The "Thunder" could be fun and all... But hoping for ma' MiG-23. :) BTW 10 pages! :D Now lets post until 23 to... Well, you get the point. ;) Also, what would you guys think about an Su-15TM module? It would avionics wise be the bigger brother of the MiG-21bis, sacrificing some maneuverability and A-G weapons in the process. But who am I kidding, MiG-23 would be a better option. >:] Some stats I stole from Wikipedia: :devil_2: Su-15TM AVIONICS: "Taifun-M" Detection range: high/low flying targets 70km/15km Lock range: high/low flying targets 40km/10km Detection envelope: +30°/-10° Vertical; +/- 70° Horizontal WEAPONS: 2x R-98MR/MT (Range: 23km); 4x R-60 (Range: 8km); optional 2x gun pods (a practical must because as far as I know it did not carry a gun) WING LOADING: 555 kg/m² CLIMB RATE: 228 m/s COMBAT RADIUS: 725 Km MAX SPEED: Mach 2.1 (2,230 km/h) loaded at high altitude. SERVICE CEILING: 18,100 m

Yeah, but still makes night/limited visibility fighting so much easier! Y u Russians get rid of it for the MiG-21bis!?!? ;) Well... Probably because missiles are going to do the job better, from a farther range, and if you fire 6. The chances of not getting a dud or a malfunction are in your favor. :) And of course, 2x 30mm pounding (add to that 2x R-3S) is always a nice thing to have coming towards your enemy! :D Gonna be a nice bird to learn! Do you guys have any plans to do other Russian aircraft in the future? Maybe Su-15 if we are going for fighters/interceptors or Su-17/20/22 for strikers? And of course, one can only dream about a full fidelity (realistically early model) MiG-29/Su-27. But as far as I know those are planned by ED. Though I would prefer cold-war era birds! :pilotfly:

Gotta hope, gotta hope! :D

Same concerns here... :( Well, lets hope they aren't too secretive about it. After all it isn't that great of a fighter, it's designed for numbers. But will certainly be a massive improvement for the RED team! :D Gonna be great! :) That is if it all works out... :I
-
Ok, thx for the info! :D I am really exited about the HUD with the target marker on it! :) It seems such a step back that the MiG-21bis doesn't get it tho... Would have been so great for night missions. :(
-
However I am not sure they will apply for 3rd-party status. If not then we sadly wont be able to use the aircraft in MP, accept some special servers which allow for mods. But... Ya' gotta hope! :D Also, me wanty MiG-23'y! :3

Well... You can always just jam all the colored flares out (that is if it had any...), it would be a more interesting and colorful sight for the missiles! ;) But well, when we look at opposition from the same time period. Then a simple hard turn could defeat a missile. :D Of course the same applies to your missiles as well... :I

We will get them. But it's always fun to speculate about a MiG-23 being developed. After all RAZBAMs one was rejected due to it "conflicting with already established plans". Seems a lot to me that someone has plans or is making one! :D Or not, and I am just dreaming... ;) However in the unlikely case that it is being developed, we have but one question... By whom? Leatherneck just seems likely, since they are the only ones to ever make a full fidelity Russian 3(or up)-gen fighter in DCS. Maybe They have it planned for the future after their likely P-38 project? I still can't let go of the (likely false) hope that someone is developing a MiG-23 for DCS. :D And luckily it does indeed seem like we are getting more Eastern designs to learn and master in DCS. :)
-
Ok, ok. Back on MiG-19p topic! :D How were the CM? Did it even carry them, did it have the option to attach them on special racks like on the MiG-21bis?
-
Indeed, the more birds the merrier! :D Though I would still prefer the MiG-23 (personal biases coming from an ex-soviet republic ;)). It would probably be easier to get documentation on as well, since the J-8II is in service with the Chinese. And they seem to be a bit secretive, gotta hope it's old enough... :( Still, would be a day-1 buy for me! But the MiG-23 would just be a more "hypey" day-1 buy! :D
-
As far as I can tell, it seems to be a mix of the MiG-23 and Su-15 (both birds I would really like to see in DCS! :D). So if we were to get one... Nice! :) Though the MiG-23 and Su-15 are still the originals, and for that I think they would have more mass appeal. ;)

