Yep, it's a little arcade like, but not too much as long as the own position marker isn't there. We just assume the other pilot marks the appropriate spot you tell him (the arcade part), and then as long as they know where they are they can plot a course to your marker. Now if only we could drop radio beacons, and then home on those.
-
I do think the kneeboard marking needs to have an option to disable it. The kneeboard position is a far cry from the F10 position though. It's really only giving you a very general position since you can't zoom it. The F10 can give you a GPS position. I'm not sure how you handle the F10 view, but I can ignore all my instruments in the game, and just navigate using F10. It makes things way faster too, because I can spool up and go. At some point I'll need a more precise direction, so I'll open F10, draw my line, then head off where I need to. Without my aircraft position I wouldn't be able to do this.

You can use the Doppler navigation (drift, distance, map angle) in the Mi-8 to get where you need to. The only modern modules that I'm aware which have less than ideal (although possible) navigation are the FC3 planes. I'm in agreement. If the own position map marker was removed the markers wouldn't be such a big deal, though I don't think they'll be a big deal as it stands anyway since all the assets are static.

Okay Al Gore, how can I not have a clue when you're spelling out exactly what you want? I only mentioned 16AGR because it's what you spelled out, and yes I like 16AGR because like I said I'm not all about uber realism all the time. You want BuddySpike to turn Blue Flag into a casual experience which suits your needs because you're unable or unwilling to run that type of server yourself, and apparently unable or unwilling to check out other servers. Since there are endless amounts of air quakes servers, and at least one casual dynamic campaign, I personally don't want to see the single slightly hardcore server go the casual route. Unlike you, I don't think there is only one server out there.

A meme is inherently insulting. It is used to make fun of. What do you think the two weeks is making fun of? The developers. When you have an argument with me, and then throw in Redfor memes, what are you making fun of? Me, because I'm playing on Redfor. You can try to disguise it by encompassing all of Redfor, but you're indirectly pointing your finger at me.

Okay, I'm not an uber realism freak, but lets let Blue Flag remain the realm of harder core please. I really like an environment where I actually have to plan a little, and navigate using the in game systems modeled in my aircraft which the developers spent so much time on. I want to see Blue Flag move more in this extreme. It sounds to me like Blue Flag isn't for either of you honestly. It sounds like you should be playing on 16AGR which is Blue Flag (dynamic campaign), but with all the things you require. You can see your teammates on the F10 map, you can see yourself there, you have external views, you can place the makers, you get AWACS notifications, you get nukes, you get sling loads, you get convoys, you get the world! Perhaps you should check it out.

You're twisting what I'm saying. You keep saying that choppers can't be detected with radar if they fly slow, and I keep saying they can. The only time I mentioned range was in that the F-15C will detect a target further than the Su-27, and apparently according to your evidence further than the Mirage too. BTW all this meme shit is quite rude, and insulting.

Solty, I'm finding myself agreeing with DavidRed here. You really need to buy the module. It just sounds like you're complaining all the time. Also, the title of your post is misleading or you don't know what a stall is. The aircraft in your video enters a full (stall). It should probably read "Spin does not occur in stall". As others have mentioned it would appear the slats are what prevent this. I'm not sure if you own FC3, but you can get in a Su-27 which also has leading edge slats, and stall her in the same manner as that 109 video portrays. I keep seeing you, and Solty harp on the 109 so much. Does it shatter some imaginary world you live in?

Dude, you said radar isn't going to pickup a slow target, but now you're saying it isn't going to pickup a target in the notch. This is a completely different statement. Not to mention you talk about notching in a Ka-50 which doesn't have any idea it's being tracked. Reaper does not notch you people. You really have no idea what he does. He simply has an uncanny ability to spot things, and most of the time he's facing targets ready to nail them with Vihkr's should they decide to engage him. I can only echo Skippers statement below.
-
I will test again. Can you tell me which helicopter you used? Perhaps the RCS has something to do with this.
-
If results hold true, then speed makes a difference against a Mirage, but doesn't matter for the F-15C/Su-27, so the end result is flying slow isn't necessarily going to save you. Also getting anywhere at 80 km/h is going to take so long you can rest assured one of those super planes is going to get you in that time.

I tested this several months (after February) back with VentZero in both an F-15C and Su-27, and both aircraft are capable of picking up a helicopter as long as its wheels are not on the ground. It doesn't matter whether the helicopter is moving or in a hover. The F-15C is capable of picking up the target at a greater distance than the Su-27, but they both will eventually see it. Having terrain in the background as mia has stated made no difference. The only thing which seemed to determine whether the helicopter was detected or not was its relative altitude to the fighter. In other words, if the helicopter is 1 meter off the ground the F-15C/Su-27 would need to be around 1000m to detect it (we didn't test range, so perhaps the fighter can be higher if closer), but as the helicopter increased altitude the fighters could detect it at higher altitudes as well. These results are not speculation. They were performed in a hosted multiplayer environment in a controlled fashion with the two of us communicating back and forth to determine detection. Edit: Like I said though, it has been several months now, and I've noticed the chopper modules have since attained engine destruction among other enhancements not mentioned in the change log, so maybe the radar has been adjusted as well. It might be time to test detection again.
-
Unless something has changed if it's in the air, it will be detected on radar. Speed of the helicopter doesn't matter.

