After reading the last few pages regarding the size and mission development imagination requirements I felt I should voice my opinion. I'm not very concerned about the size, I'm sure ED will do a fantastic job. I've always wished for the entire planet to be modeled to the level of detail of Nevada however, not only is that a tremendous undertaking but it also just isn't feasible with today's technology. It would require several terabytes of storage to hold a map of the planet. As for the length of a flight in the SOH, I would like to be able to have more options regarding airfields and even more ocean space to place battle groups and carriers. People talk about mission times, and while I agree that the average player won't want to spend all day flying to the coast so they can toss a single JDAM and RTB. But there are those of us out there who would enjoy that. Over the last week, I've been working on a mission for the Caucasus map for a few friends that going to last around five hours. That way we get to stop by a tanker for fuel and get a better taste of real missions. I personally I am the type of person who if I had the option would get into the A-10 and fly across the ocean. Why? Because I can. I would sit there all day pressing buttons maybe I'll get a bit bored. So I'll do a roll or a few sweeping turns just to amuse me. Now before anyone says I should go pick up FSX or X-plane I'll tell you that I'm not interested. I'd rather be dragged across the Atlantic attached to the pylon of an F/A-18 than fly in a civilian simulator. My dream would be to one day have the Caucasus map and the SOH map be connected and modeled to the same level of detail. It would be a huge map and would expand the horizon of what is capable in the game right now. Not only would we have hundreds of airfields to pick and choose from but we would also get access to the regions of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and even a touch of Syria. Having all of this space and different locations would allow for very realistic scenarios revolving around the gulf war. Much of the current and future modules would be very at home in this region. Honestly, it seems to me that unless there is some unknown political reason for not including Iraq then we should absolutely get that. Just maybe not yet. I'm happy to discuss this some. However I wont argue. Thanks in advance.

After a stop at the tanker with a wingman, my su33 will continue to be refueled indefinitely. Upon the release of the SU-33 into the stable release of DCS, I tried it out. I made a mission for me and a friend to take off from a carrier then hit the tanker then RTB. All is good however when we got to the tanker I begin transfer first. Then my wingman hooks up on the other wing. After my transfer is completed despite the disconnect my plane continues to be fueled. This has happened every time I go to the tanker, so it is repeatable. Steps to reproduce. 1: Get a wingman, 2: Go to the tanker, 3: Get fuel simultaneously, 4: The first plane finished will continue to be fueled even after shutdown of aircraft or hours of flight.

I would love if DCS had better and more diverse modeling of weapon systems. And while I don't doubt the implications on the game engine and our PC's when we set off an atomic bomb, I do think there should be the option. Perhaps we limit the devastation by forcing the blast yield on the B-61 to a reasonably destructive amount for a nuke. The B-61 has a variable blast yield of .3-340 kilotons of tnt. Even if the bomb was stuck at a measly 5 kilotons (less than fat man and little boy) it could still utterly destroy most towns and cities in DCS.

Unfortunately from what I have read what you're looking for is almost nonexistent. The whole point of most of our modern fleet is to maintain cost effectiveness and ease. Why have a carrier deck covered with 20 different aircraft for different roles when you will undoubtedly have to bring along parts and trained crew to work on those aircraft. Even some of the earliest models of the f-14 could carry air to ground ordnance just not good stuff. I think as far as this is concerned you have the only ones. there are plenty of air to air capable aircraft we have used but we have developed the hornet as a multi role jet because we only need one type jet to cover CAP, CAS, SEAD, EW, and Interceptor, and just about any other role we need. if you could expand into the air force that would grow the list a little, but even our dogfighter (F-16) is multi-role.

What is your timezone and availability? Also, your post has me a touch confused. You say you want to join but then at the end, you say it's not to join as your already with another group.

I like this idea. perhaps it is a choice of the mission creator/editor. have a special tab where you can check, or uncheck boxes for both pylons and smoke. The other alternative would be something like the f5 where the pylons are added or removed based on whether or not something is being placed on those pylons.

