My understanding was damage modeling is being completely redone for all modules, so this will be fixed when the new DM is released.
-
If that prevents the wheels from locking up it's logical isn't it?
-
Some1 is right, you control N1 ,N2 or EPR with the throttle not fuel flow.
-
Turn autostart off. Make everyone perform cold starts manually. Problem solved. Also buddy if you wanna blame airquake on the mirage instead of amraams and ETs you should have your meds checked.

US systems share a degree of commonality even between services. The a10 is the closest thing to the hornet and then the f15. If you learn the systems of one it's easy to transition to the other. All these planes where designed like this to facilitate training. The f5 is a wonderful plane but besides the speed has few things in common mainly antiquated cockpit layout,no complex avionics, no auto trim and no autopilot. Very little to transition from. The mirage is pretty limited in ag capability and has a completely different mentality, very little to use elsewhere. You can always get "the other" sim that has an f18 and practice there....

Will Mirage customers ever get to use the Precision INS Bombing?
dimitrischal replied to Joni's topic in M-2000
How do you know if the fm is unrealistic? Do you fly a mirage? Someone said it's unrealistic so it must be? Why are the avionics unrealistic? The glitches are known and well documented with fixes underway albeit late as per Razbam. Who has hardcore aircraft knowledge that claims the mirage is crap? Someone behind a computer who pulls charts or data of doubtful origin out of his ass to prove his point? This is a civilian simulator. Razbam did the best they could with the info at hand and are still working on it. I don't know what else you or the other detractors want. Rant over... -

LoL couldn't have said it better. The bitching has almost reached cult status... -

Wait for what? It will get fixed anyway and it's current state isn't that bad actually. Where are the serious game breaking flaws in the flight model? Out of all the avionics package that works as it should a couple of bugs have been completely blown out of proportion... All you do with waiting is losing flight time with a great plane. -
Not so complex. Come on, basic equipment on general aviation aircraft... The nav suite on the a10 is vastly more complex. As for cost that boils down to personal preference. This is a game changer for anyone who wants to upgrade his game and knowledge above f10 as long as it is intergrated in other modules as well.

Not a rotorhead but the ch53 will be the first not combat asset in dcs if ever made( MI8 can be armed so...). Seems like a huge step forward (or backward) depending on someone's point of view. After the reactions for the NS430 module I can only speculate what the reactions will be for this.

As stated before we don't have blast damage, fragmentation, proper cluster bombs, ground units still have health bars, no napalm, no hyperbaric weapons and very few precision standoff weapons. So yeah a nuke is at the bottom of my list. Couldn't care less. I would want it in a practice munition form i.e. dud but not a piss poor reproduction like the migs'. It only caused problems when used in the Cold War server by disappointed mig drivers and offered nothing more. Also what buzzles said.

AFAIK the mirage III is in razbams plans. It's a perfect addition to the f5/f4/mig21/mig19 bunch and a legendary plane of the golden era of dogfighting. A lot of people have high expectations from it. The D version is a wonderful attack plane but a lot of its systems are still classified so I don't see it happening anytime soon. However I admit that flying the D low and sickenly fast with terrain following autopilot in a modern deep strike setting would be a dream...

which adversaries mingle with the tiger II?
dimitrischal replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: F-5E
This is where you are completely wrong. AI can be a nightmare to fight against since they see/know everything. This is completely unrealistic. Humans tend to make many more mistakes or can be tricked. Of course that works both ways. A really good mig driver will give you a run for your money. -

dimitrischal replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: F-5E
What are you flying against? AI or multiplayer? AI is all seeing all knowing. You will have to use tactics that don't rely on hiding. Try to use the terrain as much as you can. In multiplayer stealth and you superior missiles are quite effective especially against mig21s that have crappy visibility. If you know your stuff the f5 can take on most opponents. -
The tears will flow in rivers and into the sea from what I am reading. :D 4 pages of comments and only 2 people suggested the very logical assumption of finding someone and swapping seats after each sortie or death. I see loads of guys implying they want to "load someone up in the back" to do the radar thingy while they are solely in the pilot seat. How do you think it will play out? Anyway I don't doubt the product will be fantastic and jester definitely won't be the all knowing crappy ED ai but that is not the point. People are fallible. Depending on your skill you can use their mistakes or lack of knowledge to your advantage. A helper ai isn't. It has perfect knowledge of systems and procedures, that takes away from the whole feeling. A crew has to cooperate and fill each other's deficiencies. Jester will be a crouch supporting your incomplete knowledge. Perfect for sp, game breaking for mp. At least for those of us who like the challenge. Maybe heatblur will include customization parameters with jester so that mission makers can have control over its ability so we can have the best of all worlds. We have to wait and see I guess.