I won't be able to check until later, but does the chaff/flare counter in the Mig-29 work now too?

I want to see Korea, and Vietnam, but I'd like the next modern round to go back to this for the strikers at least.

Science shows people prefer the color blue 8 out of 9 times.

Yes! Greg, get a couple TF-51's in there. It has an extra seat for snacks, but I could be convinced to let a downed pilot ride along.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BodyOrgan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Don't take it personal microvax, I'm an emotional person. I'm always having to de-rage myself. I maintain math isn't going to tell you everything because you aren't going to be able to put into numbers "what people do", because the unknown can't be measured. Clearly the statistics narrowed your vision to only the performance of an aircraft, and not employment of it. If you really want to know how fast I can start a Huey, I can get this number for you. I'll do it the next time I play. Here's the major take-away that bothers me most. I honestly don't want to play the air quake game. I'm looking to be the backbone handling all the support options, but Blue Flag has really gone down the toilet when it comes to support options. It used to be important rescuing people to get their lives back, it used to be important making fuel runs so CAP/CAS could takeoff, and Redfor had around 4 transport options back then. Now that those roles don't exist or don't matter due to AI refueling aircraft, it only leaves deployment of assets in which we've been gimped two aircraft. It's like I'm playing by myself out there. P.S. I don't think Bluefor should be gimped. They should get the option to fly all the Gazelle's, and Huey. That's what makes it fun. The fun factor on Redfor just needs to be amp'd up a bit. The irony of this statement. Different weak, and strong points is something called asymmetrical balance. If you didn't have this, then most certainly no one would be on the lesser team. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

Neither of you understood what I wrote. I don't know how to make this clear. I'm not speaking about going anywhere, I'm speaking about traveling the 10 clicks to setup defenses. I can guarantee you I'll get a KUB deployed faster in my UH-1 then you will in a Mi-8. I will startup faster, I will land faster, and I'll be traveling to my destination long before you're even airborne. How do I know this? Because I did this with Etherlight in round 5 or 6. Sure, after a couple deployments he eventually caught up, and over took, but I have two KUBS out by then. Nah, forget all that. Here's your next level bullshit. The only thing in Blue Flag the Mi-8 has over Bluefor is it's speed. It can't attack anything in Blue Flag without dying, so all it gets to do is deploy. Then you're going to say OMG OP, so lets give Bluefor 8 transport choppers to completely destroy that speed advantage, but lets not stop there. Lets give 6 of those choppers bomber strike capability, but lets go further, lets take one M, and L, and capture a COMM array. Please go try to do this even with 6 Mi-8's... please I'd love to see it. I'm done with this argument, because Redfor is always OP no matter what. -
What do you guys think of the new Tactical Map labels?
BodyOrgan replied to dooom's topic in Multiplayer
I hope they implement it so that it's a list of users you select to send your doodles too, and a list of users you accept doodles from, and to have server options which prevent sending doodles to those not in own aircraft aka multi-crew, to those not in coalition aka briefing (spectators), to those not flying, this way many scenarios can be covered. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BodyOrgan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
You didn't understand anything I just posted. The Mi-8's performance is completely mitigated based on the type of operations Blue Flag is requiring it to perform, then you're going a step further by giving Bluefor a numbers advantage. Also, exactly how many FARPs are at altitude? MM59 is all I can think of, and naked Huey can handle it fine. Agreed, but I would love to have full on one shot deployments, because keeping people in Mi-8's for extended periods of time is rather difficult. -

Actually if there are 4 transport Gazelle's then Bluefor has 6 transport choppers. I'd love to have this many Mi-8's at a FARP because I'd like to do one shot deployments of EWR, Ammo Truck, KUB, and Igla. It might be a small miracle if Redfor ever has that many Mi-8's, but that's beside the point. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BodyOrgan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I certainly don't agree with your math. You're basing it simply on distance traveled without factoring in any of the other particulars such as time to start, altitude, etc... The calculations for your takeoff/land time is just WTH? Outside of capturing objectives helos don't travel much farther than the 10 clicks needed to deploy their crates. The shorter the distance the more mitigated the differences between the helos. When you factor in the time it takes to start a Huey, and how much quicker it can land (though a really good Mi-8 pilot can probably land nearly as quickly, but most can't) the Huey will make the 10 click trip in equal if not better time than the Hip. Lets step back a minute though, and look at what the lack of choppers really hurt Redfor on. Anytime long distances are concerned the Mi-8 is going to have the advantage, or is it? Bluefor AFAIK has a pretty large one shot deployment advantage. I'm not sure if all the Gazelles can take crates, but according to your math it looks like at least two can. You can deploy 2 Stingers, and an ammo truck in one shot. If you do this out to 20 clicks, then you're going to have a fully operational setup on your first pass, whereas the Mi-8's will have to go back for a 2nd run all the while being in the danger zone without any way of detecting that they're about to die. Basically having only 2 slots is tying our pilots up in Mi-8's for an extreme amount of time just trying to get things operational whereas Bluefor makes one run, and then they can jump in CAP. You have that option because there are umpteen slots.... Redfor isn't even given the option. Math can't tell you everything. -
This sim is full of approximations, educated guesses, dare I say it ...... Make Believe! ... but watch out! MWS is known to cause severe diaper rash in some people. Please! If you don't get help at Charter, get help somewhere.