That's disappointing. It would be nice to have at least all military airfields within the area. I understand not doing all of them as there are hundreds of little patches of sand referred to as runways on a sectional. But I would expect at least Edwards and China lake. But I'll take what I can get.

Controllers (went way off topic and moved)
dudeman17 replied to GazAce's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, it will. From this point on, any official module will be clickable. -
If this thread is in the wrong spot, please move it. This thread is for the community to see some of the things that DCS Nevada has and some of the things that are missing. Please don't take this as a complaint to the developers, I respect their hard work and understand the task that is replicating something especially to this detail. Additionally, I recognize the fact that the map was specifically designed around the test and training range (hence the name NTTR) but these would still be nice additions. First thing is, given the area that is mapped out in Nevada using MGRS, some big airfields that I have found and would like to see in the game at some point are Edwards AFB, China Lake NAWS, Kingman Airport, Barstow-Daggett Airport, and the grand canyon airfield. (see attachments) Other issues that I have discovered are the QFE adjustments given out by the ATC are incorrect. At Tonopah recently I was given a QFE of 24.51, which is not even possible. the ATC will give a QFE to set the airfield elevation to zero on your altimeter however it should be correcting for the density altitude so that your altimeter will read your altitude above sea level. The next is the blacked out cockpit in the A-10 (see attachments) I suspect that most of these changes are already planned and I know that a re-worked ATC is in the goals for 2.5. but I'm excited and want to share my enthusiasm with others. Now Please Make Me An F-16C!

I'm trying to set up a mission and the thing I am struggling with is when the tanker is low on gas I would like him to fly to an airport, refuel then take off and resume the orbit as before. I have tried to have the option at waypoint two were the tanker will RTB on bingo. That part works fine, he flies to waypoint three (which is the landing waypoint) at waypoint three he has the command "refueling" then waypoint 4 is in the air just off the runway. At that Waypoint, I used the command switch to waypoint 1. All I've gotten is RTB then he goes and parks, at which point he shuts down and the crew jumps out. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I've noticed recently while nearing supersonic in the saber that the right wing will develop a transparency. For some reason, it only happens on the right. I've have thought that it may have something to do with wing flex and compressibility. Either way, it's something to look into.

For me I have all the US aircraft and I don't mind flying any of them. Personally the a-10 is the god of DCS. I love the bird and working with all of its intricacies. I can take a nice load out fly for hours top off on the tanker and keep going. If I want to get up for a bathroom break than I whack on the autopilot and do my thing. When I come back sit down get comfortable, I'm ready to go. Learning a module is half of the fun. I love dreaming of the next time I get on learning how I can broadcast my spi so my fellow pilots can see the massive threat that is the Sam sight just over the hill. Sead in the a-10 is so exciting and the feeling of satisfaction when you pop up from the valley a few minutes later and see the smoke in the distance. And the last thing is when your doing you mission on a server and someone comes over in a fighter you dodge the Missile and hit them with an aim 9 to the back. So I guess all in all the modern aircraft keep me busy and entertained were as the older aircraft are easy to use but annoying to fly for me. Plus I suck at air to air guns. And spotting aircraft.

Additionally to open the rearming menu while in game press backslash, F8, F1. Or press "alt + ' ".

As of right now DCS 1.5 is the stable release of DCS world. 2.0 is an open alpha version of the game that has many improvements over 1.5 which I will not get into now. Once the new technology used in 2.0 is completed, both DCS 1.5 and 2.0 will merge into a 2.5 release. At that point the current Caucasus map will also be given a complete overhaul to the new tech used in DCS 2.0. Also both maps will be playable from the one instance (providing you have purchased the NTTR map or any of the upcoming ones.)

F-15 Personal Record for Speed and Altitude
dudeman17 replied to Mars Exulte's topic in Screenshots and Videos
As you suspected I have also tried a similar thing only in DCS 1.5 as you can see from the screenshot i made it to 91750 ish however ill include a second screenshot with a better view of the world. It is very difficult to do considering you have to pull from level at 45-50 thousand feet up to around 70-80 degrees nose up while trying to maintain as much of your energy as possible. you'll want to be cruising at the fastest you can get then on the lowest possible fuel climb so you just able to maintain max throttle all the way. 1500-2000 lbs should be about right. Good luck to whoever tries it. -
While I'll compleatly agree the sales are nice however. As an American we pay the equivalent of 3822 руб to buy the same thing you can get for 1199 руб essentially there is a 60% sale all the time. If only the prices were the equivalent globally.

