Bug: The landing gear seems to be too stiff when compared to real footage. Can I reproduce it 100%: yes How to reproduce/ description: No matter how hard i try to touch down, i never can get the suspension to move like i can see it in real footage. In the following clip there are 2 carrier landings of the F-14 at 3:44 and 3:54. And in both you can see how the main landing gear compresses very far, almost to the max and then bounces back up and down until it settles and also the front wheel dives in very deep and almost hits the mechanical stop of the suspenion. In the track file i attached i made a automatic carrier landing and there the main landing gear doesn't bounce at all and the front wheel suspension doesn't dive in so much as in the video. Result: The landingbehavior is at the moment a bit boring as the plane isn't rocking/bouncing/pitching at touchdowns as it should be. This takes away a lot of charme of the carrier landings and also from normal landings. The FC3 Planes like the SU-33 have a very good suspension model at the moment as can be seen in this clip at 3:50 Would it be not possible to adapt the suspension model of the F-14 a bit to the SU-33 for example, as it almost has the same landing gear mechanics? Maybe its also a DCS Problem because the F/A-18C is suffering from the same problem, but even worse than in the Tomcat https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=260545 DCS Version: OpenBeta 2.5.6.50979 F-14 Carrier Landing.trk

Hi Blade, yes it has the same pattern like the warthog gimbal (4 holes, 60 mm distamce between the holes) But my advise is to buy this one, it already comes with all the axes: http://www.realsimulator.com/html/f16sgrh.html I would have bought the collectors edition if I would not already own the FSSB R3 It is keyed in, but you can change the direction of the Axes in the realsimulator firmware. So to turn it you must twist the base and i think this means you need to drill new holes in the virpil desk mount Thank you :)

I was planing to build a F-16 cockpit because it is the best documentet cockpit in the internet and i like the ergonomics (side stick and the seat reclined 30 degrees from vertical). But it doesn't mean that i only fly the F-16. Yes, the displays are just for the looks, as i cant see them in VR. But i have now a lot of buttons to map for the FC3 Planes and when someone wants to see my cockpit it looks so much cooler with working MFDs  And this is my little progress for today, now only the center console with its MFD is missing. I also got a nice Logitech G213 keyboard with very nice green backlighting: Note the 2 mm glass plate. I put it between the TM MFD bezel and the lcd screen. This protects the screen from dust and fingers and it gives the displays a glossy look, a little bit like real MFDs. It looks much better. Everything is green hehe

This is how it should look when its done: And ja, you are right, i added holes to screw them to my pit. I want everything to be rock solid. Maybe i will add more realism to my pit someday haha: Or the whole cockpit: But i abondened the Idea of building a full fidelity cockpit for the F-16 because its just too much work, and VR can give you almost the same felling of sitting inside a cockpit. I draw these CAD models before Palmer Lucky started the VR hype Some Panels i draw for the F-16: Some CAD parts you can see in the pictures were drawn by members of viperpits.org And this is the CAD model of the MFD housing:

Hello Bubbles, they are not square, but 4:3 7 inch displays. It is the smallest Display you can get for the Thrustmaster MFDs: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.A0.H0.XCLAA070MA0ACW.TRS1&_nkw=CLAA070MA0ACW&_sacat=0 The wide side is only 13 mm longer than the MFD bezel. My Old design used a 8 inch display. It was much bigger than the 7 inch displays: Some guys at Viperpits.org found out that some real MFD screens are cut from normal displays. They tried to cut the displays, but it didn't work out: https://www.viperpits.org/smf/index.php?topic=3540.0 So most of them now are using the 7 inch 800x600 displays you can find on ebay, and they are small enough to be used in a real f-16 cockpit and they can use all the instruments around the MFDs: https://www.viperpits.org/smf/index.php?topic=10490.0

Got only little time today, so just small update:

I also see the edges of the display and the"inside of the headset", but i m perfectly used to it and no shadows or halos. If i pull it away from my face to get the round binocular picture i lose some degrees of my fov. And as all displays are rectangular its just logic to se a rectangular picture. If a HMD Manufacturer makes the headset in the way so you can see a round picture then there will be a lot of pixels wasted. And sound is good and loud enough. i have to turn it down a lot as it would damage my ears. For me the best headset on the market for flightsimmers :)

Today i finished my 3 MFD housings vor my pit, which i made with a friend.

