-
Ha! Well, we are still here in this thread because we eagerly await the day that the "Viper Mini-Updates" post get a sticky on the forum. :pilotfly:
-
Me too!! The Hornet startup video was about 5 months before release. We are within that window for the F-16 as well, so hopefully we see something soon!

I am pretty sure it's ED....Ugra has their own forum section now and all the Afghanistan posts remain in the ED forum section

Great idea NineLine! Whoa, that is an impressive set up! Here is mine... Simple, not as impressive as what some of you have, but it does the job.

I could not have said it better myself. I am all in with the F-16 and purchased it immediately. Looking back, my previous aircraft purchases (F/A-18, F-14, F-5, F-86, P-51, A-10) were just to pass the time until the F-16, which I thought would still be years away. I have enjoyed flying all of them and it has been great to experience flying each; however, like you, I only have enough time to master and enjoy flying one aircraft. If all aircraft were released at once, the F-16 would be my one and only purchase. Although, I do view my previous purchases as supporting ED as a company as well, who I would like to now see devote more time and resources to the core sim (weather, ATC, AI, performance optimization). Hopefully the popularity of the F-16 will bring a significant increase in income to ED, allowing for an increase in staff to provide improvements and new features. So, for anyone who loves the F-16 and knows that they will purchase it, why not get it now and support ED financially, and in doing so, hopefully improve the overall DCS experience.

+1 Many years past due and something that really should be top priority. A realistic aircraft simulator needs to include a realistic simulation and visual depiction of weather.

Wags lists his location as Phoenix, Arizona. Luke AFB is right outside of Phoenix, home to F-16 training, hmmm..... Luke AFB base and Arizona would be too much like the Nellis map though, so I doubt that would be it and we don't need another training map. The more I think about it, the more an Alaska/Bering Sea area makes sense. Alaska has some beautiful scenery and would also be an area that offers a lot of combat scenarios for both Air Force and Navy operations.

+1 "His favorite place to fly a real aircraft" To me, this has nothing to do with combat, but more to do with the joy of flying around a very scenic area.

not planned or correct for version BLU-107/B Durandal
Donut replied to AbuMuqawama's topic in Wish List
Ha, same here! I vividly remember flying on the Panama map and bombing the runway at an enemy airbase. There was something very satisfying with lining up down the runway and dropping the Durandals. -
I bought Eye of the Viper for my Nook last night! Exactly what I was looking for! I will get Vipers in the Storm next. Thanks for the recommendations! I had no idea that Boyd was so influential in the creation of the F-16...I will have to read his biography sometime.
-
Does anyone know of books/novels that feature the F-16? The only two that I have are Viper Pilot by Dan Hampton and Red Phoenix by Larry Bond.

To me, early Autumn would mean at the very latest, before the mid-point of the season, which would be November 4. If you split Autumn into 4 quarters, the first quarter would end October 14. A release around then would make the most sense as being early Autumn.
-
Just bought it! Yippee!!! I seriously thought that a DCS F-16 would still be years aways, but here we are! I cannot wait for Autumn! Okay ED, now let's get that F-16 into the wild blue yonder!
-
Hopefully the 2.5.5 update will bring us the cockpit update...fingers crossed!
-
Oops...! Glad it was just a typo.
-
Now we enjoy the journey towards the release. It will be exciting to see the F-16 progress through Wags' Mini-Updates. Pre-purchasing is also about supporting an aircraft and company that we believe in and want to see succeed.
-
It is more than just a pre-order...we will also be seeing the first video as well as additional screenshots. This should also be the start of the F-16 Mini-Updates from Wags. Very exciting times!!!!

Many of you are probably already aware of this, but for those who are not, here is a link to the F-16 episode from The Fighter Pilot Podcast. https://www.fighterpilotpodcast.com/episodes/045-f-16-fighting-falcon/

+1 I am glad to see you guys distancing yourselves. This really infuriates and saddens me. Stay strong...never give up, never surrender! I would hope that most of the DCS community is kind, respectful, and grateful for what ED has done for flight simming.
-
Goodness gracious, I know! I fear for the world when the pre-sale actually does begin. +1 for being calm and level headed. This is the famous and mighty F-16 Fighting Falcon we are talking about here...let us trust that ED will do it justice and get things right.
-
+1 Keep fighting the good fight! Thank you ED!
-
I have gotten to that point as well, it really has become an awful place. I have never posted there but keep up on what is being said because news and information has sometimes been posted there first or just there instead of here. I wish ED would avoid Hoggit all together and strictly use these forums for any and all information.

I believe that the F-16 was originally designed to be an air superiority fighter only and later on was configured for ground attack as well. The Hornet was designed right from the start to be both fighter and attack.
