  1. Adding my thanks, too. Keep up the awesome work, guys. Oh - and Bud really is an undrinkably awful beer. :D
  2. It depends on the content of the patch which, to the best of my knowledge, is a complete unknown at this point. If it's a comprehensive, feature-and-fix laden patch like 1.2.3 it could take months. If it's "simply" delivering supporting functionality for the UH-1, it could take significantly less time. My guess is that ED will be keen to start monetizing the UH-1 as soon as possible, so they'll probably try to prioritize a quick turnaround on 1.2.4. I have nothing to back that up, though. It's just my own perspective.
  3. Let me get this right. You're "raging" because no one has seen fit to release any fresh screenshots for a video game? Raging? Seriously? I'm as excited as anyone for this module, but the growing hysteria around this and 1.2.3 is starting to get a little embarrassing. Come on, people - let's try to retain just a little perspective and dignity.
  4. He couldn't, but that's because a real helicopter's cyclic stick behaves differently to the stick you're using at home. In the real helicopter, hitting the trim button effectively just resets the forces on the stick. That can't work in the sim unless you have a force-feedback stick. If you don't have force-feedback, you're going to suffer the bumps. Central Trimmer mode works much better in my experience (totally smooth), but not everyone has that experience, apparently.
  5. Staring into my crystal ball, I foresee Matt REALLY regretting that statement in the coming months. :D
  6. Ah! That's good info and definitely different to what I understood. Thanks for the clarification. I'll edit my post to avoid causing confusion.
  7. Note that this DOESN'T save every setting. It saves your key/axis for the selected AIRCRAFT and DEVICE. In other words, if you're looking at the Mig-29S and you have a box under TM Warthog Throttle selected, what will get saved is your Mig-29S key and axis assignments for your TM Warthog Throttle assignments. This means, of course, that your Mig-29S assignments for your Joystick or Keyboard will NOT be saved. Finally, you do NOT need to save out the profile in order for your changes to be applied. It's just if you want to back them up or copy them to another aircraft. It's a little confusing and long-winded at first, but it's actually really powerful.
  8. Yep. These are all old, but they're still very pretty. :)
  9. Agreed
  10. Fantastic info, Viper! Thanks so much! :)
  11. I was more thinking that a wide battlefront with wind running over it would make it suicidal to try to line up with or against the wind because it would place you directly above enemy units.
  12. Thanks a lot for all of the responses, guys. Looking forward to getting home tonight and watching Daniel's track. Thanks for taking the time to put that together and post it. The one thing I wonder, though, is what if the tactical situation doesn't permit you to get directly upwind/downwind of the target, e.g. FLOT runs East/West and wind is also blowing East/West? That would mean an approach from the North/South which would have you once more fighting the crosswinds.
  13. I suspect you're missing the point. I doubt that Belsimtek are foolish enough to use the name without permission when they've spent the last few months dealing with all sorts of legalities. The logo says "Bell Helicopter - Official Licensed Product", which suggests that a deal has been struck to use the name. Also, the file is named "Now_We_Have_Agreed".
  14. Hey guys, I consider myself a fairly competent Ka-50 pilot, but I'm having a nightmare with the Operation Medvedev II campaign. My issue is that my Vikhrs are constantly failing to home onto their targets. I've attached a track. The action starts at about 13:26 local time as I begin attacking a group of 3 tanks. The firing sequence looks as follows: 1. Miss 2. HIT 3. Miss 4. HIT 5. Miss 6. Miss 7. Miss 8. Miss 9. Miss 10. HIT It's possible that wind is affecting the missiles, but it's only at 4 knots according to the PVI 800 and if it IS the wind, I have no idea how to correct for it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! VikhrProblems.trk
  15. I am stupidly excited about this news. The splash screen makes it seem all the more real... and close! :) This, along with 1.2.3, is definitely going to brighten up the near future. :joystick:
  16. Also - and this is going to sound really stupid - have you tried pressing Pause twice? I've noticed that it sometimes needs to be pressed once to remove the "Pause screen" that appears once the world has finished loading, but then pressed again to actually unpause the sim. That's caught me out a couple of times. Alternatively (and this has caught me out, too) have you accidentally toggled your keyboard's F-Lock?
  17. We had a nightmare working on [PROTOTYPE 2] as Activision had had some legal issues with aircraft in the Modern Warfare games and wouldn't let us use Apaches or Blackhawks in the game. We spent week reworking and resubmitting the models to Activision's legal department to ensure that our replacements were far enough away from the look of the real aircraft to avoid any legal actions. Me and the Studio Head, who are both really interested in military aviation, hated the process with a passion. :(
  18. Hi Sorbek. Welcome to the forums. :) I think you're looking at this the wrong way around. You don't want to move the small circle towards the large one - you want to move the large one towards the small one. The small one is overlaid on top of whatever you want to kill. The large one represents the cone of engagement for the Vikhr laser-guided missiles. In order to get the 'C' launch authorisation, you need to align the large circle with the small one. The way to do this is with careful use of rudders. As you've noticed, the Auto Turn to Target function only roughly aligns you with your target. You need to use rudder inputs to "fine tune" the solution. Hope this helps.
  19. As I said, you need to use RALT+\, not just \. I appreciate that it's confusing that \ works on the ground for certain functions, but RALT+\ is actually the right combination to use.
  20. The 104th's server is generally really good, too. That's where I took my first nervous steps into the world of online flying and I've since met a whole load of really friendly, patient, helpful people. You don't need to be an expert at all and no one's judgmental about your skills as long as you don't go intentionally causing trouble. Oh, and TS isn't a requirement, either. My advice - jump on in and start enjoying yourself.
  21. The mapping got changed fairly recently. You'll need to use RALT+\ to bring up the menu. Not clear on why it changed or what value it brings, though. Maybe someone can help clear that up for me. I'm probably missing something really obvious. Note: You'll also need to pay attention to radio frequencies now (along with your switch setting if you want to talk to your ground crew).
  22. Hi, I've just been playing the Mig-29 "Over the Hump" campaign and it appears that the second mission (SEAD escort for two Su-25T) can't be completed. The problem is that they launch their anti-radar missiles, but the missiles always land about a meter or two behind their target (an SA-11 Buk radar), causing zero damage. This, of course, means that the mission can't be completed because destruction of the radar is a key requirement. :( I've flow this mission about 6 times and had the same result on 3 occasions.* Fixing this would be most helpful. Cheers Pizzi *On the other 3 occasions I got shot down before the missiles were even launched...
  23. I didn't listen to the interview, but the way you've transcribed it suggests that only the F-15 is "study sim level". Did you get the sense that that's what Wags was actually implying? I could imagine the F/A-18C and Su-27SM only being done to FC standards (although that would be disappointing), but it's harder to imagine an FC level Fw-190 next to the DCS Mustang.
  24. The unfortunate truth is that trees and buildings don't affect enemy line of sight, so you can't use them to mask yourself. It's still worth learning about vortex ring states and getting a feel for the signs of it, though. Even the experienced guys will occasionally get caught out by it.
