  1. Be advised: This works ONLY for 32-bit versions of Vista/Win7! If you do this on 64bit versions, you will be unable to start windows! I know about a dozen people who tried this on 64bit and despite the article claiming that it might cause trouble, it locked all those people I know out of their OS who tried Godmode with 64bit. Besides that's it's no real advantage. It's just collecting all shortcuts from different menus into a single collection. There is no hidden feature you can access this way.
  2. New add up at http://www.thrustmaster.com Hopefully we'll see some more shots from the CES soon.
  3. I doubt it has anything to do with the stick or weardown of buttons or parts. The buttons are only active when pushed and there is not much that could cause this and the sticks sensors are hall-sensors - they do not suffer from the mechanical wear-out from older sticks. After all, you can reaffirm this, by opening the gamecontroller-panel and check the inputs of axis and buttons. But IMHO it's something different for three reasons: 1. A lot of players use the X52 and X52pro, nobody reported these reproducable crashes. 2. If it was your stick, you'd have the problem not only when running a game, but even in windows. Remember, your stick will input data, no matter what game you run or if you run a game at all. 3. If IL2 and BS are the games you play, BS is the more likely candidate to crash if there is a problem with your PC, as it is WAY more demanding than IL2, especially for the central components like CPU, RAM and your mainboard. Use a monitoring tool and check your CPU temperature while playing DCS. This should always be one of the first things to check when having a problem with DCS.
  4. There is already an ATC-Mod (at least for LockOn) - maybe it is what you are looking for?
  5. Views doesn't say "first views". ;)
  6. 4 in combination with 5, because if you really mean 4 like it's supposed to be, you should have 5 included.
  7. If RedFlag will really make it into A-10, you won't have to worry about oceans and seas being rendered with minimum details :D
  8. As I posted before, there are some freeware-tools to extract the pictures, jocko417, instead of making "screenshots" of the running animation. ;) Just remember copyrights. On the other hand, we'll probably have a lot more information soon
  9. No worries - as I posted above (several times in the meanwhile) I think that WoP is a good game. It just doesn't make much sense to claim that WoP will replace IL2 or threaten SoW. Comparing apples and oranges, as both games differ in many core elements. Nobody will be hurt by WoP and if it does have any effect on the simulation market, it's most likely a positive one, as it fills the gap between Battlefield 1942 or 1943 and IL2, just like LockOn fills the gap between BF2 or ArmA2 and the DCS-series. If you play IL2 just for fun and like to play on dogfight-servers, WoP maybe right for you, if you prefer full realism, wait for SoW. I made my decision, but it's not a general judgment. Btw: I didn't choose the Falcon4 vs LockOn thing for a reason, but indeed, LockOn and DCS is probably a much better example than mine. :)
  10. It's definitely a nice game - just tried it for a while. Nice missions, sounds and graphics, but it's a game, not a simulation like IL2. The damage-model, for example, is mostly visually. The only thing that happens is, that the more damage you take, the slower you go until you eventually are too slow. Maneuverability is not or only minimal influenced. Even if you have a big whole in the wing, it won't lose lift. At the same time ballistics and most other effects are limited to visual effects as well, bullets behave like on "easy gunnery"-setting on IL2. I shot down 22 He-111 in the first campaign-mission, until I got bored and quit the mission. And the Spit Mk2 - LOL - I'll never ever complain about the '44s Spits in IL2 any more... :music_whistling: Again, a nice and fun game, with a lot of nice graphics effects, but it rather relates to IL2 like HAWX does to Falcon4.
  11. Really? On what planet?
  12. Yes, they are. But DCS:BS can already make use of more than 2GB. You just have to increase preloading-ranges manually. My DCS:BS usually runs with 3.6GB of RAM usage. Doesn't kill loading-stutters, though, as the soundengine and how sounds are loaded is still the problem.
  13. It seems as if a release in December is still the goal. That is digital download-version. I only read that a DVD-release is planned for countries with slow or insufficient internet connections.
  14. Disregard example - PM with explanation sent ;)
  15. I support the market-place idea. Especially since there are a lot of new guys seeking some more advanced hardware from second hand. I'd also like to see an option for the search-function to e.g. only search in English or Russian forums, maybe even for the other languages forums and also in specific areas, like DCS:GD or LockOn:GD. Same function should be available for viewing new posts - this has been repeatedly wished for. I also think that the general tree could be tweaked: At least there could be some links, like a link from the DCS-Forum to Multiplayer. I'd also personally prefer those links to be staggered horizontally, not vertically. IMHO such a link-bar could also replace some stickies.
  16. Performance for PC is probably very good, considering it's been made for consoles, which normally lag behind high-end-PCs. At least there's plenty of options it seems: Guess this also answers the Vignette-Question. ;) Also note that beta-testers are only allowed to post positive comments. :music_whistling: IMHO a lot of things are graphically overdone, though. Just look at the depth and spacing of the plating on this picture: Or how the white cliffs of dover on a sunny day turn into gray. Still nice, but IMHO there is a difference between realism (even in graphics) and eyecandy. To much hollywood for me, but that is just my personal opinion - hopefully there will be a demo.
  17. I think you don't have to wait much longer. January 7th - 10th is the "CES2010", a (gaming) consumer oriented exhibition in California. I bet that's when we are going to see at least some news about the TM HOTAS and hopefully also about the CH alternative and maybe even DCS: Warthog? :)
  18. Depends on a lot of factors, e.g. airflow inside the case. When the CPU takes damage, it may also effect other vital parts, like voltage-related parts and north/south-bridge, depending on how long or how hot the CPU was and what kind of damage it took. But that's rather a worst-case scenario as most of the time the system will crash and deny restart due to computing errors a long time before further damage is done.
  19. The Vignette-Effect as well?
  20. Indeed - beautiful plane.
  21. Don't like the bloom and the vignette-border IMHO is misplaced in a flightsimulation. It simulates the focus on the middle of the screen, but you don't fixate on the middle of the screen in a flight-simulation like you do e.g. when looking over the sights of a gun. Another interesting detail is the Ka-20 gunsight in a D5  - and then the gyroscopic gunsight is fixed - Ground detail is nice, but difficult to make out, considering all the blur, the fading and bloom. IMHO to much like modern movies and too little realism.
  22. As it was posted before, the SHKVAL's capacity to lock a target in darkness is limited. The camera-system is not as flexible as the human eye and it was not designed for night-time operation. If you want a positive lock at night, you have to get closer so the sensor-resolution can make out the target clearly. Long story short: That's not a bug, that's a feature.
  23. Maybe it's time to check out Storm of War:
  24. Imagine him doing that right now. :P
