I see them even in official videos from Matt so its a bug...to see them just fly close to the mountains with the sun ahead...sooner or later you will see them...
-
They seem to have changed the water color and other things, maybe its realted...also, colors are very cold and everything looks much less realistic than before...hope it is just something temporal.
-
+1. They even shine with the sun in Nevada.
-
Sure, I also noticed that!...got really surprised how "fragile" it feels...

Hey!, Did you noticed that in the last 2.5 update, ALL shadow shimmering from trees is totally gone??, wow, dont know what they did, but after a few seconds in, I instantly noticed that everything looked so much better in terms of image quality!, so I looked at tress and the projected shadows are perfectly still and with ZERO shimmering, like if the SMAA I use from reshade could now also smooth them...looks amazing...even the trees look better shadowed (though the ground under them still "shinning" at certain distance at the backlight). MASSIVE improvement in image quality and even more, massive performance improvement for me at least!...I managed to fly through a valley at full settings (except shadows which are set at flat) WITH MIRRORS ON!! and got 60fps looking at both sides fulled with trees! (not possible before)... Also for some reason, I would swear the trees are smaller in the mountais, but not sure... Anyone else?? Thanks!! EDIT:Ok, I think the reason for the increased performance is that trees are not render so far as before...when you zoom the view, they loaded almost to the infinite, now they dont render as far...:( EDIT2: I can confirm that drawing distance is the same in external view...however, not form cockpit (when you zoom from the cockpit, objects are not being rendered at the same distance as zooming from external view) ...not sure if this is intended or not...can some of you confirm this?

Yeah, I think that the issue is present in the bump maps, sometimes in a RGB channel, others in the Alpha... here is a capture of the PS (edited the curves just to make the issue more visible): Btw, same issue is also present in the Harrier, also the bump maps: Hope it can help
-
thats because for some reason, in both, m2000 and av-8, there are some channels (RGB or Alpha) that are extremely pixelated...in the new m2000 speculars, the blue channel is very pixelated and in the bump maps, both red and blue are pixelated and the alpha one is extremely pixelated (the green uses to be perfectly nice)...hope you can fix that asap Timghetta...other than that AMAZING improvement!!

Yup!, just download it and check it out.

Scale of Speedtrees in 2.5
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Bananimal's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I would like if ED could adjust the size of the trees...they are too big in my opinion, which leads to an odd scale appreciation (you think you are lower than you actually are)... I remembered a video I saw some time ago that shows a nice valley flight full of trees...not the caucasus but looks quite similar and as you can see, the speed feeling as well as the trees themselves are much smaller: Cheers! -
Hey!! just noticed that many improvements in the cockpit materials are already included in the new update!!!!!, looks VERY nice Timghetta !!!!!!!!!!, especially love the touch on the radar screen and the mirror edges but have to look closely to see what else is new... also the external speculars are finally fixed!!!, though there are some pixelation issues with both speculars and bump maps but is much better than before. thanks a lot!!

Bignewy, i just noticed something!...I didnt realize that in the log, the CockpitBase.dll, as well as the whole log, points to a "D" drive location which NO LONGER EXIST :huh:...I mean...a week ago, I purchased a new 500gb 850EVO SSD ("S" labeled drive) which I use now for DCS...previously, I had my 1.5.8 open beta in a HDD labeled "D" where the updated 2.5 was installed for a couple of days... what I did to move the install to the new SSD (S drive) from my previous HDD (D drive) is what seems to be the consensus in these forums on how to do that: just copy-paste the whole "DCS World OpenBeta" folder from D to S (creating the path S:/Program files/Eagle Dynamics/ on it)...also, edited the entry of registry where the OB pointed to "D" to point now to "S" and it works fine as I use the Start menu shortcuts to update and such and have no issues. The thing is...how is possible that the log of the crash now point to D drive which no longer even exist (I already deleted all traces of DCS from that drive):huh:?¿?¿?: # -------------- 20170802-101927 -------------- D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\CockpitBase.dll # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 947FE5D4 00:00000000 00000000 00000000 0000:00000000 947FE5D4 00EFEB70 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\CockpitBase.dll ?set_string@ceStringPoly@cockpit@@QEAAXPEBD@Z()+34 8FB8F85E 00EFEBC0 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\M-2000C\bin\M2KC_CPT.dll 947F84B8 00EFEC40 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\CockpitBase.dll ?update@ceSimple@cockpit@@UEAAXXZ()+1F8 947DE43A 00EFEC80 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\CockpitBase.dll ?update@ccIndicator@cockpit@@UEAAXE@Z()+9A 947DE035 00EFECB0 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\CockpitBase.dll ?update@ccIndicator@cockpit@@UEAAXXZ()+55 946F248E 00EFED10 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\CockpitBase.dll ?draw_update@ccCockpitContext@cockpit@@QEAAXXZ()+10E 95651E8A 00EFF600 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\Visualizer.dll ?Render@SceneManager_Implement@@UEAAXXZ()+55A 0DF307C6 00EFF670 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe 0DF3A0EE 00EFF6D0 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe 0DBE2E4D 00EFF700 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe 0DBE46B9 00EFFDD0 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe 0E0708DF 00EFFE10 0000:00000000 D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe CBF08364 00EFFE40 0000:00000000 C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNEL32.DLL BaseThreadInitThunk()+14 CE9B70D1 00EFFE90 0000:00000000 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll RtlUserThreadStart()+21 can this be the cause of the crash?what do you think?...many thanks and sorry for the inconvenience mate!! EDIT:Nevermind, wrong crash file, my fault!:doh:

