DCS A-10C producer notes number one!
Steve Davies replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Damn. Where do you live? -
Greg I cannot speak for ED, but I suspect that - as GG says - they set a time line in place for the A-10C, and that's not going to change. If it was not on the list then, it won't be now. That strikes me as being a very sensible way of doing it; if you want something that is right up-to-the-minute, you'll never see the sim because they will constantly be having to add new OFPs, weapons, avionics etc. Personally, I don't have a problem with them not including it because there is just SO much other stuff in A-10C to engross yourself with.
-
GG My understanding is that they wanted a missile quickly that they could use in coordination with SOFD and other SOF forces in AFG. I have never seen that written anywhere, though. Afraid that I don't know whether they are going to restart E production, but given that these missiles are in very short supply (the F-16 guys at the 422 wanted to develop it for their community, but actually allowed the A-10 guys exclusive use of their few test examples), you have to think that some kind of limited production run would make sense.
-
That's really the crux of this debate - if ED are modelling the A-10C before the 422 started developing TTPs, then the laser Maverick will not have been on the list.
-
GG The article is written by the A-10 unit's PAO about the unit. She doesn't need to say that it was an A-10 that launched it.

When I visited the 422 Test & Evaluation Squadron at Nellis in February 2009, they were at the end of developing tactics, techniques and procedures for the AGM-65E for the A-10C community. They explained that the reason they are rarely used/seen is because they are in exceptionally short supply - they had only a handful with which to test and develop the TTPs, for example. Based on this experience, and the empirical data about the production of the missile and limited use in combat, I think that it is fair to reason that the USAF does indeed 'use' it.

Personally, I'd model the AHCP. I don't have a problem entering data into the UFC/scratchpad using the mouse, but it'd be nice to physically move the arming, laser and target pod switches!

I'd be interested in reading the full report, but fuel imbalance has been a significant contributor to Eagle losses over the years. It is standard practise to check and call that your fuel is balanced between BFM set-ups in the Eagle jet, and one wonders whether this was accomplished on this particular sortie. I have seen the HUD video of an F-15E in a spin following a flight control problem that happened as soon as the pilot executed an 8g break turn - it's massively disorientating to watch even while sitting on the ground at 0 knots and 1g.
-
Wait until you fly DCS: A-10C Warthog and inadvertently end up in the MEZ of a tracked SAM launcher... when you do, you'll bleed all your energy in your first defensive break turn, and then you'll be wishing for a quick way to get the hell out of Dodge as he continues to launch missile after missile at you!
-
Wait for the TM Warthog - you will not regret it.

Without doubt the most subtle reference to my (almost) namesake that I have ever heard! If only I had his cash!

Selling because I don't need the G940 anymore. Nothing more than that! :)

I am selling my G940 Flight System on ebay. Shipping to the UK and Europe. If you are interested, please check out: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190403053535&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_500wt_1154 Thanks! Steve

Black Shark with TouchScreen+other stuff
Steve Davies replied to slimakwielki's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Nice setup :) What make and model is the touchscreen? Cheers Steve -
Very welcome :)
-
It uses signal triangulation.
-
This is not a bug - these aircraft cannot have more than one unit in any group. HTH Cheers Steve
-
Congratulations. We now have *3* threads on TM Warthog

Scarecrow I don't know about FFB effects. My comments were made specifically in relation to addressing the sloppy centre issue (a software function, apparently). Insofar as that goes, I don't work for ED and am not authorised to speak for them. So, for official comment you will need to ask ED directly about their relationship with CH and the level of support they have had. Steve
-
Nice try! But I said "apply opposite aileron" - that won't work in space :joystick:
-
Once the stick is released the roll should stop. What aircraft do you know where you have to apply opposite aileron to stop the roll moment? I don't know any. The only time you would apply opposite aileron is tp perform a crisp hesitation roll or similar.
-
£299 for a stick that doesn't move, has no pedals, and that does not have a configuration that (inspite of what the reviewer thinks) is modelled on the F-16 HOTAS in any recognisable form? Good luck with that. Having seen first hand what a waste of money the Logitech G940 is with its 'sloppy' centre, detent-less trims and dials, useless mini stick, and apparently recalcitrant attitude towards actually helping developers fix the sloppy centre issue; and having now watched this review, I have to ask whether these companies ever use focus groups or solicit feedback from the people who actually have that kind of capital to blow. I can only imagine that none of them expected to be in competition with TM again. Personally, I am looking forward to selling the G940 and buying the TM Warthog.

The G940. a guide...
Steve Davies replied to RealDCSpilot's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My G940 arrived yesterday and this guide has been a huge help - thanks! I get FFB for the trim, but nothing for cannon, rockets, landing or any other phase of flight. Is this correct? If not, how do I activate the other FFB effects? Cheers Steve
