Bug? UPK gundpods horribly inaccurate.
Pocket Sized replied to Pocket Sized's topic in Bugs and Problems
The load out I was using was 12x Guided rockets (still can't spell the damn name properly) on the outer pylons and gunpods on the inners. I tried flipping the knob to 5 and they worked perfectly. It's really surprising how accurate they are. -

Therein lies the "common mistake" line. I thought that only applied to rockets? Assuming we're talking about the same panel. -
Is the L39 really that noisy in real-life?
Pocket Sized replied to Spacehamster's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
According to a guy that test ran one a few months ago: Yes. He said he was very surprised how loud it was given its relatively small size -
DCS 1.5.4.56500 Update 5 I lock a target with the Schavcklvlaul (sorry I had to) with the laser enabled and switch to the inner pylons. The pipper for the gundpods shows up on the HUD and I get C (launch authorized). But the pipper is off by as much as 5 or 6 degrees. Just wondering if I'm making a common mistake or if I need to start making tracks/videos tonight.

Wow! 9+ G's on the flyup. Anyone know what "knock it off" means?

Tacview, the ACMI for DCS World – Official Thread
Pocket Sized replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in DCS Modding
Sorry if this has been asked before, but can tacview be used to give a live view of a mission and if so, how is it done? Edit: I read it's possible to get a "snapshot" of the battle. This is perfect for what I'm looking to do, but I have no idea how to do it. -
...Center. Krasnodar Pashkovsky is listed as red airfield with resources and is shown to be IN THE CONFLICT ZONE on the briefing map. If you try to land there in a red plane you'll start seeing flak over the northern coast of the lake less than a mile or so away from the runway.

Last night I saw Dustoff kill a Flanker with a GAR-8. (Yes, GAR, not GAU) GG.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that, in the sim, the current transsonic vibration is a bit violent. Even shortly after it starts it becomes very difficult to read instruments, and you can forget about aiming anything. (It reaches these levels as low as M0.65 with certain loadouts) For it to have the same effects in real life the shaking would have to be really bad. Saturn V levels of bad. I think it would make sense to put a cap on how bad they can get to make it more of a useful warning buffet before reaching Mach tuck, as opposed to a brutal punishment for going M0.2 too fast. At the very least, I'd make the animation a bit less sharp and nauseating to look at... If anyone knows why the shaking happens (and if it should be effected by stores as it currently is) on the real plane I'd be happy to listen. I'm aware this is one of many "I feel it should be different" posts (Sorry not sorry for spamming the Su-25 forum section, I'm starting to like it a lot)

Imperial airspeed indicator accuracy
Pocket Sized replied to Pocket Sized's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
Yep, it's fixed but I also noticed the Mach indicator appears to be totally stationary? Anyone know if this is correct? -
Sounds like you might be pulling too hard and stalling. Sadly they removed the warning buffet in 1.5.4 so it's kinda guesswork figuring out how hard you can pull before she starts rolling.

Is that the thrust reverse lever just under the airspeed/mach indicator?

The Kh-25ML is actually really good
Pocket Sized replied to Pocket Sized's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
Holy.... I managed a shot from 50km. (might still be processing) -

1.5.4.56500 Update 5 I will probably post a video later demonstrating a regular 10km shot vs a 25-30km shot. (I really hope I didn't unintentionally uncover a bug) -
Exactly! It would be quicker to develop, easier to operate, and most of all, wouldn't dominate the skies completely.

First off, the listed max range is total baloney. 10km? At 10km, the missile hits at nearly Mach 2. Using left Alt + W I found these little beasties will happily hit a target from 25km while still being supersonic in the terminal phase! No fancy lofting or anything. IIRC I managed a few from over 30km but the missile has a HUGE amount of subsonic drag. They can also be used for SEAD. If you lock the target with an ELINT pod and then turn on the TV the TV will automatically slave to the radar source. In other words, these can easily take out radar SAM's or regular targets because of the laser guidance. The only disadvantage it has on the Kh-25MPU is it isn't fire and forget. An MPU will miss if the target turns off its radar, an ML won't. Speaking of missing, when firing from these long ranges it's nearly impossible to actually lock a target. The good part is the absolutely MASSIVE warhead makes up for any inaccuracy. Not to mention the aim can be refined after firing.

Yes, I go there occasionally.

RIP Flanker drivers.
-
What exactly do you mean by "it loses its tracers"? Runs out of ammo? Bullets aren't visible anymore?
-
Forgive me if I'm missing something, but wouldn't it make sense to add the Korean War jets as recon/scout aircraft? They're both better suited for the task than the Hawk/L-39 I think.

Aww.

Thank you! I never noticed the Mach indicator on the gauge. But the HUD definitely indicates IAS, unless it's like the flanker where is switches to TAS in certain modes? Also the marks are useful at sea level, not so much when you're trying to drop a 500kr from 3500m (but that's where the Mach meter comes in)
-
Anyone know what they mean by "optimized LODs"? I feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up thinking they've changed lift over drag coefficients.

Random question: do the 109's have their flare pistols removed intentionally? I've had many cases where I'm ingressing into a furball or trying to find my wingman. It would be much easier if he could shoot a flare so I could ID him a few miles out.

Pls no. Tacview has helped me a lot. Once I was doing very well in the flanker (2 kills) and started to egress towards base. BANG! Missile out of nowhere... from a Tor? I checked the Tacview and it turns out I was climbing and put the bugger right in my visual and RWR blind spot. Now I know not to get too close to the coast! Frankly I couldn't care less if somebody is cheating. For all I know they saw me with datalink or radar, maybe a friend was doing GCI for them.