Great!, thanks a lot for your fast responses mate!! ...yeah, looks like thats what happened though, the track I found in there is not even of the last 6/7 missions, maybe because all of the last ones I had a crash but not sure...just to let you know in case its relevant. Also, I can confirm that free flight works no problems (tested about 1,5h), which I guess is good to know also. bye mate!!
-
Yeah, as Texac said, i guess this is a WiP thing...the color is not fine but also, how the fog works in general is not fine either, I mean, it doesnt blend correctly with the horizon, the gradient looks odd over the water, it doesnt match the ambien light colour, many issue when entering in the fog (there is a point where mountains look very oddly shaded), its extremely dense even in the max visibility setting, etc. So Im pretty sure they are yet working on it, maybe we will get some "new" improved fog fx and thats why the old one look odd now...anyway, surely its a WiP.
-
Ok, will do!...btw, dindt know about that temp track but...tried it and for some reason is NOT the last mission but a little mission I tried yesterday (not even any of the ones I tried today), is that normal?? thanks again!!

thanks for the fast responses Bignewy, really appreciated!! More info: I have just tried to fly the same mission just changing the m2000s with F-5s...after reaching the waypoint 9 where the big ground vehicles pack is and start attacking them after a rockets pass the image freezed but this time the sound still going in the background and didnt get the "DCS.exe has crashed" message from windows, just after about a minute freezed I decided to close DCS manually so I have no logs this time...hope it can help you. Thanks a lot!!
-
Ok, just removed all mods and repaired...after 10 minutes aproximately in the mission with the m2000 and same crash...I dont know whats wrong with the M2KC_CPT.dll since I havent EVER touched the m2000 cockpit  logs attached. Will try with othe planes. EDIT:btw, something I have noticed since last update is that RAM/Vram/pagefile usage is MUCH lower (like half the amount available in all of them)...could this be an issue? crash info 2.rar

Hi bignewy!!, thanks for your help! Well, the modifications Im using are pretty much textures and "minor" fx files, I mean the DoF decreased quality to 50, the increased heat blur (which I have disabled from the options menu) and camera terrain restriction off plus custom camera jiggle, so don't think they can cause such problems right?...only fly missions with m2000 now but I can try with other planes like f-5 or A-10C. Will try disabling all mods. thanks again!

Lots of crashes since 2.5 and even more in the latest 2.5 version...made a little mission and sooner or later, the screen freezes and the sound cuts instantly...windows message tells me that DCS.exe has crashed. The new DCS auto-crash log system doesnt seem to work so i colected the files manually... Free flight is ok and can fly hours without a problem but as soon as there are ground units and some "war fire" the game crashes (sometimes it takes 30 secs, others 20 minutes, others...). Logs and mission attached. thanks!! Crash info.rar

Looking very nice Timghetta, thanks for sharing!!! and take your time, we want a nice and shiny m2000 cockpit!!...btw, could you please add glass material for the gauges, radar screen and such things with glass coating on them? I would love that if possible...:) Again, thanks a ton!!

Yeah, its a weird issue...sometimes (also in 2.2) I noticed that after a while of flying (and after climbing to 20.000ft) the whitecaps were much slower (which is how they should be as right now they are too fast, not talking about "movement" but "developing", I mean the time they take to appear and disappear) but didn't notice the water beahviour as dont remember flying low enough for that but maybe it happened also in 2.2. Personally, I can replicate the issue every time I enable cockpit mirrors so at least is a consistent bug.

[2.5] Horizon rendering issue
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Object Bugs
Good point!, I guess it could be... Thats the main reason I decided to post this...if something changes when it shouldnt, then maybe something else is wrong. Also, I assume that, since the more smoothed horizon needs more work in order to be done, that is how it should look by "default" so maybe something is preventing it to be shown correctly. As I said, not a priority though, I guess the "grphics" guys dont work in the sim core so anyway maybe this could be a thing to work for them. Many thanks for the hard work ED!! -
Have you tried installing the latest nvidia drivers?? also try disabling MSAA, as its known to has issues right now. Cheers!

