  1. I was just replying to the "the 'basic' IFF is the simplest realistic IFF that the hornet actually has in real life" part that it isn't that "simple" in RL.
  2. In real life there are encryption codes that the friendlies must have entered to work.
  3. Couldn't have said it better. Thank you..
  4. Heck yeah! :cheer3nc:
  5. I don't think there would be that much difference in real life in the sound between the RPM's. If you have a video reference somewhere that has gun sound at both HI & LO that would be nice. Otherwise ED just needs to alter the gun sound to be almost the same as F-16, in cockpit, instead of the A-10 one that we have now.
  6. It doesn't work that way. Folks, you have to be patient. The hornet has only been in Early Access for 2 weeks. Learn the current systems and procedures properly, they are quite a handful and enough to get you through to the next batch of new features.
  7. That, plus I prefer the team focus on perfecting the current systems like the FCS and cockpit bugs first before adding new features that will probably bring even more bugs to add to the current ones.
  8. Use those numbers (From NATOPS p.351):
  9. I thought there was a discrepancy between mission-editor weight and DDI checklist weight too. Glad this isn't just me.
  10. The in-game tint is about right. It's the darkness that might be a bit too much in my opinion.
  11. Thanks ED for acknowledging and actively working on solving this. FCS is pretty quirky at the moment in takeoff/landing regimes.
  12. I'd do that in a more formal setting. For now I assume a reader will implicitly understand 'vapor' as 'vapor condensation' or just 'condensation' :smilewink:. Anyhow, my guess is that ED is still not finished with this. Remember they also promised over-the-wing vapor, and even shockwave cone, so it's all still work in progress.
  13. Yep, vapor is not exactly dependent on G, but more so on the local conditions. You can have a level flight and still get lex & wing vapors, although that mainly happens at really humid places (e.g. at sea in the summer) and at relatively high speeds (more than mach ~0.7). Here is a nice read from Wikipedia on this subject. I know the correct term is 'condensation' but I stick with vapor for conciseness.
  14. They're all the same dude. The 'tint' gets reduced for your eyes when there is a lot of brightness ahead, making you think there was no tint to begin with.
  15. Just a reminder folks, the tint .. Perhaps the darkness is slightly exaggerated, but the tint is an attempt for realism. Haven't seen it anywhere mentioned that the tint was for the players to "be able to see the HUD symbology during the day". If the real hornet drivers had to cope with HUD darkness, then I want to have the same limitation since I'm trying to simulate the real deal, otherwise I'd be flying 'jets' in battlefield.
  16. The pull up is normal, expected and is controllable (by trim). It's the oscillations that aren't and are currently a known issue by ED who are currently working on it.
  17. What needs a patch or not is not a matter of opinion; DCS is a simulator, there shouldn't be features to please the players but to be as realistic as the real thing as possible.
  18. We should wait till trim behaviour in landing configuration is improved. This is just a workaround. A RL Hornet pilot confirmed ED knows about it and that they're working on it.
  19. MPCD HSI is bugged for me too: on data page, whenever i cycle waypoints, the waypoint number on the right as well as the number on the top of the screen stay the same, but the coordinates information changes.
  20. For me I adjust my TrackIR to be a little lower, never have this problem.
  21. Those drums & beat drop after the jet pass... so.. epic!
  22. Just cancelled the 13GB "update" and opened DCS Updater again, successfully updated to 2.8.1.58 and now downloading only 791MB. What is happening.. Why did it not update to .58 the first time?!
  23. That got me wondering if it's possible to increase/decrease the range on the radar by pushing the TDC to the upper/lower border of the Radar Display, like the F-15 & F-16?
  24. You were right, 13 GB remaining now .
