  1. I'm glad that the A-10C came before the Harrier because I dunno if I'd have stuck with the A10 after having flown the Harrier. It is definitely going to be my go to ground pounder, just tons of fun to fly. Can't wait for the future updates!
  2. I haven't done much dogfighting in the Harrier yet but found slight VIFFing is helpful when almost in firing position but needing a bit more angle and in scissors maneuvers. The amount of required VIFF is very low though, I'd say 10-20 degrees. I have managed to shoot down AI Su27 and Mig 21 set to excellent difficulty, AI only armed with IR missiles and/or guns though. Haven't tried PvP yet but with the insane AI flight models, I was happy. Definitely don't underestimate the Harrier.
  3. Yup higher top speed and probably much better fuel economy, which is pretty important in the Harrier. Good tip, thanks!
  4. I think I found a nice video that does show air target spotting is definitely feasible. At 36:00 minutes into this video you can see an aircraft on the left side of the HUD being tracked by the IR hotspot tracker. Can't really tell what the effective range is for the air contact though. The furthest ground target, (buildings?), appeared to be picked up about 2 miles out.
  5. I found the key binding for this in the Harrier pocket guide: Hide/Show Pilot Body "RCtrl ‐ RWin ‐ P" So I would say that it does have or at some point will have a pilot body.
  6. Wow, I figured the Harrier must have a crazy thrust/weight ratio but never realized it held the record for climb to 15000 ft! Sounds like it has amazing acceleration. Great video, lots of cool info.
  7. Does anyone know what the sidearm's max range is? Edit- found it in this link: https://www.onwar.com/weapons/rocket/missiles/USA_AGM122.html Looks like max range is 17 Km about 10.5 miles.
  8. It's just the way that the Viggen was designed.
  9. Wow, this has happened to me a few times and I've never been able to figure out what the problem was. Next time I will check my radar settings, thanks!
  10. Thanks for this, made a thread like this on the Hoggit reddit but haven't had any responses yet.
  11. My guess is that the carrier will have a certain number parking spots to spawn into on the deck, just like an airfield. If the mission designer requires more parking for more players, another carrier will probably have to be added to the mission.
  12. I'm using 1.4 in VR (rift). Normandy looks great in the Spitfire! Still am having a bit of trouble seeing the HUD against the sky in A10c and F15 in Nevada though.
  13. 2.1 is great! Thanks for fixing the A10C targeting pod ED, the infrared modes work GREAT now! Can't wait for the Gamma slider option. :joystick:
  14. Interesting, I'm not sure what the actual cause is for the radar to pick up towns in 2.0 but the radar definitely has dark radar returns where towns are located. You definitely can not distinguish individual buildings but I was assuming that this was due to the close proximity of the buildings to each other and the radar's resolution. I'll have to do some testing to see if individual buildings can be spotted with the radar. If your primary concern is locating towns/cities though, the radar does achieve this in 2.0 whatever the reason may be.
  15. The Viggen radar in the Nevada map works great for spotting towns/buildings. Not sure what the difference is between 1.5 and 2.0 when it comes to the radar functionality but 2.0 allows for towns and smaller areas with a few buildings to be spotted on radar.
  16. Yup, binding the HOTAS yourself through the DCS controls menu is the way to go because often times you can use the same binding for certain controls in multiple aircraft. This prevents you from having to learn someone else's profiles when flying multiple planes.
  17. For the BK 90, make sure that your target waypoint is an attack (M) waypoint, you are not playing in multiplayer unless you are the host and your master mode is set to ANF. Also verify you are within launch parameters, if you are too far away the BK90 will overfly the target and not deploy munitions.
  18. It's a fun weapon for sure. I actually did use it over hills recently, attacking a SAM site at groom lake using the hill to the west as cover! About smashed into the hill trying to pull off target after the drop though, I coulda used a couple more km of drop distance! Just seems odd that the weapon can travel the longer distance but won't deploy the ordinance. My source from the manual was on page 225. You are correct though as the chart does seem to indicate a shorter max range. Anyone know what the max delivery distance is in the real BK90?
  19. No, the BK90 doesn't work in multiplayer. Well actually it does if I host the server/mission but even then the range is still 6km max.
  20. The manual states that the maximum range of the BK90 is near 10km. Has anyone been able to achieve a range close to this? My maximum BK90 range is always 6km, independent of release speed or altitude. The odd thing is that if I do release at high speed(.9+mach) I can release outside of the maximum launch envelope range of the HUD and the weapon will make it to the target around 10km out but it will do no damage. It will overfly the target from 10km if launched properly but the weapon won't activate over the target.
  21. I tested this on stable Caucasus.
  22. I can confirm this as well. After waypoint 8 is reached, the nav computer skips 9 and goes to Ls1. 9 is not selectable manually either. I also noticed while testing this that waypoints 8 and 9 are not listed on waypoint list page of the kneeboard. I'm referring to the list that is shown after the flight plan which includes waypoint name, altimeter setting info, speed, altitude etc.
  23. I think most of the multiplayer fracturing concerns will be alleviated if players are warned of the incompatibility issues while purchasing the modules. There needs to be warnings in big BOLD print that tell players that they won't be able to play on servers running the WWII assets if they don't have them as well. In fact, I'd recommend a separate pop up window during the check out process with this warning. The window should advise that the bundle is the recommended purchase if online play is intended.
  24. I just bought the Mig 21 not long ago and I agree with Art-J. I had this same situation when I forgot to turn the inverter switches on.
  25. The first mission in the new mini-campaign beta is a recon mission. The briefing gives instructions for using the RUTA recon boundary lines. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=183852
