ED approved home made AI aircraft or vehicles for updates
Zulu replied to carss's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Maybe creating AI aircraft has some issues. But what about simple ground vehicles? It would be great if we could increase our stable of ground vehicles. Technicals, MRAPS, AAA, other soft skinned/lightly armed vehicles. Since currently the choppers and light strike aircraft don't really have reasonable opposition to face. It would also allow us to expand the variety of models in terms of country specific vehicles. Especially the larger countries represented in DCS (such as China), that don't have unique units. I can't imagine there is as much difficulty with creating such models compared to aircraft. -
Thanks Yurgon, I just checked and you are right. I was inputting what I thought was a reasonable IAS but it is infact ground speed that you put in the editor. All good now.
-
Might be I will play around a bit more. I am only on 1.5.3 but I'm sure there can't be any differences in this regard between the two, so that sounds promising. It may be as Yurgon said above, about IAS vs GS. Thanks for your help chaps. :)

DCS not so good at simulating High Altitude? So I may be completely wrong with this but does DCS simulate high altitude well? Say 30 000ft+? Because, I have been fiddling around in the ME and to my mind an AWACS (E3) aircraft should be fine at 30 000ft but rather it struggles to maintain altitude and speed? I mean that's a standard altitude for an airliner? Same with say a Mig-25 or 31, they don't seem to be able to sustain their speed or altitude at 30 000+ even though they are designed exactly for that. Or am I doing/understanding something very wrong?

Oh yeah baby. Now all we need is a Nambia/Angolan map ! :)

Choppy in-cockpit camera movement (Mouse & Trackir 5).
Zulu replied to Toolboy77's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Although I don't have Track IR I also notice that I get significant stuttering especially when I zoom in. Good fps when looking around the cockpit but as soon as I try zoom in FPS drops to the teens. -
Ah I see, never mind then.

Well I just made a quick mission in the editor where a flight of Sabres comes across 8 migs trying to take off. Only by using bombs where we able to get the Migs to be completely destroyed. Rockets tore their wings and bodies to shreds but the were still 'alive' on the ground. Guns just set them on fire a bit. So there is clearly a problem then. Getting a direct hit by a salvo of rockets should utterly destroy any aircraft...not the Mig 15 though.

So when is the next one? I would really like to try it out.

Mirage III Buccaneer Aermacchi MB-326 Cheetah C :) Something that isn't American or Russian. I feel those will in all likelihood be steadily covered by ED and some of the other developers. Try be a bit different but not so much that no one will want it. (I know my last one is far fetched but one can hope + still classified)

Damn, I really wish you guys had chosen the CZ or AZ... but oh well maybe you guys can include some South African skins :) Looking forwards to it.

Are there any plans to change the Training menu GUI? I far preferred the old implementation, the new one is just to 'basic' if you know what I mean.
-
Must be going mad then...
-
Sorry if this question has been dealt with but I'm getting back into DCS and if I remember correctly there was one time where new models for the Russian rocket pods were made where you could see the individual rocket models in them. However now that seems to have been done away with. Am I right and if so why did the change it?

updatinf DCS World: Unknown Http Source error
Zulu replied to joker1's topic in Installation Problems
I am having the same problem even after creating a rule for DCS_Updater in my firewall. Does anyone know how I could resolve this? Update: I have somehow got it working by installing FC3 using the exe from the DCS website. Weird solution. -
Huey would be awesome :)

Did I say that? Now let us be civil here, all I was doing was stating the irrefutable facts.

Nope the SAAF was the first to develop and operationally deploy the HMDs, the Russians even stole the design from us with their high level spy in the SAN. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmet_mounted_display

How often does the RAF fly low like that, I know that it is a specific area you have to be in (read an article about it) but how do you know if they will show or not because that is something I must do some time

Where I can fly on real T-38 Talon for money ?
Zulu replied to SandMartin's topic in Military and Aviation
Well there was a place in Cape Town, South Africa called Thunder City where one could fly in a Lightning,Bucceneer or Hunters but sadly you are a bit late as it had its license revoked early this year following the outcome of an investigation into a crash one of the Lightnings had in 2009 -
C-27, an amazing aircraft. Have never seen a transport aircraft do such manuveres

It has now been accredited by the UK or something like that, and are being upgraded to Block 1F which will enable them to be deployed overseas but without any ATGMs although it seems that ATGM development is still carrying on. http://saairforce.co.za/news-and-events/920/139-changes-maketh-a-rooivalk-block-1f