Same thing for me. I also used 3 extra 7" displays for mfd export when playing not in VR. All was fine in the in the F-18 but in the KA-50 the Skvahl monitor is set behind the HUD in VR

The main landing gear of the F-18 has two stage suspension. But at the moment the second stage is not damping at all. Here are two pictures that show what i mean. It seems that the high preassure chamber (I call it the second stage of the suspension) is modeled to stiff. No Matter how hard i touch down i cannot make it to move. In the DCS: Supercarrier Preview Video at 1:45 you can see how the second stage is totally stiff. Only the first stage fully compresses at touch down. This results in a boring landing behavior, because the aircraft doesn't bounce like you can see in real videos. Or here at 0:34 you can see how the tail bounces up again after touch down In this video for the Su-33 you can see how a well modelled landing gear should behave and how it bounces after touch down (3:44) I hope someone can look over it, so the landing of the F-18 gets more realistically

Its a normal ATX board so everything is where it should be. The connectors are hidden by a "stylish" ASUS ROG STRIX cover. The fan is just 120x120 and just fits in the case ja i know these but i don't think i like these pads too much. its a lot of work to hide it (i don't like the looks) and then it is just controlled by sound. For flying i only need visuals and sound as feedback and good controls for input. No force feedback, no moving platform or things like that. but thats just my humble opinion :)

hey, thank you. It is the Corsair Carbide 275R with tempered glass window Midi Tower

Hi There, so with VR getting useable in DCS with the HP Reverb i decided to finally build a little cockpit. Since VR showed up a few years ago i stoped dreaming of a full cockpit as it would use to much time and effort when you can get almost the same with a vr headset. Its just 2 wood boxes but its really nice to have the seating position similar to a F-16 instead of sitting on a office chair. And with it now the controlls are rock solid so i can use my Realsimulator FSSB R3 and the throttle detents like it should be. I also added the idea of mounting a steering damper to the pedals. It feels really amazing. To align all the controls like in a real F-16 i used plans from viperpits.org. So my Joystick is tilted 7 degrees forward and my seat about 30 degrees backwards. I also build a PC for DCS VR: The Specs are: 1x ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming Mainboard 1x Intel Core i5 9600K 6x 3.70GHz 1x 32GB (2x 16384MB) Corsair Vengeance LPX schwarz DDR4-3000 DIMM CL16-20-20-38 Dual Kit 1x 11GB ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Twin Fan 1x 1000GB WD Black SN750 Gaming M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 3D-NAND TLC 1x 750 Watt be quiet! Straight Power 11 Modular 80+ Gold 1x be quiet! Dark Rock PRO 4 1x 120x120x25mm be quiet! Silent Wings 3 PWM 1450 U/min 16.4 dB(A) 2x 140x140x25mm be quiet! Silent Wings 3 PWM 1000 U/min 15.5 dB(A)

But he also says that the sreendoor effect is more noticeable with oled because of missing rgb subpixel matrix, and this is much more important for us flightsimmers than good blacklevels. As long as there is no OLED HMD with RGB subpixel matrix i will buy a LCD HMD like HP reverb or pimax 5k+

Hello, I wanted to say that I think there are corrections on the intake needed. When i compare pictures like these with real ones one can see that at the intakes there are 3 small errors. 1. The intake goes straight to the fuselage. On the real plane the intakes are completely round 2. The transition from the intake to the fuselage is not rounded like on the real plane. 3. And the shaft of the turbine is a little to small. On the real plane it is almost always visible when you look a little from the side. In the sim it is very small and you can barely see it. Here in the last picture i marked what i mean. I hope you can see what i mean. What do you think. Should it be changed? For me it destroys a little the look of this great aircraft and i hope it can be changed someday.

I just wanted to say that i hope that the old Airfields someday get a real update. I really like the new updated Caucasus map, but it is a little drawback that important airbases like Sochi and Krasnodar still look like as it was in Lock On, just with more trees and new textures. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=57699 ^ This is what i want for every Airbase

Can you exit the cockpit without bailing out?
Smith replied to SnakeBT6's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Now after the Su-33 PFM is released, for me this is perhaps the most important feature that should be added. It dosn't have to be like ArmA, i only want to hop in and out of vehicles and aircrafts, to look at all the beautiful models and maps we have in dcs world. My dream is to land a aircraft on a rainy day, get to parkposition, shutdown the systems, and then get out of the aircraft, walk around to check if everything is okay and drive away with a jeep that is parked near the aircraft. -
Do you have a link to that video. I didn't see that.

Does the VIVE Zoom really work? why didn't ED wrote it in their changelog. it is so important

Mouse cursor relative to cockpit. Proposed change
Smith replied to Koriel's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The Mouse cursor relative to the cockpit was mentionend in the vr section. I think its a great idea and should be implemented. -
I would pay for crimea. I want it back because of childhood memories with Flanker 2.0 and because of aribases like Saki: Wonderful place to be in VR :pilotfly:

I'm still awaiting a confirmation for the RGB displays and on reddit there are mentioned a lot of problems and i couldn't find any review on the HDK 2 so I'm still waiting with ordering one :noexpression:

Can someone tell me, if the old airbases like Krasnodar or Sochi get an overhaul to the the standart of the new airbases like Mozdok or Batumi, or do they only get new textures. On the pics it seems, that they only get new textures. This would be a little drawback to all the awsome news, because i like the idea of ED to have standards ,and i think one map needs one quality standard for all the airbases.
-
Wow, finally trees around airbases. I always hated it, that there were almost no trees around them.
-
But it is not only a VR problem, because the night isn't very dark in bad weather conditions on my monitor, also.
