If you do decide to buy it I would also recommend reading up a bit on the South African Military so that you have a understanding of the differant equipment used and units etc.

Update : It seems the heli lost its tail rotor and crashed into the frezzing cold damn. There were two other choppers with them but were unable to rescue them due to the freezing cold water.

Air force chopper deaths confirmed 12/05/2009 16:50 - (SA) Durban - Three Air Force members were killed when their Agusta A109 helicopter crashed into a dam in the upper Tugela area on Tuesday, the defence ministry said. The accident happened during a training flight to Dragons Peak Park in KwaZulu-Natal in the morning. The names of the dead would be released once their next of kin had been informed. "A board of enquiry has been convened to investigate the cause of the accident," the ministry said in a statement. "The Ministry, Chief of the South African National Defence Force, General Godfrey Ngwenya, extend their deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the deceased." Police captain Charmaine Struwig said the helicopter was on its way to Dragon's Peak at 11:00 when it plunged into Woodstock Dam and sank. "Police divers and SA National Defence Force divers have been called in to assist in the recovery of the wreckage and the bodies of the occupants who are at this stage suspected to have drowned," she said. The cause of the accident was not immediately known. - SAPA

In actual fact that is why it was so successful against the T-55s and T-60s during the Angolan Civil war because the t's couldn't see over the thick african bushveld while the Olifant could which resulted in a better sighting of the target and thus a better kill rate, in fact off hand I dont know of any olifants lost to enemy tanks.

Is it just me or do AI choppers not attack with rockets. I say this as ive set up a mission and a pair of Hinds are supposed to intercept this convoy but I only want to arm them with rockets ie. only unguided munitions. So the mission plays out but the Hinds reach there attack waypoint and just carry on going but if a add some missle launchers they will stop and engage with the missiles and then rockets but if there are only rockets they still dont seem to engage and its not like the attack waypoint is far away.

Sorry for brining up an old thread but it seems to me that some AI helicopters wont engage targets with rockets or gun pods but only onboard cannon. Some times they dont even engage at all. But if I fit them with ATGM they will engage using them then will use rockets.

Any one willing to do a South African Airforce Skin?
