  1. Some great information here, thanks all! I'm just starting to learn the SU-25T, and eagerly awaiting MAC. And then who knows what else :pilotfly:
  2. I wrote a little script in CH Control Manager to wait until the pedals are pressed more than x percent, then it activates the logical button that I set to "w". Then it waits for the pedals to be released, switches the logical button off, and then loops back to waiting for the pedals to be pressed again. OK fine... I may have reverse engineered someone else's script for something different and modded it to be what I need, but at any rate it works :lol: Of course there is no linear control, and I still have a button mapped to W which I still end up using most times anyway. It does make me wonder, though, how the braking system in the actual SU-25T works, since brakes are modeled with an axis in other modules. It could be that the brakes were simply an on or off control in the real thing, right? Russian WWII planes had a lever handle that activated the wheel brakes, and pressing a rudder pedal forward with the brakes activated would release the hydraulic pressure on the opposite wheel brake so the aircraft could turn in the direction of the pressed pedal. So, it's possible...
  3. Friction adjustment would be nice, but so would FFB... of course then my current mounting solution would be no good at all!:joystick:
  4. CH Control Manager now works properly in Windows 10 again for me. Microsoft fixed whatever USB issue they broke with a previous update. Maybe give it another try. I haven't had the program fail/gray out the mode buttons and stop responding for weeks now.
  5. I edited my default FOV to work with my 3 screen setup. There were 2 files that needed to be edited. One contained what I believe are global limits, and the other defined the views for each view in each plane separately. There may be more than one file that needs to be edited in order for the modification to work. Unfortunately I'm not at home, so I can't pull up the procedure I wrote for myself. I'll check when I can. ** check the server.lua file, in the config->view folder **
  6. I have similar experience. I wasn't happy that I had to open up the stick and throttle and crimp the connections tighter. Prior to doing that I had axis jumpiness and at times it would go haywire till I tapped it on the desk. But, after tightening the crimps, not a single issue. And the Control Manager software is pretty nice. Extremely flexible, and when you write a command file and can then assign and rearrange the button configs from outside the game all you want, it does make it easier than doing it all in game and trying to keep it all straight! For the money, I'm not sure what else really competes. Maybe something does. But all I've seen about Saitek products are that they last a couple rlyears and then something wears out. I would hope that would change, now that Logitech owns them!
  7. The same thing happened to me, I wanted to see what it would look like all maxed out, not that my PC would be able to play it that way! Here is how to fix it: Navigate to C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua Open the file with administrator privileges in the text editor of your choice (I use Notepad++) Find the line that contains SSAA (line 48 in my options.lua file) Change ["SSAA"] = 2, to ["SSAA"] = 0, Save the file Happy flying!
  8. I also only have the P-51D. I planned on starting to learn the SU-25T now and get into both single and multiplayer with that, and then pick up MAC when it releases. At some point, maps and a full fidelity module will follow, I'm sure!
  9. I only recently started into flight sims, so I can relate! I started with a brief stint in War Thunder, then immediately wanted the real deal so I moved to DCS and IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad. As others have said, take it one thing at a time. Do your homework - there are plenty of resources online that explain everything including instruments, takeoff and landing procedures, general flight principles, trimming, engine management, energy management and bfm, you name it. I would recommend practicing in this order: 1) Straight and level flight - learn to maintain a heading, maintaining your altitude +/- no more than 100m, trim. Climb or descend, learn how to trim to maintain while hands free, then level off at new altitude and retrim for straight and level flight. 2) Level turns - turn from your heading to a desired heading while keeping speed and altitude constant, and no slipping or skidding 3) Slow flight at low altitude - learn how the controls feel and how the plane handles at speeds just above stall speed, both in flight configuration and landing configuration 4) Takeoff and landing - self explanatory, try to keep everything in one piece :D 5) Acrobatic maneuvers - hammerhead turns, loops, aileron rolls (rotating around the fuselage axis and finishing at the same altitude you started out, maintaining that altitude throughout (it requires knowledge of how all 3 control surfaces affect the attitude of the plane and coordination of them), barrel rolls, etc 6) Energy management and bfm - lots to learn here! Weapons use Hope that helps someone. If any of the more seasoned pilots have any critique for what I wrote I would be interested to know! Learning all this has taken a lot of reading, research, and video viewing. It has been a rewarding minor (read: major) obsession for me.
  10. Hope it works for you! It turns out I still have some issues with it, but I at least seem to have a higher success rate now if I wait a minute or two after booting the pc to start Control Manager, and then another minute or two before switching to mapped mode or downloading a profile. But, even then, if I make some changes and then download to the controllers Control Manager will sometimes gray out and force me to restart, just like before. It's very hit or miss.

