well while i don't have any answers or real knowledge of the av8 variants. i can tell you however that the harrier in the image you showed is not the same model version we have in the game. im pretty confident if the real one has that ability then we would also have it in the game. so my initial assumption is that the av8b n/a we have represented does not have the wing tpod ability.

In the screenshot that wags posted a week or so ago showcasing the jet carrying harms, jdams, and whatnot. he also had a screenshot showing the cockpit and mfds. in that picture, if you look at the fuel quantity it says over 11,000lbs. commonly I read 10,800 something at full internal.
-
Over the last couple weeks playing I've noticed something a little odd. when spawning into a hornet I've noticed the internal fuel level fluctuates. keeping in mind that the percentage bar is always at 100% and the engines are just coming to life so it hasn't been all been burnt. The number appears to fluctuate by about 250lbs. So is the hornet modeled to include everything from expansion at different temperatures and fuel densities? because you're blowing my mind if that's the case. And if so I'm curious to know if it is something modeled on other aircraft. What environmental conditions would allow for the highest fuel capacity and which would be the lowest? Thanks everyone!

While id of course push for more modern redfor aircraft like the mig 29 from everything I've read the Russian government won't do anything newer than the mig-23. Because razbam is already making the mla version my next push would be the su-17m4 purely because it would be one of the newest Russian aircraft that we could probably get in full fidelity. It also offers a fairly decent multirole capability. In my opinion it would be a great addition to dcs.
-
While I'm not generally one for the Eastern aircraft. I do honestly think that I'd get this. And either way I'd love to see it in game. Ideally we'd get the su-17m4 (Imo) which I believe was the largest manufactured variant. The biggest thing for the dcs player base is that this aircraft is of vintage similar to the mig 23 which the Russian government is allowing to be made by razbam. That should allow the now retired su-17m4 to be made for DCS. This would be a fast aircraft that is still plenty capable in the ground attack realm being a stand in replacement to the su-25 depending on the mission requirements.

could we limit possible assets by the mission date
dudeman17 replied to upyr1's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I like this, same would be interesting for aircraft in service or available (for ai mostly) or even a more simplified setting to just based off of a conflict. Ie: Gulf war, Vietnam war, Korean, or WWII -
DCS: F-16CM Block 50 by EDSA Discussion Thread

While I'm fully aware that is still very much in development. Can you say anything as to wether or not we'll be getting the gbu-39 with this jet? Or even if it's a hope-to or pending licences and such? I'd love the sdb with it giving me more pickles per flight -
[MOOSE] RAT - Random Air Traffic

Can someone tell me why this is ignoring the departure and destination areas? Also is there a way that i can get aircraft to ignonre coilations all together and just fly between the specified ariports? local b737=RAT:New("RAT_737") b737:SetFLmin(300) b737:SetDeparture({"RAT Zone A", "RAT Zone B", "RAT Zone C", "Kerman-Airport", "Shiraz-International-Airport", "Bandar-Abbas-Intl", "Sharjah-Intl", "Dubai-Intl", "Al-Maktoum-Intl", "Fujairah-Intl"}) b737:SetDestination({"Kerman-Airport", "Shiraz-International-Airport", "Bandar-Abbas-Intl", "Sharjah-Intl", "Dubai-Intl", "Al-Maktoum-Intl", "Fujairah-Intl"}) b737:Spawn(5) -
This isn't just a mi8 thing either. In multiplayer (which I play almost exclusively) anytime an aircraft is behind me I have their light on my dash. Doesn't matter what I'm flying. Not only that but in the eagle when the gear goes up the light doesn't turn off so if you fly under anytime the light shines up through the plane. It's super annoying and it's been around since the open alpha 2.0 I've been hoping and waiting for this to be fixed for ever. I hope that eventually we can get something towards acknowledgement of the issue.

So it appears you all are correct. I loaded up the mission and proceded to check three other modules. (AV-8B, F-5, A-10) I was able to observe this deviation on both the f-5 and the hog. however, the harrier does not have it. I can't believe after the thousands of hours it isn't something I've noticed before. So then I guess what I would hope for is that there is an effort to make sure this is consistent across all playable DCS aircraft fc3 included. and ideally, the tankers and everything could be included in that in order to add just that extra bit of realism. Thanks for the help and explaining that to me.
-
That's the thing though. Shouldn't the guy next to me also be reporting the same altitude when in say an f-15 or perhaps wouldn't the tanker also report an altitude for rejoin that isn't 2000 off of what I have indicated?

