  1. I like the UZI because of it's ROF. Especially on hardcore-servers a very deadly weapon, when aiming for the head. You just have to remember to fire in short bursts.
  2. I don't feel a difference with the Magnum ammo. At least not with my prefered Engineers MPs. I prefer the specialized silencer and go for the headshot, though it's a bit odd to run around with a UZI and a x4 scope attached.
  3. You mean release this month? It's 9 months from June 2009 until now. Doesn't say it's 9 month to the release :D But we can still hope, of course ;)
  4. Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
  5. Right on the mark. ...and a bit funny to ask for a pre-release manual and in the same thread ED is flamed for not sticking 100% to the information released earlier. :music_whistling:
  6. Very true. It's not like we simulation-freaks have much to chose from :(
  7. I don't have the money to throw it out of the window either, but IMHO it's not simply paying for an addon, but for a more than 10 year lasting support for a great simulation and my part of giving them the motivation to continue that and to do my part to support them to stay in the business. Well, that's what I think about it.
  8. Hey, come on, it's not like they just raise the price randomly and not from 15 to "60 bucks". 30 USD is still way below most other retailers, who sell minor changes as brandnew full-prized games for 60USD. Even with LockOn you still are below 40 USD. And it's not twice the price of the original game for an addon. That's a bit to trivialized to compare a 10 year old game and demand a full rework for the same price. I don't think this is a fair calculation. Last but not least, nobody forces you to buy FC2 and accumulate debts for something you don't need. It's still your choice.
  9. If I may point out 2 things: 1. In the first part you comment on the change itself, first announcing this, then that. To be honest, that's a double-edged sword. Yes, changes were made, but if you don't want changes to me made to announcements, it will not mean that news will stay as they were announced, but that announcements and informations will ONLY be released, once they are set in stone - for the future, that would mean no screenshots or information until the game has gone gold. I prefer the changes, especially since it's not only the price that changed, but also the quality and content. Quite fair, IMHO. 2. To be honest, I don't understand your second point. You noted you bought the game for 5-7 USD and FC for 15. Now, after the change in price you are upset and consider to not buy the game right away. Heh, sorry to put my finger on it, but hey, you picked any previous release from the budget-table - what exactly is your change in strategy? :)
  10. The medals give a lot of points. And of course Medic is still one of the most rewarding classes. Playing mostly as Engineer, though. Love the tanks and how they fall apart when taking hits. I also love the silenced guns. Great game. ATM servers are down - they are upgrading the stats-servers. Finally....
  11. Sounds reasonable. Do you know if you have to pay tax for importing hardware? Not that you run into some unpleasant surprises.
  12. Most of it should be available in English. I only superficially checked some descriptions. But I'd check a European reseller to reduce shipping prices, delivery times and risks of loosing packages ;)
  13. newegg.com from the U.S.? It would be cheaper to order them from Taiwan ;) This is one of my favorite reseller. Their prices are pretty good, but they don't have much of a variety. http://www4.hardwareversand.de/home.jsp
  14. Here for example: http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php Don't get to close above the limitations. Especially on PCs with HDDs and several passive USB-Devices, you need to add some extra watt during startups from cold (unplugged). When overclocking you'd have a PSU 25%-33% stronger than recommended, as you need more stable power-values and the power needed at start is even higher. You should also keep in mind that PSUs usually loose a certain percentage in power, if they are working for a few months. All PSUs are subject to that, though high-quality PSUs suffer less from that problem.
  15. As I posted before, if you go for a modern mainboard for the same price as the one with the limited lifecycle left you named, you should go for DDR3 memory: Kingston Value RAM DDR3 DIMM Kit 4GB PC3-10667U CL9 If you will go for a DDR2-board, your RAM will be much cheaper, of course. I'll try to find some cheaper modules. Do you have a shop where you intend to order your hardware? Or are you intending to buy them in a shop?
  16. Apparently so, Boberro. Afterburner! - now that was a cool arcade game + motion seat! Loved that thing
  17. You can always go a step higher and go for better hardware. But for most of us mortal the budget is the limiting factor. @ Ethereal: I sent the reseller a message to correct that statement. It's pretty obviously a mistake.
  18. Interesting! Thanks for sharing. My local reseller has the c2d e8500 listed as fitted with 2x3072kb lv2 cache.
  19. Ah, you meant the additional Lv3 Cache! Well, the equivalent Phenom is available for only 20 Euros more. But I don't know if the advantage will be that important. Check out these benchmarks: http://hothardware.com/Articles/AMD-Phenom-II-X2-555-and-Athlon-II-X4-635-Performance/?page=4 For a dual core, it's even less important, the way Lv3-cache works. But if you still consider going for the Phenom for the possible performance gain, you're so close to the i5, that I'd go for the intel. If you want to run BC2 at full details, I recommend an intel. But to be honest, you'll run the game at low or medium quality anyway, because it still looks awesome, but it's a LOT faster ;)
  20. To be honest, the test speaks a different language. The performance-gain is just when going from single-core to dual-core. The difference in the test showed, that quad-cores run the games even slower in some tests. So I wouldn't waste my money on that comment alone. (BTW: CoP has no multi-threading. It supports multi-core systems, because it's DX10.1. So it has the same limitations DCS and LO have. This would also correspond with the tests of CoP) Edit: Good idea. ;)
  21. Out of pure interest: What multicore-CPU you know does NOT use "split cache"? The mainboard and the memory already max out the CPU - there's not much margin for OCing if you go for just the cheapest price. I agree on the case, though, but that is probably not the most expensive part. A new case is available at 10-20 Euros if you don't have too high expectations. It also offers the chance to either keep both PCs or sell the old rig ;)
  22. What do you think about the AMD Athlon II X2 250 ? 3GHz and 2x1MB cache - and you save 30 Euros you can spend on the memory ;)
  23. If you can find it somewhere, I'd get Biostar A780L3 instead of the Gigabyte. It has a much higher data transfer rate (5.2MT/s while the Gigabyte has 2MT/s) for the same price. You'd need to get DDR3-memory, but you will support your CPU much better an you can still upgrade to more and faster memory later on. On the other hand, the Kingston Value RAM DIMM Kit 4GB PC3-10667U CL9 is just 40 Euros more, but a LOT faster. For LO and DCS you shouldn't save too much on CPU, mainboard and RAM. Edit: Yes, for LO and DCS a quad-core doesn't seem to increase performance much over a dual-core.
  24. Now, that's an easy one. If we're going to the Mars, the moon will be the first step. And why now? Simply because we now have knowledge and technology that wasn't there 35 years ago. Starting with the ability to produce water from the moons surface up to using the moons resources. Not to forget that any Mars-mission will depend on a tested system of long-term life and health support and planetary exploration, which for obvious reasons cannot be tested on earth and not on the ISS.
  25. LOOOL!
