  2. turn it off by fliping the lever on the left side of the hud
  3. THe AMd's X2 is a crapy CPU I know I had 3 of them. This 940 I have now is so much better even at stock speeds. ANd yes I am awair that Intel smokes the 940 but cost 3 times as much.
  4. The CPU is your weak point. You need a sound card to take the sound load off the CPU.
  5. I shuld be on this weakend. I am usaly on later in the day. I am PST -8 GMT
  6. what do you want in a cocpit? mine cost around 800 to build. I can do it for cheaper next time. so you need to give us an Idea for that part.
  7. not sure with Win 7. I have ben using my OEM XP on many PC that I have built. this is my 5th PC with the same Win XP
  8. go full screan with BSVP befor you start DCS it will stay put.
  9. Windowed mode is good if you have one screan you can alt tab out to desk top with out having issue going back into BS.
  10. Win 7 pro has support for XP programs.
  11. I would love to be able to make a ef111 for my dad to fly. He flew the FB-111 in the USAF. Any F-111 would be good.
  12. I realy don't like starforce. I ran out of actavations last year. I got the Down loaded rus version when 1st releast. Came with 3 actvations only. Haven been able to get the deactivation to work yeat. My opion is that it is $&@$;. There shuld not be a limit on installs.
  13. I forgot about that option. thanks for reminding me about that.
  14. also if you have a fully loded choper it will be harder to climb than a choper with no weapons and 25% fuel load. I have mad it to 6000m
  15. no it is not required. But 1.0.1 defaults to the 0 and 1 core for dule core users. and XP users still have no binifet from multy core use. So the 1.0.1 makes no difrince to XP users. DCSMax alowes you to select the cores you want to use insted of being forced to use the core the windowes is using (core 0). so select core 2,3 or 3,4 and you will have a slight gain for vista and 7 users. But XP users will see a big help by 7-10FPS in game by taking DCS off the 0 core.
  16. depinding of the weather set by the mission builder it might be. Have you tryed building a simple mission with no wind and one with wind?
  17. OK guys here is the problem with using the SST softwair. Lits say you program button C as your trimer. theproblem you will run into is that the DX button is still active and programed in game setting. so you get 2 actions for 1 button push. some times the combonation of the two make a diffrent switch flip in game. The only real way to program the X52 for DCS is to load a blank SST profile and go in the options of BS and set the DX butons to what you want. This is the only sure fire way to have zero problems with the X52. T1-T6 are the only buttons that I have found not to have a conflict in the game. The other option is to go thrue the BS controles and find all the actions assined to the DX buttons and clear them. But buy the time you do that you culd have created your own in game profile. But if you want to use the mode option of the X52 you will have to go thrue and clear all the DX acttions.
  18. Do a search for dcsmax works very well for setting your CPU cores. This way you don have to alt tab out of the game to set the cores and it launches Tir for you if you forget to start it.
  19. The x52 has holes in it to screw it Down to the table . Or somthing els.
  20. :surprise::censored: I don't like you right now.....:thumbup:
  21. +1 X52 you realy dont need the pro but if you have the money to spend get it. And I would recomend gitting a set of rudder pedals ASAP. It will make just as big a difrance as the HOTAS.
  22. sage0030 What would ou AVG FPS be. I have read thrue the whole thread and am wondering what you consider bad performance. With the PC you have you shuld be gitting well over 60FPS If that dosent make you happy this I don't think any thing will. I am ox XP 32bit home running at 3.7 right now and gitting 30-50 FPS and am happy with it. I know with Win7 64bit I get over 60 FPS with out a problem and I have a lesser system than you. As you have noted already DCS has more demanding requirments of the CPU and will never run like FC. It is the price we pay for a better SIM. If you keep in mind as the sim's advance the requirement of the hard wair will as well. look back at when F 4.0 came out. there was hardly a system that culd run it on full settings. but look at it now still alive and kicking with updated programing and we have PC's that can run it with no problem at full setings. In a year or two DCS will be very old school in its graphics as it is behind now. But it works for what they are going for. ED has created a SIM that will last for years. I will most likly always have DCS sim's on my PC for a long time comming. I for 1 do not like LO or FC but that is just me and show's the diffrence in how we all look at the sim's we play.
  23. http://www.overclockers.com/ My favort place to go for over clocking info. Has a thread for new overclockers. I will be doing my dads E4300. probly do a safe OC to 2.5 from 1.8
  24. I just added a second 8800gt in SLI. I moved my CPU back to stock settings for testing. I saw no improvment is FPS but as I moved my CPU OC up I did start to see a FPS increas over just having 1 8800gt. With the 2 8800gt's in SLI and clocked at 3.4Gh I am gitting 40+ FPS in XP Home 32bit I still use DCS max to select a core other than that of the 0 core. multy CPU is still not supported in XP. And I am running AA and AF at 16x forced. Looks great. But when I go to Win 7 I will go back to seprate my 8800gt's for multy moniter support. I get over 60FPS with just 1 8800gt on a 22" LCD at 1050. I hope this helps. If I am going to up grade it would be at least a GTX260 or better. The 8800gt's are going cheap on E-bay got my second one for $71.
