  1. Hi BlackLibrary, Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying the AND option is already there? I have tried adding 2 actions in the same window, but the trigger fails. The OR option works fine to specify one action or another, but not both. Regards, Mich
  2. I guess that many of us who regularly build missions have some ideas about trigger Actions or Events that they would like to see altered or added in the M.E. Mine are: Actions: 1.Rocket in Zone, and Artillery Round in Zone added to Missile In Zone and Bomb in Zone. 2. Bomb in Zone fixed to again include the AN-M64 bombs. ( I cannot understand why this was removed. If a mistake then it seems to have been ignored by E.D.) 3. Add Unit engine START and Unit engine SHUTDOWN 4. Add an AND choice to complement the OR choice (to allow 2 or more events to act as a trigger and to allow an "and /or" option). 5. Moving Zone fixed to apply to Trains. 6. Allowing an action to have effect only on its second occurrence. Events: 7. Add black to colour of Smoke Markers. 8. Fixing "Explode Unit" and "Explosion" to more clearly reflect the intensity allocated to them. (In my view, the difference between, e.g. a value of 300 is not noticeably different to one of 500). Maybe it would be better to just have (say) 10 levels of intensity. If you have comments or other suggestions, let's hear them. Regards, Mich.
  3. Hi Jimjam, I fly a lot of self-made SP missions, and I have the same frustrations which you describe. DCS Air-to air combat, which is currently unrealistic and unsatisfying, would be transformed if only these three elements were addressed and corrected: 1. At least 3 grades of enemy skill levels (with clearly noticeable differences in marksmanship and airmanship) and a 4th skill level of "Random" . 2. A.I. aircraft airspeed, climb, acceleration and turn rates reduced to realistic levels for the particular plane. 3. AI aircraft damage corrected to a percentage governed by number of hits received, together with indications of grades of damage (e.g. 10% - light smoke, 20% - heavier smoke, 50% - smoke and flames , 60% - small explosion with debris with pilot ejection, 70% or above - large catastrophic explosion.) I am not a programmer, but believe that implementing the above (at least as an interim measure) would be an inexpensive way of improving a really serious fault in an otherwise excellent sim. If programming the above is impossible or too difficult for E.D. then let them inform us. We have all been waiting a very long time for this AI model to be fixed and it is only fair that they give some clear and reliable indication of their intentions. Regards, Mich.
  4. Last time I set up a train, about 6 months ago (Normandy map) I was able to click the train- compiling icon and place a locomotive with rolling stock using the selections appearing below the loco. list. I tried this yesterday, only to find that after placing the loco. with waypoints, I can't find the various wagons and tank cars that used to be available for selection. Anyone else having this problem? Best regards, Mich.
  5. Help With Arduino Uno and Helios Hi Whartsell, I realise it's a long time since you posted your tutorial, but I am new to both Arduino and Helios. I'm trying to configure 6 on-off toggle switches to DCS. I have followed your tutorial successfully up to "Configure the Board", but it can't recognise my Arduino Uno R3, so I cannot select my board under "EOS Devices". If you are still helping beginners like me, I would appreciate your assistance. If not, I understand. Regards, Mich.
  6. Referring to my post of yesterday, I seek help with the following: Project: To connect 6 simple on/off toggle switches to DCS A-10C using DCS-Bios with an Arduino Uno R3 board. Current State of Project: Latest DCS-Bios and Arduino IDE installed (correctly, I hope). Also DCS-bios -Arduino Library Master Zip, Source code zip, DCS Bios Expanded.zip. All in a folder on desktop. DCS-Bios 0.10.0 shows in my (Name)>Saved Games folder. QUERY: It was not clear to me from the download site which were the essential files, so I installed everything that looked relevant. Can someone provide a list of files required with info on their correct destination location? Switch box completed and attached to 6 Arduino pins and to ground . QUERY Not sure which pins are best for this purpose). Does it matter? QUERY:Arduino shows green ON light but also flashing orange light. What is this? Problem Encountered: I start DCS , Arduino and DCS-Bios-Hub. In Arduino, I click SKETCH > INCLUDE LIBRARY >ADD Zip Library. My USER / (name) folder then appears, but without any Zip folder I can click. This folder does not show the Saved Games sub-folder of my User (name)folder. In addition, I get a message in white on black background in Arduino window "Invalid library found in(user\name\documents\Arduino\libraries\sketch..." etc. I can get no further. Running Win 10 / 64 Thanks, Mich
  7. Hi Xilon, This thread is essentially a wishlist. I'm not trying to argue priority over any WIP. Just pointing out some logical reasons to include the Dakota in the fullness of time. Regards, Mich.
