  1. Hello all. I received my Rift CV1 back in July, and while it certainly adds an amazing level of realism, I can not seem to get decent performance out of it. I will admit I am completely spoiled with 4K at max settings, but I understood I would be taking a hit in terms of eye candy. I messed with it for a while but eventually packaged it back up and it was gathering dust for a while. Fast forward to the past couple weeks and I keep watching videos (Bunyap's VR series) and I continually see people getting MUCH better performance than I ever did. I built a new rig recently and broke out the Rift to see if things had improved. And I was rather disappointed. I read over the VR forums here to see what I could do and found some really good information. Particularly BoxxMan's thread on VR controls. Tonight I sit down to check things out, this time using the in sim FPS counter. Oddly, no matter what I changed, my FPS hovers at 12-15FPS. I tried adjusting all the different sliders, tested pixel density from 1.5-2.5, even used the VR preset, but all my efforts failed to change anything. Like I mentioned above, I know its not going to look like what I am used too in 4K, but I should easily be getting better FPS. So here I am asking the community for ideas. My limited knowledge of VR is exhausted, and I am at a loss. The one thing that stands out is the lack of any change in FPS despite tons of changes. The only other thing I have not tested is changing monitors. My Rift is plugged in to my Titan via a DP to HDMI adapter as my monitor uses the only available HDMI port. But I cant imagine this having much effect on the performance. So, any ideas? As usual, help is greatly appreciated.
  2. I usually use the suggested assignments in Chucks guide when he releases it. Hopefully he got an early access build as his guides are what I consider an invaluable contribution to the community.
  3. Side note for what it's worth. English is the international language of aviation.
  4. So having just watched the entire livestream from this past weekend, the lack of a proper light effect for the beacons is triggering the OCD side of me. In the stream we frequently see that the lights are bright enough to illuminate aircraft around you. Yet there is no light visible from the beacons themselves. I know it's mostly a minor detail, but immersion....
  5. I'll throw my vote in for this option as well. This module already looks to be a very detailed, in depth simulation. Probably only second to the A-10C as far as complexity. Having an English cockpit option at launch, or very shortly thereafter, would be much appreciated.
  6. That makes it very easy to see. But now that makes me wonder about its visual effect. The light seems very dim at best. As you can see in the video below, the beacon should be much brighter.
  7. Thanks. I just watched Bunyap's 5th video and the location of the top beacon is clear as day. Must have never seen it turned on. Yeah, I'm one of those guys that likes to follow general lighting rules, and does flight control checks during startup. :)
  8. Forgive me if I am blind, but I don't recall actually seeing either the top or borrow beacons in the pre-beta videos. The light from the lower beacon is prominently displayed on external store, but I have never noticed the lights. I am reasonably sure I have never seen the top beacon on as well. Have any of you?
  9. There are plenty of other servers where you can go "Airquake" if you like. The 104th has a great server for that. But those of us that fly the the full fidelity modules, there is quite a bit of start up time involved before we can get into the action. The starting fuel level is an attempt to somewhat even out the time it takes for everyone to get going. My very unpopular wish is a server similar to OC with all the quick start FC3 fighters removed from the mission. I would host a server like this if I had any idea how to create a server. And I would be willing to bet I am not the only one that would like a server like this.
  10. Yay! Thank you so much for your efforts sir.
  11. I will throw another very sincere thank you into the ring here for your fantastic maps. I am looking forward to them being updated with all the recent changes as well. Thank you again sir!
  12. I will throw my hat in the ring here as also having the same issue with VR.
  13. I was afraid of this happening with the Viggen. There are still flaws as we all know, but when even ED does not know what the official state of a module is, its disheartening at best.
  14. I also would love to see the awesome project updated if the author has the time. Thank you sir.
  15. Thank you very much for the informative answer. I tried searching multiple terms such as Ferris, Missing, Texture, and a few others, but apparently not in the right combination. Thank you again for the very helpful reply. I do appreciate it.
  16. Ok thanks. Care to share the location of said post as the search finds nothing. Helpful answers are generally the best course of action rather than smug remarks.
  17. Hello all. As the title says, in DCS V1.5.5, any time I try to load the Ferris skin, half of the aircraft is not textured. This leads me to believe that one of the textures is corrupted or missing. What is the best course of action to take in order to fix this issue? Thanks.
  18. I jumped all over the support team at the company that hosts the Teamspeak server. Apparently they got it up and running since I last checked. Glad it's up and running,
  19. Teamspeak server is down. I will post here when it gets sorted out.
  20. TLDR- ED discovered a problem, fixed it and did not communicate it properly. This all could have been prevented by including a note in the weekly newsletter. Some time in the next "Two Weeks" ED will have a gifting system in place, and this will all go away.
  21. This may not be a popular post, but basically ED implemented a stop gap measure to prevent the transfer of keys in a manner they do not approve of. It clearly was not well thought out and appears to be a completely reactive not proactive measure. This could have been handled and communicated in a much better manner but profit was at stake. And at the end of the day that's what ED is all about. As is any business. But in this case, like many others, the actions of the minority punish the majority. Kinda like gun control if you know what I mean. In my case ED transferred the licenses I purchased as a gift for my friend to his account. But this certainly appears to be a black eye on ED and they are now scrambling to solve a problem that they created without thinking of the consequences. The ones I really feel sorry for are the moderators that are now having to try to help save face while the development team hurries for a fix. I do apologize as I am not typically one to leave negative posts but ED brought this on themselves.
  22. I got my order today and I must say the construction is amazing! To those that do not have them already, buy a set of the hex head tools when you place your order. Here I finally got the time to sit down and put together this wonderful setup, and I will have to wait until I can go out and get a 5mm and 6mm hex head key set. Or at the cost of $100 each for the mounts maybe the required tools for assembly could have been included in the kit. This is pretty much the standard.
  23. I am happy to report that I finally received a proper response from the ED customer service team. My issues have been settled. When posting (ie complaining) on the forums about an issue, you have to be sure to go back and let folks know when your requests have been resolved. Thanks to the ED team for resolving this issue in a timely manner.
  24. This is exactly what I asked for in my support ticket. I requested that the licenses I purchased for my friend be transferred to his account. A simple look at my account history would show that I have done this with every module my friend owns. But as I posted above my request was completely ignored and I was given a generic response. Not thrilled with the customer service right now.
  25. Just got a reply to my support ticket from none other than Matt Wagner himself. Contents of the reply are below. Matt Wagner03-11-2016 18:39:27Quote Hello, This service had to be suspended due to rampant EULA violations of people trading and sharing keys. We hope to have a new Gift service in the future. Thanks This feels like a form message at best. Did not even address my issues or concerns. So I guess this is ED's attitude to a long term customer who has purchased every single module. And many others for my friends. Very disappointed with ED right now.