Hello all. When flying recently in a mission I created I frequently ran into an issue where I said to a friend to meet at 30,000 ft only to find that he (not in a hornet btw) would always be way above me. After a minute and a few sanity checks. I determined that there indeed was an issue. according to my hud, I was almost 2000 ft off of what the f10 map said I was at. for the sake of the mission included in this post here are facts regarding the mission. Caucasus OAT -12C Pressure setting 30.22 On Baro A/P with an altimeter setting of 29.92 leveled off at 25,660 according to hud on f10 shows 23,393. when I input the mission created altimeter setting. (i know, above fl180 it should be standard but I figured id try it.) so with the altimeter set to 30.22 at f10 23,393 Hud indicates 25,940. Persists in both mp and sp and other hornet pilots on the mission have reported the same issue. Let me know if any more information is requested. happy to help solve any issues I can. altitude bug.trk Supercoolrealthingbackup .miz dcs.txt

After making a long endurance mission in Caucasus for the A-10, those that I flew with were hoping to at some point get the chance to fly another mission in the future with the hornet that takes place on the PG map. this is all fine and dandy however after no more than a few minutes I've found myself at a standstill. you can hardly make missions in the PG map that are anything more than a convoy. We have no region oriented buildings or even textures. Grass textures around bunkers stand out like a sore thumb when contrasted against the desert terrain. there are no region appropriate houses that can be placed and most all vehicles have only woodland camo with winter, fall, spring, and summer options. We really need to get something to work with here. and it can't be another asset pack. if we're going to get a new combat environment we at least need to be able to make a somewhat playable mission within them. Beyond this, some assets need to be updated/ fixed and possibly added in. I've seen many threads suggesting new tankers but nothing on getting this to happen. to mid-air refuel the hornet you need to use the kc-130 which is a perfectly good option however when doing a five-hour flight with four hornet's you can only get fuel once maybe twice at the moment. the tanker just doesn't have enough gas. our only option is to use an Il-78 which looks and feels out of place to say the least. For months now we've had a Kc-135 BDA in-game but it has been completely unusable. Just fixing this would solve a lot of problems. Personally, I'd love to see a KC-10 added to the game. With the extra 150,000 lbs of fuel, it would allow us a lot more flexibility for missions. With that added capacity there would no longer be a need to send a constant (or at least less steady) stream of replacement tankers into the mission.

This is an issue that has been prevalent for a seriously long time and I've been hoping that it'll just go away, However, it hasn't, every time I'm flying in the f-15 or the hornet (and probably more aircraft) The landing and taxi lights of the aircraft behind me shine right through onto the front dash of my cockpit. its awful. When flying the eagle upon takeoff the light is clearly visible passing up trough your dash as the gear retract and if you fly inverted or underneath anything at any point in your flight the light will be shining through the plane onto whatever is above you. Please fix this issue so that we can use the lights without blinding our wing-man or sending bat signals into the clouds. (I'm at work however if requested I can upload screenshots at a later time)

"Added support for F-14 - thanks to gyrovague " What do you mean it now supports the F-14? What do you know that I do not?

While I'm not entirely sure what exactly you're referring too however my assumption is that you're talking about adding the regions of turkey and further north into Russia. of course, there's always Crimea which has been requested for a very long time by many people. while adding the airfields themselves to this region wouldn't be terribly difficult I fear that in total the change you're asking for would be a great undertaking similar to making a new map. they would need to revisit the topography of this area and add in cities, trees, streams. rivers, the list goes on. Great thought though and id always be interested in expanded quality for our simulation.

Well, I'm certainly not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to the procedures of a real-life combat mission. One thing I've always found that I didn't enjoy about DCS was that missions were one and done. I've always wanted to take my hog up on a mission with no real goal. Just that there's a war going on and you're available for tasking. I want to be there for a while. get called in for support of a convoy or something and then return to my loiter. I want to have to hit the tanker a time or two before I'm done with my sortie and return to the airbase.

This sounds like a really cool idea. I'd love to see it in game. The only thing I question is where to put it. Of course you coud put him up on the top of Mt Elbrus watching over us all, however, you dont want his stature to become an objet of annoyance to mission designers or players. Thats the tricky part. If he had a favorite airfield it could be put there on as just a monument in a city that he loved. It would just be subtle if that were the case. I'd love to know where you guys think it should be.

So the issue I've been having lately with this is that although we're connected to a server and we have everything configured correctly such as the 3ptt buttons and they're set as ptt toggle. when the buttons are pressed they will switch the radio to that one, however, the green dot doesn't go bright to indicate transmission. we've tried setting a common ptt as well however neither option is working. should I do a clean install of srs or is this a bug? I'm not the only one experiencing this it's at least three people I fly with as well.

Does anyone have an estimate as to how long after release an updated template will be available?
-
I suppose there's always the possibility of the Superfortress. Ai or maybe as a module. Just bored and trying to find non guessed aircraft with super in their name.
-
Is it a Tomcat? A Super Tomcat?

That is a fantastic idea. provided we had the amount of space available. Sure it would not be the perfect solution because of obvious limitations to time and resources of both the developers and those playing. Having some abilities to select an area within a large modeled area. modeling that area would be very difficult.
