  1. Really good stuff! TrackIR will make a HUGE difference to your Black Shark experience once you've got it set up to your liking. As Teeps said, it can feel awkward and unintuitive at first, but it will eventually become second-nature and completely vital to you flight simming experience. Enjoy your new TrackIR and nice work on the video!
  2. That's not a bad idea... ...except that I can't remember the real names. :) I think you're right about "Dusk", though.
  3. Hi guys, I've put together a few After Action Reports (AARs) over at SimHQ. They're basically the story of some of the missions I've flown in the Deployment campaign along with a load of screenshots. Take a look and see what you think. From my own perspective, I think they get better with time (meaning that the ones at the bottom of the list are better than the first ones). 4. Hi guys, At some point in the Deployment campaign I must have pushed the wrong button during a debriefing and the game has jumped backwards by one mission. In other words, the "current" campaign mission that I'm being offered is one that I've already completed. I don't want to do this mission again - I just want to do the one that I was trying (and failing) to complete when I quit the debriefing. I assume that there's a file somewhere in which I can just increment the current mission by one in order to pick up the campaign where I really left it. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  5. Yep. It's truly amazing achievement. Easily the most compelling and rewarding sim I've ever played. Love it.
  6. Hi guys, Can anyone point me to the correct cockpit procedures for engaging an aerial target, please? I was flying a mission last night in which my flight got jumped by a pair of Hinds. I had to leave my wingmen to fight the battle for me whilst I flew away with my tail between my legs. Pretty embarrassing, really. I've searched through the manual, but I can't find any specific reference as to how you go about locking up a fast, maneuverable target. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. I'm currently running at medium/low settings with a distinctly out-of-date P4 3.6Ghz w/ 2Gb RAM and a Radeon X1950 @ 1920 x 1200 and I'm getting 15 FPS on the ground and 20-25 FPS in the air. At the risk of offending someone with a shiny new PC, I would suggest that you could turn down some of your options slightly with very little hit on the graphics side of things whilst simultaneously getting a meaningful increase in FPS. From Matt in the recent Sim HQ interview:
  8. As long as you turn on Intercom and VHF-2 on the right-hand wall, you should be able to use \ and the function keys to talk to anyone you want to.
  9. You also need to make sure that the Shkval reticule intersects/overlays the reticule of the targeted object. Sounds obvious, but I didn't get that at first.
  10. This might not help, but you need to make sure: 1. You have the latest version of the TIR software running (v4.1. Built 36). You can get it from http://www.naturalpoint.com 2. When it's running, go to Updates -> Check for Game Updates and get the latest 3. Close down BlackShark AND the TIR software, then restart both Hope this helps
  11. Go to http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com and navigate to e-shop. The serial number will be there.
  12. I'd also like to add my name to this thread. I first started playing flying games (before there was any concept of a simulator) over 20 years ago. Back then, I never would have dreamed that I'd ever get to see something as truly astonishing as Black Shark in my lifetime. Flanker was a great sim, but lacking in immersion and structure. Flanker 2 and 2.5 were big disappointments to me because they completely failed to address these issues. I felt very much the same about Lock On and the only reason I persevered with Flaming Cliffs was because the Su-25T was such a joy to fly. The arrival of Black Shark has changed all of that. Finally, we have the holy grail of high-fidelity study sim and great gameplay. As an earlier poster pointed out, it's like the days of Longbow 2 again. Black Shark really has turned out to be exactly what I hoped it would be and more. As someone who's been making games for over 11 years, I can really appreciate the love, hard-work and craftsmanship that's gone into this sim. It truly is an amazing achievement. Congratulations, ED. I really hope this turns out to be as big a success as it deserves to be. PS - I can't wait for the Mi-24. ;)
  13. Oh... my... God... That fix is the single best thing to happen to my fight simming experience in years. After playing around with it in Black Shark and suddenly being able to fly as smooth as silk, I went back and tried the same thing in Flaming Cliffs and Il-2 1946. Unbelievable. Just the most incredible sense of smooth, precise control. I could pinpoint strafe armour in the Su-25T and pick off chunks of 109s at 300m. WHY DID NO ONE EVER TELL ME ABOUT THIS BEFORE!!! :D
  14. Hi guys, I'm having trouble getting the Cougar script to work. :( I copy/pasted it into my *.tmj file and got I quickly figured out that this was because it seems like some spaces had gone missing from the script. Having added all of the relevant spaces, I then got I'm pretty sure that my firmware version is up to date (3.06). Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
  15. Hi guys, Some time ago there was talk about the idea of a printed manual that could be bought separate to the game. Does anyone know if this is still planned?
  16. Photographic evidence, please... :)
  17. I have the same problem and that seems like an incredibly smart solution. Nice thinking, Phoenix.
