Connection Timeout
Bond 42 replied to BSS_Sniper's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Im having the same issue... but only on the Virtual Aerobatics 1.5. All other servers on 1.5 and 2.0 work perfectly. Any updates? -
I haven't seen any warning.. I've had the chat open and it just happens.

Hi all, For the past 2-3 weeks on DCS 1.5 beta, every time I connect to the server I join like normal. I jump in a plane and within just a few minutes.. normally as soon as I takeoff, I end up getting disconnected. The disconnect message says- Connection Timed Out. Server Ping Timeout. This is the only server I have this issue on... I can go on the Virtual Aerobatics server on 2.0 with no issues. My average ping on your server is 30-50. DCS user name - Bond 42 Hope you can help, Thanks!

I'm not sure how he came up with people IRL making up their own procedures and all... Flying in certain parts of the world can be "cow -boyish", but for the most part it's all done the right way from my experience.
-
I used to be based in Lga and flew the Emb-170 myself. Good pic!
-
Shooting the expressway visual 31 to LGA in the EMB-170? [emoji39]

Wish I could have walked up and checked it out, but it started to rain. Pics didn't come out too good.. But pretty cool!

The biggest problem I see is having certain aircraft unable to put in, for example an ILS frequency and tuning the course. Unless I just don't know the keyboard commands but in the F-15 I'm unable... And I'm guessing that's the same for all FC3 aircraft? If we can at least tune a VOR/Tacan/Loc in all aircraft it can work... And like Sniper mentioned, the Nav-Aids need to be checked/fixed from what they currently are to make them accurate if they are not. Picture is a real life example of flying a mission and returning to base, only to find a sand storm blowing in. Low fuel, divert is too far.. Shoot the ILS. If we can add "IFR" weather to certain areas on the map so you can fly your missions, etc, but get to do an instrument approach at the end could be fun, and realistic.
-
Ohh gotcha. Lol I didn't even realize they can be added until you started talking about it. I think it would be cool to have a few here and there.
-
Sweet screen shots! Very cool. RPGs aren't that accurate, and most times don't hit the aircraft in real life also.. But when they get lucky they get lucky ha.
-
Like I said previously, I've been there.. It does happen.
-
No one else seemed to notice, but I'm glad to see they fixed the Nav light.. Lol. Looks great, looking forward to it!
-
When I was doing my thing in the "sandbox", this did happen. RPGs were shot to attempt to shoot down Helo's. Most aren't a good shot... but a few did get lucky. That being said, they aren't real "soldiers" using these tactics.. But it is real if you are able to add it [emoji106]

I do understand Snipers point of view since I fly real life myself.. But I have also flown missions overseas in real life also. Yurgon, is correct.. We do try our best no matter what the weather to support our ground assets. So flying in weather/low vis "sand storms" did happen.
-
Ok gotcha... But on the ground with a wind or not, you'll never read ground speed because you're not in the air...
-
What do you mean by put it on the ground against the wind? Sorry I don't understand.
-
Gotcha... Maybe it shows ground speed in the external view?
-
Hey Pocket, You're talking about it giving you a true airspeed in the 430-450 range, when indicating 400? That sounds about right for the altitude...
-
Agreed, looks pretty close to real-life.. Wish there were some night flying mp servers. Would be fun!

Questions questions questions!!! I took RW to mean Helo.. Lol sorry. Not real world. I am a real world pilot who flew FBW aircraft. That's where my comments are coming from, not from a sim lol. Agreed on what you're saying then... That being said though, not every FBW aircraft was built to keep you within those envelopes..
-
Fixed wing aircraft with FBW, you do feel.. Literally like a normal plane. That's from my experience flying them. Maybe RW is different...
-
FBW doesn't mean it removes the feeling from the flight controls... Most planes will give artificial feel..as the pilot you really wouldn't know much difference when flying.

To help answer question #4. Military Ops allowed us to fly 500ft vertical separation if we accepted that from ATC, 1000ft was normal without pilots permission. Also, 1000ft vertical separation was used for unmanned aircraft as they don't always have the best control over them.. Ha. If you're flying within the states or any other ICAO country we have separation rules set by airspace as previously stated earlier. Hope that helps a little..

Haha nice! Would love to get some time in the C-117D, very cool.
