  1. Let's turn it around: Why is everyone else flying without an ejection seat?
  2. ha cool, thanks for the documentation. I always thought those things were protective armor for the engines on Hinds. Nice to know what they really are and how they work.
  3. Asfaik it is common that the laser emiters of laser-range-finders on helicopters, tanks and airplanes have to cool down after usage. So I guess just like with all those systems, the laser-range-finder on the Blackshark has to cool down and must not be used continuously or it will burn-out or whatever. So since you have this knowledge now too, just switch it off dammit when not needed and stop whining. But if this information is missing in the manual it might be good to add it for the uninformed or add it to the README if possible.
  4. *g* Both cools videos! Thanks for sharing. The commentator is funny too haha
  5. Haha, cool smoke effects. Reminds me of that IMAX movie where the Hip moves through that clouds/fog in the mountains and you see the turbulence, awesome. Love the rocket-slowmo-window scene.
  6. I don't know what material they collected for their work, but I thought the Battlefield 2 Mod Project Reality had at least a decent A10 gun sound. You could contact them and ask what material they have collected and what they can share http://www.realitymod.com/ Now before someone starts laughing at a BF2 mod, this one might still be BF2 but they did a hellish good job on varying sounds between distance and nearby and so on, so their sound team sure did some research. Hope it helps. Although I'm more fascinated by choppers I am looking forward to your fixed wing vids.
  7. Yay, fun! Thanks for sharing, looks like HD works now too.
  8. I was also looking forward to the demo. But I can understand that probably more people are interested in fast movers, and if this helps this series to survive then so be it, bring them their toys as soon as possible.
  9. Also prefering helicopters.
  10. 159th_Viper, 64 bit operating systems usually can support more RAM (32bit ones are often limited below 4 GB).
  11. 'sounds' great, thanks for all the info! Sound is very important to me when it comes to immersion.
  12. I probably spotted a typo in the producers notes, you can see it in the attachment, please ignore when it is known, or I am wrong.
  13. ... think mobile FARP, hard to shell with artillery :-D also a great video btw.
  14. Seahawks, (JayHawks, go CoastGuard?), Hawkeyes (love the turboprops) Tarawa/Wasp, Frigates, anything you can land on with a helicopter. Harriers, Prowlers Supply ships, to do hoisting of stuff from ship to ship. SAR missions hoising pilots out of water, insertions, extractions, standby while fighters take off from carrier ... Since water is not modelled interestingly yet, to get a good feeling, simulation of carrier deck operations etc. with people on the deck and all those radio conversations would really help for immersion. EDIT: sorry if some of the mentioned vehicles would be considered Marines only
  15. This would be cool indeed. It was fun to fly Hercules or what it was transport missions from time to time with F4 + mods. If one considers how important logistics are in combat situations it makes even more sense. All kind of transport missions would be interesting, like SAR, evac, insertions, loads and slung loads of various material ...
  16. Great news! Keep up the good work. This is really an impressive insight into the dev work. Thanks for the news!
  17. Thanks to all envolved with making those videos and thanks to all that share their knowledge about all the stuff that comes up in these forums (be it game specific or technical in general). Always a pleasure reading/hearing/watching your reviews and explanations. And especially thanks to everyone for having a quite humorous and friendly community so far! Maybe fighter pilots are like singers and chopper drivers are like drummers... j/k ;)
  18. I second that. Please somebody prevent us from missions where if you don't kill all of those 10 marked vehicles you loose the mission. I don't want to fly missions over and over again, just because the designer left no choice for 'failure'. The IL2 series had that flaw and that really ruined solo campaigning for me. I know that a dynamic campaign will not be available on release, but I am really looking forward to it, to finally perfect this sim. Can the Vikhr be retargeted in flight?
  19. Thanks for bringing up the topic of mast bumping up. I didn't know what it was and also knew hardly anything about how rotors and rotor heads function. Looking on the web a bit had my knowledge fixed and also extended. There is also some cool videos to find (no mast bumpings): Rotor head mechanics test: Rotor blade design and slow motion of blade tip flapping movement http://youtube.com/watch?v=SjFSt4Msde0 Slow motion of blade tip flapping movement
  20. thanks for the link! keeping fingers crossed so that we see DCS:BS this year.