  8. DCS-Bios - Beginners' Help Thread needed Hi to All, I have built a toggle switch box, and have spent many days trying to program a simple physical toggle switch to DCS A-10C using an Arduino Uno and DCS-Bios. I have had some good help from Molevich and have printed and read all the guides and, tried to find specific help in the forums. Although I have successfully installed Arduino and DCS Bios, I cannot install the Arduino library zip, which tells me I have "No valid library...". So I have hit a brick wall. The purpose of this post, however, is not to solve that problem, but to suggest a dedicated beginners' thread for these two programs (and perhaps also Helios); a help site for those of us who cannot get to the start line. Whatever the guides say, these programs, brilliant as they are, are not intuitive or user-friendly. I have no trouble following step-by-step guides, but inevitably I am stumped by some unexpected problem not addressed by the guide (e.g. an option that is supposed to be available but is "greyed out", or missing from a list). Such glitches are trivial and elementary to many users, but not me. General help is sometimes found on the forums, but rarely can one get the specific problem solved. YouTube videos are often great in content, but of poor sound and video quality, and are rushed. In my view those trying to help often over-estimate the capacity of those they are instructing. If we beginners could get really detailed help to just execute one complete elementary task (like activating a warning light or toggle switch) we would be in the race. The more people are successfully helped, the more there are to help others. I hope this suggestion resonates with some of you. If, like me , you are at your wits' end, use this thread to seek help. I am sure the more experienced users will share their expertise.. Regards, Mich
  9. Thanks Molevich. You've given me hope. Will follow your links. Best regards, Mich.
  10. Hi NineLine , Further to my post on 30/11/19, lacking any response, plan B is that I would like help for an alternative, similar project: I will try to program the Arduino Uno R3 using DCS BIOS instead of Helios. All I need is step-by-step instructions to have a single on-off toggle switch activate a function in the DCS Warthog cockpit. (e.g. Battery on/off) I have read the Arduino beginners' guide and trawled the videos but they are either incomprehensible to me, or off-subject. Any help will be appreciated. Regards, Mich.
  11. Yes to C-47 Hi Razor. I don't think that the desire for a C-47 makes you a lunatic. ED has already shown some interest in it as a W.I.P. This was an amazing, graceful and enduring aircraft, of which there are already excellent simulation models in existence. Their relevance to Combat Simulation cannot be underestimated: armies depend upon personnel transport, cargo drops, airborne troops, reconnaissance and even airborne artillery. They are perfect for short, rough airstrips, and could realistically be used on all of the DCS maps, particularly Persian Gulf (for WW2 N. African campaigns) and, of course, Normandy. They can easily be crewed by a single pilot, and would also provide an excellent training platform for new simmers, being stable and forgiving. Sooner or later DCS will have to get into multi-engine props, and I believe that a good C-47 could be achieved more quickly and with less complexity than, say, the Mosquito which, to be any good would need an option for an AI pilot and a bomb sight to allow the player to play as bomb-aimer. Regards, Mich.
  12. Help With Arduino and Helios I am looking for a tutorial on wiring a simple home made switch box (6 on-off toggles) to an Arduino Uno with Helios to act as a simple keyboard emulator. If anyone can help with: 1.The wiring of the Arduino and 2. The necessary profile, I would be most grateful. Kind regards, Mich.
  13. WW2 Mods need correction Thanks for your great contribution. I would wish for the broken WW2- era mods ( such as the Ju 88 and He 111 user mods) to be corrected, as these were really useful for building Normandy missions. DCS E.D. make W.I.P. promises but do not produce much to improve the WW II experience. Best regards, Mich
  14. Civ. Aircraft Mod Hi Monnie, On my system the Civil Aircraft Mod loads, but causes all player -flown aircraft to crash DCS on touchdown, so I have deleted it and have run a repair. Many other good user mods are now also broken (Ju 88, He 111 and WWII Objects for example). Hope corrections are made soon. Regards, Mich.
