  1. Ive been into BMS so long, getting back to DCS is going to be a labor of love. Been waiting for a MP CPIT since Janes LB2 Thanks for the video links. WIthout such, I never would have gotten the DCS BF109 and MiG15 off the ground.
  2. I remember when the Cougar came out in 1802... err 2002.... TM said the F16 screw on grips would soon be followed by a F18, EF2000 and MiG29. In 2010 we got the Warthog set. Now in 2017 we get the F18 (thank you TM!). So now we know what the design cycle is approximately: 7-8 years. Looking forward to the next one in 2025 or so. ;) There was also a very good fan mod grip for the WW2 Luftwaffe guys. I have one and its great quality from a gent that goes by the name Baur.
  3. Is the Me262 being developed currently?
  4. Make this work on a TM Warthog or Cougar base and connecting collar/post/pipe; and count me in for one! I do have one made by Baur that is the KG13B Luftwaffe stick grip for the Cougar. Nice to see 3D printing being used for this kind of project.
  5. The 220ohm shunt is a current limiter that only reduces the voltage by 1% (down to 4.95v) which leaves plenty of margin for the Hall Sensor which is fine at 4.50v. I actually prefer the shut resistor over the shunt wire method because worse case, if all the 5 pots wipers are at 0 ohms position on the TQS, it can potentially draw too heavily on the 5v source from the Cougar stick. Which begs the question why TM removed the R1 6.7Kohm limiting resistor on the newer TQS PCBs. Only TM engineers know for sure, but I'm guessing they were looking for a way to raise the voltage to all the pots from 3.8 to 5.0 volts (and effectively 12mA more current). Probably to reduces spiking and noise sensitivity. The down side is the worst case scenario I mentioned that is statistically unlikely and probably not permanently damaging. A simple workaround with minimal risk. Which is why you could get away with using the wire shunt instead of the 220 ohm resistor shunt. But again, the resistor shunt is better fire insurance.
  6. I figured Solkol1 would beat me to this with a simple rerouted trace to provide the 4.5-6.0vdc the Hall Sensor needs. He's on top of these things. What I would do differently is instead of cutting the trace on the TM pcb, is to change Miles' pig tail cable from being 3 wire to 2 wire (leaving the power pin unconnected). Then use a jumper wire from 5v (like Solkol1 did) to connect to the 3rd power wire on Miles' pig tail cable. Does the same as Solkol1's idea, just wired differently and doesn't require a pcb trace cut. The other option is to put a mini 3.8 to 5.0 vdc DC-DC step up converter on Miles PCB or piggy back on the TM PCB. They can be easily found for around a buck (plus S&H).
  7. Works perfectly first shot. Just use common sense when positioning the magnetic core to the solid state sensor IC. That is to say, apply symmetry w/r/t threottle throw and sensor to magnet alignment. This mod is simple and effective, cost affordable for most, easy to medium-easy to build, two tools (allen wrench and phillips screw driver, 1/2-1 hour assembly time. Easy paypal billing and fast shipping. Easy and accessible seller and inventor. No permenant modification to the TQS. Replaces tqs original z-axis analog potentiometer prone to spikes and failure with solid state linear sensor with virtually no wear out parts. Compatible with Realsimulator TUSBA-R2. Gets the AV8R seal of approval. I bought two, one to use and a spare.
  8. Miles, I'm in for a Cougar stick and throttle HS upgrade kit. Just contact me at the address I pm'ed you and it's the same for PayPal I use both the FSSB-R1 and FCC3 kits, and TUSBA-R2 but have a stock Cougar waiting for a HS mod like yours. I'm interested in comparing them as well. Excellent concept and execution, respect sir.
  9. MFDs with active cards These cards remind of of those I used with the old MasterPilot controllers I used back in the day before the TM Cougar MFDs came out. Now I use Cougars with LCDs What might be good is to not make cards for my situation with LCDs behind the MFDs, but use the actual PNG graphics file displayed on each MFD.
  10. Heya MOWER, Just left BMS long enough to test out my SU27 AFM and then I noticed I had no axes for toe braking. Dual throttles on the WartHog is perfect, but no toe brake for my Saitek Combat Pro USB rudders. Until they add axes, its probably a key mapping workaround.
  11. Im in the process of converting my Cougar TQS into Hall Effect Devices, to go along with the FCC3 mod for the FSS. So Ive been getting familiar with this process. Basically for under $10 one can get rare earth magnets and A1302 Hall sensor and replace that spiky throttle axis pot in the Cougar one and for all. Would be applicable to this project as well as its inexpensive and durable. The cost and design trade off would be in what A/D converter and matrix encoder solution you choose to employ. Whilst I was at Radio Shack buying parts for another one of my projects (USB F16 ICP), I picked up a Parallax 27911-RT 3-Axis Gyroscope Module to go along with their Arduino Uno REV 3 USB interface module I was playing with. Couldnt help but think about a joystick application instead of HE sensor devices. Probably too expensive, but elegant.
