How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
harf4ng replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Indeed. Maybe I should try that. And use the software of the device just for games that do not allow such setup, like star citizen for instance... Though I guess this will not allow macros, like for instance flaps down then neutral again ^^ -
How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
harf4ng replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Looks interesting. Just wonder, isn't it possible to use also the included device driver software to setup things like that? For thrustmaster the software is TARGET if I remember well. I don't have a thrustmaster, so I don't know, but I own a saitek TPM with nine switches that behave like that, and with the saitek software you can emulate a key when the switch is down (button pressed) and another key when the switch is up (button released). Of course, that will require that the keyboard is well setup in DCS, and that the device is setup in its own software, and not DCS. (Have not read the 18 pages, so sorry if this has been discussed before) -
Buttkicker Gamer 2 - Whats your settings???
harf4ng replied to Deigs's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I bought a buttkicker gamer 2 and just installed it in my obutto r3volution cockpit. I use the spdif output because my headphones are 7.1 (steelseries siberia 800). So, I had to buy some hardware to be able to connect the gamer 2 : - a SPDIF splitter, so I have the sound output connected to both the buttkicker and to my headphones ; - a SPDIF to RCA converter, as the buttkicker needs RCA and do not have a spdif input ; - and to connect the buttkicker to my RCA converter, I used a male male single RCA wire, so on one end I plug the wire provided with the buttkicker, on the other end the adapter provided with the buttkicker, but then I had female rca on both end so I had to get male male RCA to connect them. Now, in the doc they advice for games to put low cutoff to on, high cutoff to on, and freq knob to 40 hz. But do I have to setup something special on my computer? They suggest to put bass level to 50% min, but on windows 10 I do not know where is such a setup. Also, do you think I should put some isolated mat below my obutto, to not have issues with my neighbor? And what kind of stuff? Also, I guess I have to either switch starting music of DCS to off, or to put the buttkicker to on only when I'm on the runway, as if I do not, the seat is vibrating just with the starting music ^^ Thanks -
[Review] Simped F16/USB vs. MFG Crosswind
harf4ng replied to [DBS]TH0R's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
About the fighter plates, the thing is, I'm flying helicopters too, and in helicopters we do not have the whole foot on pedals. In the small plane I'm flying in real life, the same ;) So I'll wait ^^ Moreover even if I decide not to wait, the line is so long that we have to wait for march ^^ Meanwhile, I'm still using my racing pedals, throttle and clutch as rudder :) It works in DCS, and in x-plane (though only with a free plugin for x-plane, and it works without any plugin in DCS) -

harf4ng replied to [DBS]TH0R's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have seen a lot of testimonials saying how good those pedals are, and that you should buy them, now we need information about how to WAIT for the pedals to be ready, once we have decided to buy them ;) Especially for me, as I'm waiting for their fighter plate version, I don't want to have my whole foot on the plate. ^^ -
Do you have such a zoom out in DCS 2.0 too?
-
Though the issue is just that with my triple screen setup I have to setup a very close zoom in fov in order for the fov to be good after the zoom out. Therefore the plane is unflyable with such a zoom, and I have to pause the game and wait for the good zoom out to be ok, or I have to manually change the zoom.

Btw as the lights are knobs, any way I can use the knobs on the X55 throttle for that purpose? Thanks
-
I saw two lights left or right, but have not found out yet how to lit them :)
-
Yeah thanks just found out ;) I searched for switches but those are knobs... btw is there a way that when a mission starts in flight and in the knight, to turn those on automatically at mission start, to prevent the pilot to have to do it while flying? :)
-
Hi, Some missions start early in the morning, and I see nothing on the instruments... How do I turn on the panels light? Thanks Edit: ok I found, those are the rheostats on the right ;) But they need power to be connected of course ^^

Hi, When we start a flight, the game has a given view, then slowly zoom out to get another view... I know the snap views are configured in snapviews.lua, in our user config folder. Now, my question would be, how to make that the game just starts at the view we want, without any zoom out after? Thanks

Isn't it possible to import existing PNG from another kneeboard? That would be fine.

Where and why the nosewheel button in real aircraft?
harf4ng replied to harf4ng's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
Maybe but for instance in the Savannah 912S I fly in real life, there is no such thing as a nosewheel unlock button or switch. And no differential braking. I guess this is because the nosewheel is never locked then. Do jets need such a lock system because at the speed they have, the nosewheel will not be sturdy enough if not locked? -
How work groups? Can you easily swap to a given group, or do you have to create bookmarks? Thanks

DCS: F-86F Official Interactive Training Missions
harf4ng replied to derelor's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
I have noticed something in the cold start mission, is that it does not ask to put oxygen on. Isn't it mandatory? In the PDF I have about this plane, this is part of the start procedure... -

And the advantage of nose wheel steering is that this allows the plane to turn faster than a plane without? -
Reworked Cockpit Views with proper Neck
harf4ng replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
To me, trackIR works better in DCS than in x-plane, for instance. In x-plane and trackIR, you can move IN your seat or behind, or move your head outside the plane ;) -

I'm running DCS in triple screen (three 1920x1080 screens) mode, I have about 30 fps, and I find it smooth... -

harf4ng replied to harf4ng's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
Thanks again. Pfff we have to pay to download it :) This one is also wonderful, good quality, though for the E variant I have read... http://aviationshoppe.com/manuals/f-86_flight_manual/f-86.html?pageNumber= -
So, you just have to keep the target in the center of the crosshair and fire? This is how it works? And checking if you're not out of range, but if I'm out of range the enemy plane will be so small I'll not fire anyway :)

Thanks. And do we have info about how works this normal trim switch? btw this scan, where does it come from? And thanks for the link, QuiGon, interesting reading ;) -
Nvidia Surround - 3 Screens
harf4ng replied to Gordon861's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I was, I'm not anymore, I'll sell my wheel. No time to practice enough and to race at given hours, so now I'm doing mostly flight sims and other kind of games... -
Hi, I was following the pdf of the sabre guide, but there is something I don't understand... 1. The guide says to unlock mechanical cage, ok. Unsure what it does exactly, but it changes the big aiming by a small one. 2. Then I have to hold electrical cage. And then what? Do I have to point the enemy plane with the aiming crosshair before releasing the electrical cage button? And now? I see a moving aiming that tries to lock at the target. But what is the effect of this aiming crosshair? To show where I should shoot so with the moving target the bullets will hit? Is this a bit like in space simulation where you have an aiming crosshair that shows you where to aim so with the target movement your bullets will hit? Is there a more in depth fighting tutorial for the sabre somewhere? I was able to hit my target even without that in the instant action mission but I guess this was because my target was not really moving. Also, this plane has a radar, but the radar is just this red light showing up? And then I have to find out myself where the enemy plane is? (I have a problem with that, I often lost my target ^^) Thanks

Where and why the nosewheel button in real aircraft?
harf4ng replied to harf4ng's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
Ok so the default trigger of the X55 stick is good for this. Though yes I can understand you can turn it off and on, but I wondered why this plane especially has this, and not others :) edit : and btw can we find somewhere what all the buttons of the real sabre on the stick are for? I guess belsimtek has all those infos... I think I have more buttons on my X55 than on the real sabre, so maybe I could have a realistic layout... Thanks
