  1. Here ya go: All credit to 666th_birdy: http://352ndfg.com/smf/index.php?topic=1164.0
  2. Yes it is...there's a simple edit that was used in LOMAC that also works in BS. I'll need to search for it though as I can't remember what the steps were.
  3. Well I was hovering after about a 1/2 hour of instruction. Picking up and putting down were another matter entirely! :D My instructor had me hover-taxi back to the tarmac on my second flight (I had to weave in between parked helicopters..I was VERY scared). I almost killed us putting down, though...dropped the collective too fast and he grabbed it from me at screamed "NO". I LOVED hovering...I'm not bragging here, I just took to it fairly quickly. Unfortunately that was about the only thing I took to! (I left flight school after only 10 hours due to family reasons). This was in a Schweizer BTW.
  4. Well, when I was taking Helicopter lessons, I used FSX to practice start-up procedures. My instructor said: "Wow, you got that down quick!" :D
  5. Wow...more great stuff! Thank you!
  6. Okay, I got mine to work. You need dotNet 3.5. I had 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0. Works like a charm now! GREAT program. I'm havin' a blast with it. It's nice to load up the kinda mission you want to fly, in the aircraft you want, and just go blow stuff up. The Fast Battle Planner is too simple, and the stock missions I've played too many times! This is exactly what the "Doctor" ordered! ;) Keep it up!
  7. This sounds GREAT! Exactly what I've been waiting for...can't wait to get home and try it. BTW, I tried running it at work (just to see what it's like) and it wouldn't run. Do you need LOMAC installed for it to work properly?...I'd assume so. I've got the latest DotNet updates, too.
  8. Depends on who likes to be on top. <zing> Thank you, thank you...tip your waitress, try the veal...
  9. Excellent, thank you...
  10. I seem to remember a preview vid that had Ka-50s attacking an Aircraft Carrier. Anyone remember what it was called?
  11. So are there any circumstances when we should set it to "low"?
  12. SLI is overrated...at least for sims. In fact, one of my cards (8800GTX) overheated so I removed it. I haven't seen a difference...in fact, the case is cooler now without the extra card heating it up. I've also got the Q6600...what kind of cooling are you using? I'm considering O/Cing but don't want to press my luck with air-cooling. Sorry to de-rail the thread! I was looking at these commands myself. I was going to post the same question, but you beat me to it.
  13. Ok, folks...here ya go. Insert this into the LandTexturesTGA.cdds file using ModMan. Found in \Bazar\Terrain\Surface\ I accept no responsibility if you blow up your PC. ;) CLOUDSHADOW.rar
  14. Okay, no problem...I'll do it this evening! Does it matter to anyone if it's a ZIP or a RAR?
  15. I found out another helpful tip online last night: Don't drink and fly! I had a few too many White Russians (oh, the irony) before going online. I did fine until I ran across the enemy. I didn't get shot down, though. I was just about to WP 6 when I saw them. I then freaked out, yanked the cyclic back, dropped the collective too quick, and got into a vortex-ring state. BOOM. Next attempt, I said "Screw the valley, I'm going over the top". I forgot about the warning in the briefing about staying IN the valley. BOOM. Not even sure what got me. No laser warning, no visible baddies...just BOOM. Apparently my explosion could be seen for several kilometers and was very entertaining to watch. So, from now on, stay off the sauce before flight! Although, I didn't have any icing problems this time out...so that's something anyway.
  16. I don't know if I can...are there any legal issues? I wouldn't think so, but if anyone knows otherwise, please tell me...I don't wanna get into trouble. :) I can't do it from work, but if I have enough time tonight at home, I'll upload it somewhere.
  17. HAHAHAHA!! That's GREAT! And I can sympathize about the wife & kids...I've been staying up late just to get some time alone with my new "love"... :) And yes, you DO have to ask for a disconnect...I found out the same way you did!
  18. Yeah, Betty (Nadia?) was saying watch EKRAN, but I was too busy trying a mid-air re-start...gotta work on my emergency procedures. Don't know what I'm gonna do when I actually get into combat!
  19. Oh, I thought I did have that on, actually. Maybe it was set to Dust Prot instead. I don't use the cheat anymore...hell I've got the start-up memorized (I know, I know, always use your checklists). When I get home I'll set up some Training Missions in cold weather. God I love this sim.
  20. There's an engine de-icing switch? Crap. :D
  21. Not being a big MP guy, I figured I'd take a shot at BS online. I used to fly some Il-2, but I got tired of getting my arse handed to me. I thought at least with Black Shark, it's co-op! :) So, I joined the "Valley of Death III" server hosted by the 159th (it was getting good reviews, and had the most players). Snow. Okay, I haven't flown in snow yet, so I figured it be good practice. I had trouble starting my Right engine, but it finally caught. With everything in the green I flip on rotor anti-ice, and pitot heat. So there I am in the valley, with two other players up ahead. I decide to increase speed to catch up with them. I pull some more torque and get to about 250. I get the engine warning light a few times, but this had happened before in SP and I survived no problem. I push on ahead. Then my Right engine quit. I pulled the throttle to max and tried to restart...no good. I lower the gear and attempt to land on one engine. I land in a river and explode. :) Anyway, fun while it lasted. Anyone got any cold-weather flying tips? ;)
  22. True, but it's still a marvelous piece of machinery. The fact that it's a single-seater always impressed me. Not very practical, but at least it's unique! Hell, I can't even think of another single-seat helicopter at all...military OR civilian...except for those home-built jobs.
  23. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34791&page=2 I've given some horrible directions how I fixed mine using work TekaTeka did. He deserves the real credit here, I just kinda followed his stuff and applied it to BS.
  24. Well, I'm not good at giving instructions, but here goes: 1) Use ModMan's CDDS explorer to look at the "\[Ka-50 directory]\Bazar\Terrain\Surface\High\LandTexturesTGA.cdds" file. 2) Extract CLOUDSHADOW.TGA.dds 3) Use Martin Wright's DXTbmp.exe to open this file. I found this program while I was looking for FSX stuff. I'm not sure where I got it, but a Google search should bring it up. 4) Send the Alpha Channel to the editor (thid is done in DXTbmp.exe). My editor is an old version of PhotoShop. Not sure about how to do it with other programs. DO NOT close DXTbmp 5) Erase the Alpha Channel. I mean actually use the eraser tool and make sure there's nothing on the Alpha Channel. 6) Just click save. Not 'save as' 7) Go back to DXTbmp and "reload from editor". Then save. 8 )Insert the file you changed back into LandTexturesTGA.cdds...again using ModMan's Explorer. I'm just remembering off the top of my head here. I'm at work, and can't check my instructions. I'm hoping someone here can give a better set of directions.
  25. So no more Ka-50 then? :( Oh well, makes since, but I always liked the 50 better (in looks only)...;)