[2.5] Horizon rendering issue
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Object Bugs
Sorry buddy, but this is NOT a matter of personal preference...it is a bug as long as I have no control over it...let me explain it with an example: imagine now you load a mission and suddenly the mountains are pure red colour when other times they are green (or the correct colour in general)...you would consider that a bug right?...the thing is now I cant be sure if ED wants the horizon to look one way or the other... Maybe Im not the only one who has experienced this or maybe I have experienced it several times without noticing it, I dont know but I guess this can have something to do with the water, or the haze in the world or the MEs fog (which is also buggy) so maybe all these things are related...this could help to identify a bigger issue is what I want to say also... Anyway, I want to make clear that Im not posting this because "I like one look more than other" by any means but because this shouldnt have happened, it should look one way or the other but not both without any control... Hope its clear now. Thanks! -
Hi, let me "introduce" a bit this issue...since the release of the so expected 2.5 version, something I noticed was that the "line of the horizon" wasnt as smooth or softly faded as it was in 2.2... I noticed this because its something I have always been "fussy" as you are constantly looking at it and in real life I have always loved how smooth and incredibly well blended the terrain and the sky are most of the time giving a very NATURAL look to the world instead of feeling artificial and "computer graphics", so while its something many of you might not even notice/care, I actually do. Thing is, after this last week enjoying the new 2.5, yesterday by chance, while testing a Harrier skin, I noticed that the horizon looked VERY smooth just like it used to look in 2.2 ...well, I started to think I was just crazy but after all this last week getting used to the new look why would this time give me that impression, I thought?¿?¿?...then I decided to take some screens, just in case...and so I did...after a while testing several times of day and seasons, I started to be more and more certain about that it looked different and BETTER. Tried several missions and planes, as well as altitudes and definitely it looked better or as good as 2.2, a very nicely smoothed horizon rendering!!! it looked BEAUTIFUL at any time of day!!! then, I decided to exit DCS and start it again to see if thing remained the same and...NO!!!! The nice and smooth horizon was again more harsh, just like all the rest of the week...I tried the same mission of the Harrier skin (which I decided to save) and many other combinations trying to replicate what I did, in order to make it happen again, but sadly, no luck  ...good thing is I took some new screens, as close to the first ones as possible, and BANG!!!, I was right!!!!!, for some reason, the rendering of the horizon was different in that particular time (thanks God I took the screens, otherwise now I would think Im crazy :P)... Though compression to jpg is atrocious (it was much, MUCH more noticeable in game, I swear) here are the pictures were you can how the horizon looks much smoother/more blended in one than the other: smooth: not so smooth: smooth: not so smooth: smooth: not so smooth: As you can see (I think it looks easier in resized mode btw), the upper images have a clearly smoother horizon line (you actually struggle to really see any line at all) while the others you can see the "line" that separates the land from the sky. Of course, the mission is the same, same time of day, same spot, same altitude, same weather, same FoV (default), same everything as you can see in the info bar (well, distance to plane can be slightly different but it doesnt matter) and for some reason, the horizon looks different. Once again, though difference might seem little, thats not the case when running DCS, thats why I inmediately noticed it after all this week... this is due to the compression of the pictures and then compression of jpg, please take this into consideration. I have tried dozens of combinations and loaded the mission dozens of times trying to make it look like that particular time but couldnt replicate it, maybe because the time that happened I had been flying a bigger mission for a long time before which I couldnt do after, will try later. I know some of you might think this is not very important, but the thing is I consider it a BUG, as I cant find a reason for this change so it should not happen then!...at the same time it makes me wonder if the reason why it looks different from 2.2 is due to a bug instead of an intended change and so I decided to post this thread. Well, many will find this quite "crazy", but as I said, I think its a bug after all, and as such, I dont know what else can be wrong so here I report it...also, I usually look at how sims render the horizon because once you are flying, its makes a BIG difference on how NATURAL you perceive the environement. Finally, hope you guys see the difference (tell me Im not crazy please :P) as well as the ED team...not a priority maybe, but something to be addressed after all. Many thanks!! Edit: forgot to mention that I repaired a couple of times, deleted the old metashaders folder, also refreshed the options file and have no mods installed other than skins. Also, my 2.5 comes from my 1.5.8 beta which was also a vanilla install.

Looks really well Timghetta!!!, thanks a lot for your hard work!!:thumbup: @Flia: I don't think the pit is too dark mate...what happens is that F-5 for instance, has "cockpit Global Illumination" tech on it thus, light bounces trough the surfaces illuminating them and as its a pretty much milky cockpit it looks much more iluminated...not the case of the M2000...in real life, cockpit would be perceived as "very dark" compared to the outside...look for instance to this video and check how dark it looks (I know cameras are not like the human eye but gives you an idea of what I mean): Btw, now that we are talking about cockpit global Illumination...are you going to implement it for the M2000 also Timghetta???, would be amazing!!! Again, many thanks for your work guys!!:thumbup:
