im currently renting a server - but figured I could save a little money by owning my own machine. The Huey is Hell to learn but once you do - she is truly one of DCS's best modules. I enjoy the Huey more than the current flagship modules like the Hornet and Tomcat. I think the Viper will be the only module (if any) that will pull me away from the Huey.

hey Raiden. I believe a Xeon cpu will work just fine. I actually ran a few missions using a Xeon E3-1270v2 a little while ago and worked without any issues. Believe you just need to make sure you have some type of sound driver installed (not 100% sure). Have to admit with the new dedicated server its not using up many resources. CPU and mem usage remains kind of low. But I would still have at least 16GB ram along with an SSD.

Had my rift s and 2080 TI for 2 weeks now - no regrets at all.

After saving up my pennies and reading thru all the threads on the topic of the Rift S. I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. Yesterday my 2080 Ti and Rift S arrived. still trying to figure out the best settings - but so far I am enjoying the nice upgrade from the CV1. I can actually read the instruments without my contacts or glasses. The res is SO much better coming from the CV1. :thumbup: I have only been using the new gear for a couple of hours now - so I have yet to experience some of the issues I have ready others may be having but im keeping an eye out for them and will definitely report back if they come up. so what are of the best settings you guys are using to get the most out of your card and the rift? :book:

Nice Sierra! I too would love to hear more feedback on this topic. I started my little project just to kills some free time but I am now going to be in this for the LONG run. At the moment I am renting a server so that I may have dedicated hardware strictly for dedicated server use. My current server that im renting is an i7 6700K with 32GB ram. And im almost certain that this may be a bit of overkill. only using the server for the DCS Dedicated server tool. I figured if I rented a server for 6 months - hell that cost is more then enough for a decent box of my own here at home. So what are you other admins running on your server? Just wanted to get some ideas on a server setup.

Ok I have really been feeling the itch to go ahead and purchase a 2080 Ti and upgrade my Rift from the CV1 to the S. Figured I would help offset some of the cost when I sell my 1080 Ti and of course selling my CV1. Hell I still have my track IR which has only about 4 months of usage but I have had for about 2 years now. Once I went VR - there was no turning back. For the guys who have already made the plunge with the 2080 TI, how did you guys sell your old card? Was it pretty easy to get rid of? Are used 1080 Ti's selling like hotcakes? on ebay craigslist ect??

I can't agree more. The Huey in VR is truly awesome. Shadows have always been a frame killer in DCS. lol But there are tons of great missions for the Huey.
