  1. Yes, I think so.
  2. Indeed, there are quite a few people flying with a full C loadout all the time. I have thought about putting up a rule saying this isn't allowed, but it would be hard to police and mean a lot of work. Instead, last month I implemented a new rule that limits each pilot to 200 units of each air-to-air missile per month. When a pilot passes this limit of 200 units he will no longer get points or kills shown on the stats board. Also, the players he kills with these weapons will no longer get the -15 points for dying. Since I implemented this rule some pilots already have diversified their flying routines :D
  3. These are some numbers on air-to-air missile usage I accumulated on the 51st server during August, September and October 2010. Shown here are the percentages of the missiles that killed (blue), hit (green) or missed (red) their target. At the right it shows how many missiles of each type were fired. During this three month period over 20000 air-to-air missiles were fired. This is an update of the plot I showed earlier, but now using much more data. In general, I think one can conclude the following: R-73's are the best air-to-air missiles, having over 50% chance of hitting their target, and about a 1 in 3 chance of killing it. Of the long-range radar missiles, they are ordered: R-77, AIM-120C, AIM-120B, AIM-7, R-27ER, R-27EM (note the small numbers on AIM-7 though). AIM-120C's are only slightly better than AIM-120B's. AIM-7's are most lethal when hitting. R-27ER's are the same as R-27EM's.
  4. Thanks! The stick base is indeed a bit wider than the Cougar, which was 18cm wide if I remember correctly. I may have to make some changes to my HOTAS table if I get this one.
  5. Thanks for the write up Coolts! Can you provide some numbers for the size of the base of both stick and throttle? It seems the stick base is quite a bit larger than the Cougar.
  6. Check this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=552343&postcount=330 Extremely sturdy, extremely cheap, extremely easy to make!

    Alfa!

    Happy Birthday!
  12. Apparently your work is received well by ED Blindspot! The DCS:Hog mission editor has quite a few of the features you implemeted in DCS:BS and FC2.0! Very well done!
  13. Congrats Hitman and Frogfoot!

  15. Great stuff Viper! Very cool shots!
  16. Like some sort of watermark? Or a date/time stamp? You probably want to look for some sort of batch program that can do this.
  17. Can you be a bit more specific Bob? What exactly are you trying to do?
  18. Thanks GG!
  19. GG, are there numbers that you are aware of, and if so, that you can share, for how many contracts ED is working on? I would like to have some sort of feeling how many contracts ED is involved in at present or any give time. I can't imagine the market for military simulations being very large and I doubt there will be contracts for planes that are not being flown anymore (unfortunately).
  20. Yes. Instead of regular notepad, use notepad++. Here's an even better tip: select the LUA from the language drop down box and you will even get syntax highlighting. Now I could go into the debate that actually, you should use emacs, but I don't want to start another flamewar :) In case you were wondering, this says it all really: And yes, you're a nerd if you actually know what the strip was about :smilewink:

Yes there is. Check this post by Soviet. You can edit the chat-log.res file to display now lines at all. Remember though that you may also miss server rotation messages. Edit: Note to self Check the rest of the thread to see if others didn't already post exactly the same information :D
  22. Please also check the 51st PVO Regiment server: DCS/FC2 Server: 212.37.145.18:10308. The server is located in Denmark. TS3 Server: 51st.hopto.org:9987 Integrity Check Package: Identical to most main-stream servers (we were the first to set one up). Statistics: The Best FC2/DCS Stats Page For more information, check our website.
  23. My gut feeling says it's hardcoded at a 1Hz cycle, and probably for a reason. However, if you want to simulate ripple release bomb explosions you may be able to use landmines (under static objects). If you place them close enough to eachother you could trigger the explosion of the first, and then that explosion will trigger the others. I've tried this once and it didn't work, but you might have to place them closer to eachother.
  24. Here it is on Google Maps. It does raise the question why the Ukraine is training pilots in carrier ops, or is Russia still involved at Saki?