Having an ai in the back plowing through the nuances of long range radar operation and ECCM operation while at the same time prioritizing targets engaging them and working your ECM and countermeasures which is a normal for single player sounds and is arcade for multi player. Besides I love the challenge of flying against humans that's why I don't play in servers that populate the game with needless ai planes. I don't care if a novice decides to play RIO. Learning is part of the journey. Remember? I care if someone offloads functions to an ai that are gameplay essential, but then again we have to wait and see because we don't know have it will be implemented by heatblur.
-
RIOs aren't huey gunners. They will operate the most frightening aa radar-missile combo in the whole of DCS so poor analogy. I can see that jester will be godsend in single player but come on... join mp and have an ai managing the whole of radar target acquisition and target engagement for you? Arcade as hell... I said many times that 2 seat is the most important attribute of all these planes that are coming in dcs (f14,f4 or mi24) nothing else is as important. People have no clue about crew resource management and think it will be like hoping on an f15 but better. They are in for a bitter disappointment. I can see endless amounts of bitching when the first 2 seater comes out and no helper ai can stop that from happening.

Am I landing wrong or is there an issue with the F-5 brakes?
dimitrischal replied to crudboy12's topic in DCS: F-5E
The rearm/refuel packs the parachute again. It was patched quite some time ago. No reason not to use it. Try to stay off the brakes until the latest reasonable moment. On real planes excessive use of the brakes lead to brake overheat and even burst plugs on the tyres or brake fires. USAF are in the process of modernizing the brake assemblies on the b52 fleet after this https://www.stripes.com/news/pacific/air-force-mechanical-failures-led-to-b-52-aborted-takeoff-fire-in-2016-guam-incident-1.465157#.WY1qMNG_xvI Stay off the brakes and use every means in your disposal to stop. Not only the brakes. If you want to stop without a parachute just for the fun of it use full speed brakes, aerodynamic braking and tuck under during the final to land as near as possible to the threshold. Then maintain brake pressure without skiding. I'm not sure if dcs reproduces brakes temperatures or type wear though so it's not too realistic. -
why speedbrakes are fanned out during cold start?
dimitrischal replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: F-5E
Well in civilian aviation we have readings in the cockpit so we don't do this. It's a flight crew thing only. I stand corrected. -

dimitrischal replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: F-5E
Ground crew would be awesome but this is a checklist thing. Period. Same with flaps on other planes that are regularly deployed when away from the parking position so noone can prompt you if you forget. Ground crew presence is mainly about engine start, removing external power or air and pushbacks not assisting in aircraft configuration or giving you hints about it . In civilian aviation at least. -
The f5 is hands down my favorite module. It's reproduced to a high level of fidelity, bugs are relatively few and it's just damn fun to fly. This is an old plane, you fly it not a computer, however I find it isn't hard to fly or fight in it as long as you know it's limitations. Level flight, takeoffs and landings are more involved than let's say the m2000 and need some practice but it is forgiving near the limits and visibility is excellent. IMHO it is the more capable of the old jets and its a2a weapons are good(P5) but only 2 and short range, so not very convenient for airquake style mp. It's a2g ordnance is more than enough and I find the challenge of a perfect dive toss more enjoyable than pgms but that's just me. What I found about the f5 is that despite it being a small relatively unarmored plane it's damage model is quite good with hydraulic leaks, fires and other failures modeled wonderfully. Something not said about many other modules. I got in a gun fight with a mig21 in mp and had an engine fire and dual hydraulic failure and the plane handled like you would expect from a crippled bird proving quite a challenge to land. I think you will like it. Every time I fly it I feel much more engaged and challenged that any other module.

Flaming cliffs is arcade, a shortcut to adding content in a game that had none at the beginning. Nothing more to it. It should be a different game altogether. Some button sequences wrong is something easy to happen in a simulator. More so a video game and not something purpose built for governments or airlines. Airbus and Boeing addons that cost much more that the m2000c have mistakes too. And those are based on civilian planes with widely available documentation for decades. The only thing more perfect then rb m2000 says Dassault on the side and is in a room in an airbase. We just have to be patient.

I said before data can be found from other sources. If sales are based and processed outside Russia you are pretty covered. Besides I don't think the Russians will care about an obsolete ac type being represented in a video game. You can get in cockpits of these birds in museums all over the place anyway...
-
You can't have a simulation environment without adequate representation from both opposing factions. The experience will lack in every aspect. Atmosphere tactics variety and more. A way needs to be found around this.

Nothing wrong. And it would sell well.
