  1. So.... Why isn't the EAC on by default? Why would anyone want to turn it off?
  2. Gotta say I'm pretty disappointed by the F-5's limited loadout... but I have an idea for using it: 1. Fly Angels 40 over a target area with as many LGB's as you can carry. 2. Buddy lase with orbiting A-10's to take out long range SAM sites. 3. (a)Hang around and act as CAP 3. (b)Do gun runs on remaining AAA 5. ???? 6. Profit.
  3. Thanks! Another thing: I turned off the helmet-like sound in the options, I love how you can hear all of the switches and the whine of the engines... but there's this horrible screaming/whining coming from the panel as long as the electronics are turned on. Any way to get rid of it without going back to helmet sound?
  4. And does that allow fuel to transfer from the bag to the internal tanks? Or does it feed directly into the engines?
  5. I gave my Gazelle which I purchased in the Gazelle/Nevada bundle to somebody else. It is now bound to their account. I tried to log in and as expected, it wouldn't let me because the Gazelle was installed but no longer belonged to me. But here's the problem: Even after deleting the module (clicking trashcan) it still won't let me log in. From dcs.log: 00000.002 INFO DCS: DCS/1.5.3.52724 (x86_64; Windows/6.2.9200) 00000.002 INFO DCS: CPU cores: 4, System RAM: 8137 MB [. . .] 00076.494 ERROR NET: 1 keys were rejected: 00076.494 ERROR NET: 0: XXXXXXXXXX used for 'SA342 Gazelle by Polychop-Simulations' Even more strange, I can log in and play my 2.0 install just fine after clicking the checkmark as opposed to the trashcan on the gazelle. Did I brick my 1.5 install or something? I've tried repairing it and force updating it to no avail.
  6. I think the external tanks could be used to speed up turnaround... just xfer the fuel from the bag into the plane and drop it before reaching the AO.
  7. Thanks Hans! How exactly do you use the external tanks? I tried turning on the external boost pumps but my internal fuel continued to deplete.
  8. I see no reason to fly formation once you've arrived at the AO. I never do it. It's not like you're gonna lose each other, you have a TAD. Better question: Why on earth does anyone even consider doing it?
  9. How do they differ from the D?
  10. Cycle the CICU switch? (Furthest left of the 3 avionics power switches)
  11. The CDU is a blessing and a curse because of its complexity... Unrelated: I've heard quite a few people talk of a mod that makes the TGP display full color when the boat switch is centered, which is accurate for later models of the A-10C. I looked on Google and the forums but can't find anything.
  12. It will be clickable, the 18 is (will be) a full fidelity module.
  13. Oh. Probably shouldn't do that again  Two more: Occasionally my Mavs will display "align" for more than 3 minutes. Once I switched to them and found they had been aligning for 17 minutes. Any idea what causes that? Am I starting them too early? Sometimes when rolling in on a target, I'll mess up and pass the TGP through boresight and cause it to lose lock. Sometimes the TGP will go straight back to the target, sometimes not. Is there a way to make it slew back to the target every time?
  14. I've done some experimenting with the CDU alignment time. I've tried taking off when the TAD comes up, well before getting the flashing "NAV RDY". Didn't notice any problems, although my EAC switch wouldn't stay up for a few minutes IIRC.
  15. I've had the module for 3 days now, the CDU still baffles me most. So much functionality packed into such a tiny display.
  16. Ever heard people complaining that their stall warning is not working or won't shut up? It's because they're flying up high with their pitot heat off and their AOA sensor froze. I've had it happen to me a few times.
  17. GBU-38: A Mk-82 with GPS and canards slapped on the front. These little guys are my favorite armaments to use on the field. All you have to do is put your TGP on something, set it as SPI, and fly over it. No fiddling with lasers or profiles, it just works. It's really good for taking out IR SAMs if you're up high. Y'all know of any other weapons/tactics that aren't talked about enough?
  18. Couldn't you just put a runway leading up to the FARP that would allow planes to taxi onto it? Not sure how well it would work as you'd have to be very careful to avoid getting stuck...
  19. Oh, this would be awesome. Many servers have F2 view disabled and you could use this feature to inspect your craft for damage when you don't have a wingman.
  20. I don't quite understand how the HUD modes work. If I press 6 I can use my radar normally. But as soon as I switch to a missile I lose my radar screen (and any lock I managed to aquire!) Goes blank and my HUD shows the flood/IR sensor footprint. In other words, what's the usual flow you go though to fire an AMRAM, SARH, or IR missile? I get how each one works but don't know how to actually fire them effectively.
  21. Reverse thrust = carrier landings? :joystick: I'm sure somebody will manage it.
  22. Totally random question about the rules: Is there ever a situation in which its not acceptable to eject? I ask because last night I flew a particularly long flight to the TA only to get engaged by an enemy fighter whIle I was getting launched at by a Tor. I was frustrated and didn't have any AIM-9's so I ejected as soon as I saw his tracers flying past my canopy....
  23. Doing some reading I saw that the LGBs don't have proportional control, I imagine flapping the canards for the entire drop would bleed energy quickly. It seems every time anyone gets in an A-10C they have to mention the guidance alignment time, is it really that bad? When does it start? I heard it takes some 4 minutes, but that's nothing compared to the 10+ minute flight to the target area...
  24. Streamlining?
  25. I know very little about the F-5... (Didn't even know what it looked like until a few weeks ago) What is it going to bring to the table? Being limited to WVR makes me think it won't stand a chance against modern fighters. (Feel free to correct me) Somebody mentioned that this is a very maneuverable craft... how so? I don't see any special control geometry for low speed, and it's going to be limited by the pilot's G tolerance like every other fighter at high speed. Nobody? Okay, off to Wikipedia I go.