Chances of a Leatherneck helicopter module

The Tom-Kitty isn't a proper fixed wing, they move! :) Me be hypey! :D -
Yup, we are going to get the MiG-19p (interceptor variant with IR-missiles!). :D Me be hypey! :3
-
... And see how much flying a 22 year newer (A-variant) aircraft gives you an advantage, though I am not sure if the MiG-19p will be able to out-turn a Tomcat... In which case with proper evasion tactics it is gonna be a really dangerous bird to fly against!. The MIG-21bis should be from the same time period as you (same year!) and the main opponent that it was designed to face (Bear aside)! :) Still, the MiG-23M would also be same year (a few months earlier that year, but still)! And in my opinion, a much more worthy opponent than the MiG-21bis. :D It's a shame we won't be getting one. :( *EDIT* A lot of aviation things happened in 1972! :D
-
Me likey! Me thinkey gonna be a great module! :D
-
Yup, I also think the MIG-23 would fit into DCS better than the MiG-25/31. Just for the fact that it can do BFM. :) And oh the new stuff... GIMME! GIMME! GIMME! :D
-
Wouldn't agree with you on the "...It's basically (payload-wise) a MiG-21..." part. But it certainly does hover! :D Armaments wise it is a downgrade from the MiG-21bis. For the A-A role you get (if you opt for maximum missile load on the MiG-21bis) 4 less missiles! That's the amount of missiles an M-2000c carry's. Not to mention no R-3R's so no all aspect capability. :( The A-G armament is basically the same so... Your right there! :)
-
Though interestingly the missile trigger cover (if I remember correctly) does not behave like that. So it opens once you press the button underneath it, with the press of the button working. Manually opening/closing it with the mouse cursor does not seem to make a difference. So yeah... Weird, but I don't complain at having to do less! :D
-
Yup, in the end it is about asking for more! :D My most wanted module it the MiG-23ML. That would be just so great! I would (at least as myself as an example) disagree with you on the last part. While yes they most certainly would be bought like hotcakes. I don't think I would fly them that way. After all I fly the MiG-21bis against modern fighters because it's the newest (full fidelity) fighter we have on the Russian side... ;) In the end... MOAR! >:]

*Joins in using a tinfoil hat for increased protection against the Second Sun's rays (SS, just noticed it... ГИТЛЕР ЖИВЕТ В АРГЕНТИНЕ!!!), intelligence and logic* I am imagining them! I can feel them! I can see... The automatic ejection system accidentally ejecting the pilot of the Yak-38, and because he/she had been given no warning of it it broke their back... The parachute has "NO FUN OR OVERLY AGGRESSIVE MANEUVERING" written on it. Also... Where ma' MiG-23ML! :D
-
So in the end... MiG-25/31 (although I would not get my hopes up for the latter because the Russians are very secretive about their operational stuff... :() please! :D If we are going to get one, I am wondering how will the automatic target acquisition mode (with the help of ground radar and data-link) work in DCS? My assumptions: 1) It will work through the "Mission Editor", in which case the target and radar(s) would have to be preset in there. Don't see this working in PVP MP though... 2) You would have to ask for it in the comm menu, I would see this as the more practical solution. 3) There will be some system where a "forward observer" (GCI) assigns targets to players. This system would only work in MP, and require a change to another module... So most likely, no. 4) They will come up with some other magic... Or just make us use our WSO/RIO's (at least in MP) instead. ;) But in the end, where ma' MiG's! :D
-
Well... I am not quite "by the book" either. ;) I have an "improvised" starting procedure, I have "Emergency Afterburner" switched on at all times... For that matter I even have the master arm switched on at all times, and don't even bother with the lights! :D Who cares about safety when you have an infinite/constantly replenishing amount of lives anyway? :P
-
Yup, it works like the CM dispense button. So you got to open the cover first. :)
-
Yup, gotta hope! :)

Nice! :D