  12. Funny how things go... and soon FalconBMS will have a clickable cockpit Su-27 and then the SMK variant after that.
  13. Make a spitfire loop yoke or Me109 kg13 stick head, and I'm all in What kind of axes sensors are you going to use at how many bits?
  14. Does the matrix encoder handle multiple switch ghosting? If yes, how was that implemented?
  15. Love it! I made something similar for FalconBMS to use on my desktop.
  16. Falcon BMS is about to have a Su27 and I was thinking about HPO's thread I read a while back. Sad to see the project came to a halt. Hope he is Ok. Please contact me if this project continues. I definitely want in on the production run. Best wishes AV8R :joystick:
  17. Does this warehouse work for rearming and refueling off a carrier and in multiplayer? I tried on the latest DCSWORLD and FC3 and it didn't work for me online. Default warehouse state on a carrier is 100% of both fuel and weapons. Should be well stocked. Friendly Airbases did work however. Update: Worked in single player. Made sure I did an add on the suppliers under Summary and that resources were not limited
  18. Never heard of that one, but ill tinker with it until I figure it out. Thanks so much! EDIT UPDATE OK i played around with it some more and yes I was able to refuel on the carrier, at least in editor test fly mode. Thanks for the infos.
  19. my G15 keyboard (i have an early blue back lit one) have a few keys that dont map into standard keys in the Joystick Controls setup GUI. the keys are: (shifted and unshifted) ~ and ` (maps to: KANJI ) + and = (maps to: PREV ) [ and { (maps to: AT ) ] and } (maps to: [ ) \ and | (maps to: ] ) the workaround is to remap these to other keys within the GUI. Im on Win7 32bit and using latest G15 drivers for Win7. Typing outside of FC3 GUI, these keys act as normal. This existed within FC2 GUI as well.
  20. Refuel and rearm do not work on the carrier for the SU-33 in MP. They did work for airbases (of your same side only) in MP, and with engines off. Along with the air refueling, this is just as important for naval ops. Please effect repairs. :joystick:
  21. AK Carrier multiple a/c in MP takeoff Putting two Su33s side by side on the launch ramp is fine until the second human pilot issues the U command to setup for launching. Then the left hand side a/c is slapped ontop of the right hand side and they blow up. So thats two launch sites on the ramp, but only one is working. Workaround is to wait and launch one at a time. Sucks for dual launches. :pilotfly:
  22. WartHog's mini stick and COD Im sorry Im posting this here, as I've done also at the COD site to no avail thus far. The WartHog file site has minimal support for COD as well. But if some of you that use the WartHog and also fly IL2 COD would help me out, that would be much appreciated. The mini stick does not seem to be recognized properly in COD and its control GUI, as thus it just moves quickly to the lower right hand side of the main screen when in game and thats about it. Being new to the WartHog, I have been successful in getting all the buttons and axes mapped within the basic WH profile in TARGET. Works great with a couple more tweaks to go (like the flap switch commands will flood the other commands if left in the up or down state). The real issue for me now is trying to get the mini stick to act like a mouse in game properly. Does some of the mini stick profile code posted here work also work in other games? i do use a trackIR and I am aware of the mouse enable and disable mode in IL COD. Thanks
  23. My rig using 3 USB LCDs, one being a touch panel the other two not... DCS-A10c (DCS' LUA for MFDs, Helios for CDU) FalconBMS (Lightning's MFDE for MFDs, Helios for ICP) Ive tried a couple of iPad touch screen apps for the ICP and cockpit panels. While they worked OK, I personally don't like them.
  24. Serial#: 09876 Countdown number Location: Southern California, USA Purchased on Nov 8th 2011 Cougar FCC1 sits connected still, don't have the heart to decommission the old soldier
  25. @Peter, So SoftTH isnt just for "triple head to go" hardware configurations only... In the dummies guide, it mentions this, but does not go further: "SoftTH NEWS – ain-sightoverviewaboutSofTH.SoftTHisdonation-wareandletyoudowhatthe big GPU company's don't allow you to do or only at high costs. SoftTh let you render every monitor combination at High FPS in full-screen mode. You can even Mix SoftTH with AMD-Eyefinity and/or TH2GO,NVIDIA-Surround ! Especially interesting for DCS. -SoftTH let you use full-screen Mode If you export MDFS/ABRIS ect. on additional screens . You are not forced to use Windowed mode any more. Even Helios is working with DCS in Fullscreen on all secondary heads. And Yes , it will gain your performance!" these links get into the details, spread out in long customer support like threads (you've earne you right to be cheeky) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71710 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=69791&page=4 there's alot to read through in these threads, including what dlls you need and where they go. Do you intent to augment your dummies guide's to condense this into one application's note, or is that for another Not-so-dummies-guide follow on project? This would be what I'd be interested in. It appears that SoftTH could be used to run any sim in full screen mode, as long as the sim has what to support it? What do you think about Oates' CoordManipUlator script? (Have you tried it) http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1086335&postcount=10
