  1. Yeah well the problem with SAMs is you can steer clear of them so that diminishes their effectiveness and trolling factor. You can also make them run out of missiles with relative safety. At some point the hornet will also have the SLAM-ER which will be excellent for taking down radars. If we ever got a MIG31 (when hell freezes over) we would truly have a true redfor powerhouse. Maybe we could settle with an updated SU-27...
  2. Funny how people played fleet defender back in the day and never complained about the hud but now if it’s not 60hz it immediately “makes the game unplayable for me”. LOL Anyway it should be included in case some people do have a problem, a real one that is.
  3. I’m all for realism but if some guys have health issues I would urge for the option to be there so they can enjoy the module. I would want it to be selectable in mission settings though so mission makers can have control over this.

  5. As has been stated the fc3 planes were used to populate dcs world servers when the only available modules were the a10 and the ka50. Ideally they would be all turned to full fidelity modules in a dream world were economics didn’t exist or matter. But economics do matter. And if we analyze your request we get extra costs for the simplified model and systems, the lost revenue from people buying the simplified version for YouTube videos or the wow factor (instead of the full extra tricked out 80s avionics and flight systems paradise+ added carrier bundle) vs the increase in sales from people who wouldn’t bother buying it but will give it a go with an easier learning curve. Somehow I don’t think there are so many of them to tip the scales of economics. YouTube will need a new data center for the Tomcat videos either way though:pilotfly:
  6. The way dcs is now I would recommend someone who is not interested in full procedures etc to play something else. We trade decent optimization, ridiculous specs and long lasting bugs because of the depth and complexity this game has or can eventually achieve. If you take these out you have something that can be bested by other offerings easily. Also if you think about it if heatblur made an fc3 option available it would be through an optional setting in the full module. Definitely not another module as this would create multiplayer havoc. The module is set to retail in excess of $70US at least. Has this audience you are describing the commitment to shelf out such an amount for arcade play?

  12. There was a bug with the antialiasing not working on the cockpit instruments on the F5. Not sure if it is fixed yet.
  13. A guy died in 2003 trying to fly an A10 back like that. Little reason to have such a system except perhaps to give a pilot a few precious miles before bailing to distance himself from the guys he just bombed...
  14. They can’t fly without hydraulics because it’s impossible to provide the control forces needed anyway else. Still unlikely is not the same as impossible. Same happened to the DC10 in Sioux City.
  15. Total hydraulic loss on a modern airliner is extremely unlikely. On fighters like the F5 albeit the probability of a hit causing a total hydraulic failure was very much real I don’t think a fail safe was in the designers agenda anyway. After such a devastating hit you where expected to bail anyway. I remember on 1.5 on the Cold War server my F5 took a few rounds causing an engine fire on the left engine. I could perform an emergency landing as I was literally next to a friendly airfield but the hydraulic loss on the remaining hydraulic made the approach an eye opening experience.:pilotfly: I guess I was lucky I had the flight controls hydraulic working long enough to get me down.

  17. We all now no matter how the new AIM54 performs it will be an exceptionally controversial subject anyways. :lol: No such thing as keeping this community happy... Historically though there was little use for the Phoenix after the ussr.
  18. Probably because the threat wasn’t there anymore and the plane that carried it was retired? Do some reading on the F14 and you will find the in game performance reasonable and the reasons why it was retired from service.
  19. It’s more complicated than x amount of explosives y distance away given fragmentation effects and the velocities involved. The kinematic performance of missiles is also complicated in its nature and real world data is hard to find. Also the current dm is on its way out and so are the missile physics currently implemented. So the bugs everyone is seeing are only normal and besides remember this is open BETA where these bugs are being discovered and ironed out. There is no easy solution to any of this or magic formula. We have to be patient. Bare in mind everyone fudges up their missile performance on publicly released data making things even more complex. You can go back to 1.5 if they bugs are too much for you.
  20. You’re right they can be used in scenarios. However there are notable differences. With your logic an F4 Peace Icarus or Terminator is Vietnam era however I don’t think this is the case...
  21. If you want to be precise standard (29,92) is set at transition altitude which is 18000 feet in the USA but in other areas of the world varies and is usually lower. Russian procedures also use the metric system as altitude measuring speed wind velocity etc. a remnant of Soviet procedures and a real pain especially when assigning flight levels to incoming traffic that is flying in feet... DCS really needs to get its sh!t straight and address these stuff at some point.

  25. Like others said the SU24 is a beast. You have to keep flaps retracted and dive on it to get a shot. Jettison your external tanks and convert potential energy to kinetic, fire from 1 to 1,5 miles out and you should get a hit. I don’t think you can keep up with him for any reasonable amount of time though. I shot the SU24s down on that mission but it was long ago so I don’t remember the specifics. This makes me realize how much a SU24 is needed in DCS. She’s a damn beast....