  15. Thanks Yurgon & Greyman, Have checked the joy's properties and there is a slight twitch when stick is touched. This only happens on right roll, and it is a small tremor which lasts about 1/2 second. I have given it a dead zone which does improve it but not a complete fix. Have contacted the Thrustmaster people for help. Thanks again, Mich
  16. After engaging Autopilot in either Path Hold or Alt /Hdg. the A-10C suddenly throws itself off A/P, especially on a bombing run in CCRP after TGP locks on target. I have carefully trimmed and gently held the stick manually until plane steadies before engaging A/P, but within seconds there is a lurch (usually to the right) and A/P is lost. I am aware of the several posts on similar problems over the years, but in my case these problems have only appeared in the past few weeks. Can anyone help? Regards, Mich.
  17. When landing the Warthog, DCS freezes on touchdown and then blacks out. Task Manager tells me programme is normal. On landing the Sabre it sinks through the runway into the great ocean that lies beneath (very unnerving), and then DCS crashes. These bugs are not intermittent; they happen every time in those aircraft. I have repaired several times without resolving the problem. Hoping ED or someone else can help.
  18. Mine really does crash. Over the last 2 days when trying to load single mission flying Warthog C in Normandy and Caucasus, game loads correctly first and second time but then crashes when almost finished loading mission. I have repaired several times, sent the error reports and tried restarting P.C. but problem persists. I have been using DCS World for several years and this problem is very recent. Has anyone a similar experience? Regards, Mich.
  19. Hi Rudel, I am grateful for your time and expertise. I shall try to edit the file as you suggest. Still a bit puzzled as to the sudden removal of the mod. Many thanks, Mich.
  20. Hi Rudel, Thanks for your reply. I found the download by Googling "DCS User Files", selecting "MOD" in file type, then "Filter". The file appeared there about 3 days ago but since I posted (about 2 hours ago) the download seems to have been removed from that site. I cannot understand why that has happened. In the absence of the file, are you able to tell me how to find the path to where DCS assigns aircraft to countries? Regards, Mich
  21. Markindel's Ju-88 Mod. This useful mod has been re-posted on the DCS User Files site a few days ago. I have been trying to install it with limited success. Have installed the N3D-JU-88 folder in Saved Games>DCS>Mods>Aircraft. The problem is that it only shows up in M.E. as a stationary object under U.S.A. Planes. It is not in any Third Reich or other Axis country's objects lists, and it is not available as an AI object at all. I have re-downloaded and re-installed several times without success and am completely stumped. Would greatly appreciate any help available. Regards, Mich
  22. There have been several posts about the deficiencies of this asset. My own efforts to make realistic missions with it have been frustrating in the following ways: 1. M.E. will sometimes refuse to allow waypoints along the rails in a particular direction. E.g. if you try to send a train East from the rail yards near Houlgate. You have to reverse the direction to satisfy M.E. There seems no logic to this fault. 2. Trains will not stop at a final waypoint even if you set a "Hold" command in the advanced waypoint editor. They just reverse back & forth along the line for ever. 3. Trains will not obey waypoint speed settings, so you can't slow a train as it approaches a stop. They seem to go full throttle all the time. 4. You cannot have a chase (F7) view of a train, so you can't follow it as it travels and see it from various angles, as with other vehicles. 5. When setting triggers, the items of rolling stock (wagons) added to the locomotive do not act as units even though they appear in the Triggers columns as units. For example, if you have a loco with 6 wagons and you want to have wagon 4 as an ammo wagon explode after 8 gun hits, you can't use "Unit hits" as a Condition, or "Explode unit" as an Action. 6. The graphics of the loco's exhaust steam movement are very jerky and well short of the FPS of other smoke effects such as chimneys, smoke markers and explosions. The steam train is an important asset in the Normandy setting but it is spoiled by a failure to attend to a few details. If anyone knows workarounds for the above faults, please post them. Regards, Mich.
  23. Thanks Joey45, Still not working. See attached for how my installation looks.
  24. Hi Joey45, I downloaded your excellent looking unarmed civilian boats, and put them into DCS>Mods>Tech folder. They show up as installed on Mod Manager, but do not appear in Miss. Ed. Would you kindly set out installation steps for me? Regards, Mich.
  25. Merchant Shipping. Thanks joey45, your mods are most appreciated. Any chance of a couple of WW2 era merchant ships (e.g. Tramp Steamers, Colliers, Liberty Ships) when you are finished with Hermes? They would add significantly to the Normandy scenario. Best regards, Mich.
