  1. Can the mods move this back to the main F-18 thread? This is more of a how-to instructive video, than a bug report I guess, by a real hornet pilot no less. Thanks!
  2. Hmm, that's where my 'confusion' came from, I have a 1080p monitor.. So this is a problem for monitors at 4k, maybe 2k, that's why I saw no problems on my side. I apolligise guys. So I hope the devs' fix doesn't affect us low resolution people, just the affected resolutions .
  3. Thanks neo keep them coming, and I hope the developers hear your feedback on the flight model and apply the fixes in the coming updates.
  4. Can't thank you enough for your input buddy. I'll stay tuned for your next video & already subscribed.
  5. You do realise that the second image is just lower brightness setting for the HUD right? I already admited that the HUD needs to be slightly reduced for thickness and reduce any blurriness present, but the glowy stuff I don't think would be too realistic..
  6. neofightr has already admitted he was wrong. If you doubt his legit, you can check his older posts where he talks about his deployments at great detail, among other amazing stories.
  7. Your thread is very different than what I believe to be an inaccuracy, and that is that the VV has too much refresh rate, especially on touchdowns.
  8. Hey man, the speedbrake thing is a minor thing, and I'm sure there is plenty of individual peculiarities between pilots when it comes to those small non-essential procedure.. And there are many differences between how the navy and the airforce works, which I'm not sure which you worked with? Also, the guy said he flew the thing 20 years ago, that's plenty of time to forget a lot of stuff.
  9. I wrote earlier that I heard the same Betty from the sim in one of the RL videos.. So she was definitely used in the real jet. I am regretting now that I didn't save that video to reference it here
  10. Watch Hornet HUD videos. Some elements are even slower than the sim.. I'm actually thinking of reporting that the VV has too much refresh rate.
  11. Tom Cruise confirmed in an interview. Type Tom Cruise on Google, you'll see Top Gun 2 news all over the place.
  12. Barring camera over exposure, those two pictures from the game & RL look almost identical to me.. Just need to reduce lines/text thickness ever so slightly.
  13. Sure, blurriness needs to be toned down a bit/clarity increased, but shouldn't ask for changes based on exaggerated RL pictures of the HUD, due to cameras' inherent imperfection. The OP's picture on the right seems to just have lower brightness for HUD (using the brightness knob on the UFC), nothing fancy. I personally lower the brightness a bit first thing when i'm in the jet.
  14. It's awesome to see that some pilots don't know some mini-features of their birds, shows that you guys can overlook stuff just like normal guys like us :D. BTW, is it normal to struggle with power with gears & flaps full, to the point of using Mil power almost through the whole approach? (with clean bird, no stores, less than 4k lb of fuel no less). Or maybe I've messed up my throttle axis or something.
  15. He got promoted
  16. More so for the velocity vector than the ladder.
  17. What are you talking about? Ok, let's move on, here's the sound in real life: Also:
  18. Here you can see vapour at almost level flight: Notice that the jets are significantly fast, and the vapors were generated when they went past a little pocket that had enough humidity and just the right conditions, and obviously they are at sea.
  19. I remember I heard the betty from the sim in one hornet video, can't remember if it was a documentary or a cruise video, maybe even was a superhornet, but it was the only time I heard it.. All the other videos I watched, be it HUD tapes or otherwise, had the betty from the falling leaf video so I assumed that only very late hornets got the updated betty sounds.
  20. Don't forget that pictures don't reflect how it actually looks like to the naked eye. If they did then the HUD would disappear and re-update every few seconds, like you can see in most videos due to refresh rate mismatch between the camera & hud. Edit: Take a look at this, & notice how the HUD is so bright that it's almost white, definitely due to camera exposure or similar:
  21. Have you tried using the brightness knob to your liking?
  22. Hey, sorry to revive this but I thought I could help with this good example of how it should look like at launch:
  23. I think you can do that by yourself, by changing the "gain" value in its sdef file.