Is this Upgrade worth it?
dudeman17 replied to TaktLwG 73 Steinhoff's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thats sounds like a pretty good upgrade to me. The 16 gb of ram will certainly help you out. Also the graphics card is very respectable. After a short read I would personally recommend the 8gb version as that will boost it up to be on par with the gtx 970. Now I don't know your financial position nor do I really care however I would look into the possibility of an nvidia Gpu as they are often better supported. But they do cost more so you should find a balance. Best of luck and enjoy the grassy fields ahead. -
I'm am not at my PC right now however after some quick math and me thinking that the nttr map is approximately 30gb. then a 2.0 detailed version of the entire planet assuming they repeated a block for all oceans would be 118 terabytes. So while I like many others would love to have the ability to fly around anywhere on the planet, it is not quite reasonable. But who knows with the way technology is advancing and as long as ED continues to develop DCS then it may be possible to do in not to long. Maybe in even less time we could get the earth in chunks like Romania to Pakistan. That would be approximately 3 terabytes.

The year is coming to an end and things are looking good in the sky's of DCS. But I have got to thinking. off the top of my head we are expecting 5 major releases before the end of the year. 1: Spitfire. 2: P-40. 3: Viggen. 4: FA-18c. 5: DCS 2.5 release. (List subject to change.) That said I may have missed something and I am also aware "everything is subject to change." And "two weeks," however there are 11 Friday's left and a large quantity of potential Christmas mornings. Now I'm no expert but if I were ED I wouldn't release them all at the same time so what's going to happen? Are we going to get something every other week or will we get a flood near the last minute? Or maybe a case of two more weeks will kick in and releases will be punched back into 2017. So I guess for now I'll board the hype train and hope for the next news letter to be the big release.

I'm beginning to think that I'm actually more productive first thing Monday morning.
-
OK well if that is truly the case then belsimtek really should fix it because although its not game breaking. it is still very annoying and i love the sound of the starter. I guess ill have to start with the doors open

I have just gone into the mission editor and placed a single huey and it makes no engine startup noises on the Interior however low rpm and external sounds works perfectly.
-
I'm a little late to the party however I just got this mod and there is a lot of good to say however when I'm starting up with the doors closed I hear nothing at all. Not until I start to get outside rotor noise. I have gone into the files a bit and the best thing I have found so far is the startup sound is a 7 second file of silence. Is it supposed to be? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I personally feel like there is almost no excuse for not being able to mid air refuel (unless your on a mouse and keyboard) but if your flying most DCS modules you probably can afford a joystick. I personally recommend the Logitech extreme 3D pro it is the joystick I used once for FSX and it got me into DCS. It is an amazing and inexpensive piece of hardware. I used this joystick to learn AAR and I have even used it for some formation flying in aerobatics. Air to air refueling is not magic it is a skill that is learned just like driving a standard transmission. You get in and blow up tanker after tanker until you start to understand what it is you have to do then you get a few seconds of fuel until you learn reference points. Then you find yourself using every muscle in your body trying to get comfortable. You can mid air refuel and is it easy, no. But with practice you can do it. DCS was not designed to be easy.

I just came back from a short practice mission in the f-5e were I dropped some mk-82se a little too close to the ground and lets say they were more effective against me than the trucks but that's not the point. any way the damage sustained was my left elevator was gone and i had a hole in my aft fuel cell so I lost the fuel in my right tank. I flew home and did the usual floating landing then taxied to a parking spot experimented with doing a crossbleed start of my right engine which is pretty easy. then I shut down and repaired. so far no issue. once I was done repairing the ground crew would do nothing for me, I would ask for power then they would say copy. All was good but then they never completed their task just copy and done so i could not move I had chocks and no way of starting my a/c. was I doing something wrong or is this a DCS problem or a bug?
