Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
BodyOrgan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I played about an hour tonight using my VPN connected through Germany which reduced my ISP's 25 hops down to 7 hops, and avoided the Cogent hop. Even reduced my ping which was 300+ to around 190. Connection was stable. -

Is this sarcasm? Cogent in America is the problem. Moving the server to America or any other country isn't going to help if our connections are routed through the same congested network. Eventually Cogent will add capacity, but until this happens we're stuck in a rut. -

Then for posterities sake I better quote this ;) Edit: BTW Ciribob, there is nothing rude in your post. I honestly get the feeling that BS gets the feelings you mention above when the community craps on your efforts. I was going to make a meme post on top of those posts about Entitlement! Entitlement Everywhere! .... but then I'm too lazy. -

Just because you aren't able to fly doesn't mean the round should be canceled for others. Also, have you not followed the thread at all? There are many posts from players from all sides having connection issues. microvax (a RED player) went into great detail on where the problem is. Perform a traceroute, and see if you have a hop through Cogent. If you do, then you're likely to continue having connection woes till Cogent addresses the issue on their end. If you pay for a VPN service you might be able to connect through their various different servers to attempt to get a route which doesn't go through Cogent. No guarantee though. -

Greg, do think about removing the kill messages again in the future. They give way too much tactical information. It's really hard to stay hidden in a chopper when you destroy a target, and it broadcasts what was killed, and what killed it. -

I don't think the setup is lopsided. The numbers are more even this round, and on average have thus far favored Redfor more. -
To my knowledge the bomb sight is/was planned: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1911538&postcount=1 I believe this post keeps getting misinterpreted: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2629387&postcount=542 There was another post which for the life of me I can't find atm, but essentially it indicated (in broken English, so my interpretation) they weren't going to implement the OPB-1 until they have a more sophisticated AI in place. Not exactly sure why this is needed, but maybe it has something to do with the OPB-1 bomb sight course indicator on the pilots console (AI to fly route?). There is also this post (I think the original is on the Russian forum somewhere): https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2019820&postcount=15 ...which says not yet implemented, but talks about a decision on implementation which I interpret two ways. A decision on how to implement or a decision on whether to implement. Going deeper into the rabbit hole we have this post: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2178480&postcount=141 ... this indicates we don't have door gunners, etc... because they are waiting on multi-crew to by implemented which comes from lessons learned while putting in makeshift door gunners for the Huey. In conclusion they probably really are waiting on multi-crew with AI logic etc. instead of going the makeshift route again. Personally I want the bomb sight more than any other feature, so I really hope they do decide to add it.

I believe there was a bug in DCS preventing to collection of the player GUID without the printing of the server messages. This has since been corrected as proven by the Kaucasus Offensive not displaying these messages, and also using the GUID to track lives. I believe even proven by Blue Flag in its current state as you don't receive messages about what the other team is doing anymore. Edit: Nope, looks like Blue Flag still shows what the other team is doing.

Greg, I request server messages be turned off. I don't need to see who took off where etc... Would also be different if kill messages could be turned off putting the onus on the pilot to figure out if they got the kill or not.
-
I'm sure BS will get back around to that, but I'm good with what they have right now.

I saw in the movie Rambo (based on real life events) that Redfor had a Huey, so for realism's sake Redfor should get a Huey. Bluefor can't have Rambo though cause that would be OP, although Rambo did steal that Huey, so maybe Redfor shouldn't get the Huey after all.

The ghost planes are actually planes. What you're seeing is called model enlargement. The plane is so far away and your monitor simply doesn't have enough pixels to render an aircraft at that distance without it being a dot (single pixel), so the game enlarges the model allowing you to see the aircraft. The problem arises when you begin to approach the aircraft at some point the game determines you're close enough that it can render the aircraft without model enlargement. This creates a small window where you can't see the plane again till you close in some more, and even then you'll probably need to be completely zoomed in to see it.

I didn't have any WWII modules at the time of Case Blue, so I spent most of my time in the TF-51, but I bit the bullet and bought the Bf109 toward the end. This time around I also have the P-51, so I'll be able to fly for either side. I'm looking forward to when it's run again. -

It's legit. Not sure if you get the underlying meaning of my request, but a lot of people treat this not as a game, but more like the Olympics, so they could never root for the other side. Get back to work. Okay, I was trolling a bit with Pink, but if we did have a Hello-Kitty paint scheme I might be able to get my girl-friend to fly  I'll believe this when I see it. -

Greg, can we have the team colors changed to something less polarizing? The statement above while it may be in jest is pretty on point with a lot of people. Just a few posts earlier we already see how the French don't want to fly because their Mirage was moved to Redfor. Green vs Orange / Purple vs Pink / Brown vs Yellow ... Etc etc etc. -

He must have taken a look during server restart when a couple Red might have beaten the horde of Blue into the server. BTW! Congratulations Bluefor! I kept laying my KUBS as promised... though unless it's the Korean/Vietnam version next or BuddySpike implements max team slots I think I'm skipping out for the foreseeable future. -

BodyOrgan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
My point isn't about how hard it is for one side to join or the other it's about the inability for either team to compete when the number disparity becomes as it is. Any other competitive team based games locks the teams to an equal number of slots on each side. This is the only game/event I've ever played which doesn't, and of course you see how it goes. P.S. To quote Beeroshima, I can't join because I should be working. -

BodyOrgan replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
You're straight up wrong with that assessment. During Red's big push there were only 25ish used slots in the server. All Bluefor had to do was join, which is what ended up happening, and why the "big push" came to a stop. With the server locked down with Bluefor players Redfor can't even join. Keep telling me it's a complaint because we're losing though..... of course we're going to lose when we're not even able to show up. -

Blue Flag ... PvE with a splash of P. -
I see what you mean. I read the section a bit closer, and you slave it when you want to point the RMI needle to a frequency not in those presets. Still, it's probably an okay stop gap.
