Hey guys! Loving the Rift after getting used to the lower resolution than my 1440p setup. One thing that is really bothering me though is pop-in. In both 2.0 and 1.5, my peripheral vision can catch the pop-in of other planes parts as they are rendered. The group I fly with flies a lot of formation, and turning my head left and right, I can see the plane as it is rendered as a "pop in", piece by piece (rudder, tail, aileron, etc etc). If it would render these just a little sooner on the edge of vision this would be great- is this a setting somewhere? In 1.5, I am having an issue with shadows from clouds doing the same thing. They just pop in and out, which is incredibly annoying- especially over water. Using flat shadows, High textures, Low terrain textures if it matters. Thanks!

Su-25 Frogfoot VR Mission - Tskhinvali Interdiction

I love the presentation of your videos man. It is a great blend of cockpit, external, and tacview. -
This is awesome :) Any recommendations for getting ones feet wet in online play like that? Seems a bit intimidating!

A few screens taken from training night 6-7-16. Older pictures from 5-31-16.

I noticed sometimes my sensor will stop working, or like you... the HMD will not turn on even when activating the sensor to do so. I restart the Oculus service and it is usually good to go then. I just dropped a restart command in a .bat file on my desktop and when I notice something finicky with my HMD/Sensor, I just double click it to restart the service.

I know there isn't an ingame setting for it, so can't check there. I looked in graphics.lua for a peek, and saw that sync=off. I assumed that was vsync, but maybe not?

Something was definitely capping my FPS in 2.0 vs 1.5. I had vsync turned off in the CP, still limited to 60FPS in 2.0, was getting 90 in 1.5. I ended up just overclocking my monitor to 90Hz (I used to run it at 96Hz), so I now get 90FPS in 2.0 as well now. It was absolutely the "lazy" workaround, but I got tired of triple checking the config files for vsync, maxfps, nvidia control panel settings, etc. I just couldn't find anything different between my 1.5 and 2.0 installs.

Air to Air Refueling. It is absolutely mind blowing. The sheer scale of the tanker is intense. VR makes it so much easier because of the depth perception too. You can judge the throttle inputs so much easier, and just.. wow. It is so much fun refueling.

Anyone is playing MP in VR without major stutters?

I noticed that after every reboot, my overclock speeds are dropped. I have to re-apply my overclock settings to my EVGA 980Ti card. Doesn't matter if i use NVIDIA Inspector or EVGA Precision X. I am also locked to 60FPS in 2.0, but not 1.5, using same settings. I have the same autoexec.cfg file created and placed in the 1.5/20 saved games/config directory with a maxfps of 90 setting. It is really odd. Disabled vsync in NVIDIA Control Panel as well.. no help. -
I am having the same problem as well- my FPS in 2.0 is capped to 60 FPS. I created autoexec.cfg in the correct directory and added the maxfps liine of 90. I disabled vsync in the NVIDIA control panel. Not sure what else to look at. :(

These are amazing! Too bad I was busy making big black smoldering holes on the carrier deck. Or water ;)

Hey guys- So I got tired of having to move around my old PVC mount. It was cumbersome, took up a lot of space, and made it hard to want to fly. I saw the MonsterTech HOTAS mounts made in Germany. After the initial sticker shock ( a little over $200 USD shipped to USA), I figured I would give it a shot. I am not the handiest person and wanted a nice looking, easy to use solution. It is really really nice. It is easy to clamp and unclamp so I can move my joystick out of the way when I'm not flying. I can easily modify it to be Center mounted or Side mounted. I have a 10cm extension on my Warthog and there is still about an inch of clearance when it is fully pushed forward. The only negative I have is that it shipped with no instructions. Once I figured out how things worked, it wasn't too bad to put together. Adjusting the height is simple enough as well. It ships with a little breaker bar you can put over your hex wrench to really torque it down. This thing feels absolutely solid. Happy with my purchase. It is a high quality solution that works right out of the box. It feels fantastic and being able to adjust it to ergonomically fit me and my chair is great. Just thought I would share.

This looks fantastic!

Or for modules that don't have training missions. When I started playing with the F-15 not too long ago... That was a lot of fun scrounging up some training material.

I was just joking. :) I need 100% concentration just to operate the MFCDs, so dragging the latest season of House Of Cards over one of them probably isn't the best idea.
-
It would be awesome to drag in a YouTube tutorial window or something so you could follow along procedures as you are seeing the video display it. Or watch Netflix on those long hops. :D

My Rift arrives from Best Buy tomorrow! So excited!

Got my JetSeat in and it is awesome. First off, shipping was crazy fast. I got it in 5 days from the time it went "Shipped" to in my hand. That is unbelievable. Knoxville, TN if anyone cares. Saw it leave Moscow, come through JFK in NY, and then here. The product is awesome. My only recommendation to anyone is that if you enable the G-Force options.. put some deadzones and/or lower the vibration. It is a little louder than I anticipated, and having it go off ALL THE TIME was a bit annoying. Once I tossed some deadzone and lowered the G-Force intensity, this thing is awesome. The stall vibrations, gun vibrations, the vibrations when you hit the runway, etc are all terrific.

That is why I am keeping my pre-order with my July date. My unit from BB is shipping and will be here Wed. Once it all checks out and no probs after a couple weeks, I will cancel my pre-order. If there is a problem, all BB will be able to do is refund my money- not give me a replacement since they more than likely will not have any in stock.

At the end of the day, I'm all for everyone to play DCS the way that works for them. If you play with labels, cool. If you play with enlarged models, cool. If you want the full sim experience and want to follow 100% procedures when flying, cool. DCS is so adaptable and I love that it can be accessible to those who want to just hit "Go!" and their off... and to the hardcore simulator fan. I feel most of us are somewhere in the middle depending on what we want out of the game. And it can provide that for us.

It is quite a bit deeper than IL-2. I used to play IL-2 a ton years and years ago. I had a ton of fun with that game but DCS is a whole other ballpark.