The workaround above does not work for many, including myself.  I have had intermittent success, sometimes restarting a few times to get it to work.  Tonight, after the 10th restart, I decided to look for an answer some more, or just start mapping my gear in the game and not using the Control Manager Software anymore. I THINK I FIXED IT!!!  Here is how: 1) Open Device Manager in Windows 2) Find the CH Products list and expand it 3) For every device listed: A) Right click, then click properties in the window for the device.  B) Click the Power Management tab, if there is one.  If not, just close the window and move to the next device C) UNCHECK the box that says “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” After I finished all the devices in the list, I restarted my PC After that… it worked flawlessly, like it always used to.  I can switch back and forth between direct and mapped modes over and over, load a new profile, switch between modes some more, load another profile, all is right with the world again.  I even restarted again to be sure. I didn't wait for anything. When the desktop came up, I opened Control Manager, and switched from direct to mapped mode, and it worked fine! Hope this helps someone (hopefully everyone with this problem!)!!
  12. Bumping this - any answer on whether DCS will support it? Having just upgraded to 3-monitors recently I would really love not having the image distortion on the outer monitors!

  14. Good thread. I am also wondering when the updated weapon damage model, MP, and any other P-51 updates might be coming. Anyone have any idea? I'm getting the non-compete flight and maneuvering down pretty well, and my maneuvering and gunnery against the AI is coming along some. I'm feeling ready to start learning in multi-player, now, so this is very relevant to me!
  15. Try uninstalling DCS and reinstalling it. It sounds to me like something is corrupted. And make sure you are using the latest graphics drivers, of course. Good luck!
  16. It would be less glaring of an oversight if there wasn't explicit support for different monitor configurations.
  17. Disagree completely. A field of view adjustment is a fundamental graphics option that many, many titles allow you to adjust from the graphics options menu. This isn't a nitpick request - it is fundamental for a game that offers triple monitor support. The triple screen resolution is unplayable at the default field of view. Giving the user the ability to adjust it to match the triple screen setup, or changing the default to a usable setting that can be further adjusted with zoom (like IL-2) is really just part of proper triple screen support.   18. For me, it is that I have less than 75 hours of flight sim time, and half of that was War Thunder, which got me interested in a proper sim. I'm just getting comfortable and able to handle the P-51 competently, have some maneuvers mostly down, am developing my proficiency in air combat maneuvering, so I will be starting to play online.   19. As a triple monitor user, I can attest to how needed this is. We should not have to manually edit several config files to get a usable field of view. Worth the three days of searching and trial and error? Yes. Extremely frustrating to the point I almost just gave up on it? Also yes.

  23. Lol, Thanks! I want an Obutto R3volution pretty bad... I just upgraded my 32" TV to three 27" 1080p monitors (Gtx 1070 coming next), and I did build a Power Grid for the left, right, and center control panels in the P-51, does that count? Now, if only Roccat had client software for a windows tablet...

  25. I can't wait to give you guys more of my money! TLDR - thanks for taking the time to undoubtedly make Normandy another incredible offering! But also hurry up, we want it! (just kidding) I'm pretty new to flight sims, having started in War Thunder then very quickly moving to IL-2 BOS and DCS P-51D. The incredible attention to detail in DCS and the effort put into familiarization and meaningful training in the P-51D is amazing, and very much appreciated. And the manual, for both DCS itself and the P-51... Top notch, way more than I would have expected. I have found that paying $xx for one plane at this level of detail with real training on it is so much better than paying the same price, or even less, for more planes but skimping on what DCS does so well.
