Problem: On spawn, the cargo doors of the MI-24 appear open for members of the crew who are not the pilot, namely the front seat operator and the door gunner. The pilot must open and close the doors manually every time for them to synchronize across all crew members. Cross tested with 3 people. Tested twice (not necessarily in this track file) with different crew arrangements, replicated each time. Track file enclosed. server-20240126-200842.trk

Not sure if we're doing something wrong or if this is a bug. I have not been able to find anything similar reported either here or via Google. We have two players in an F-14 and a third player in a Hornet. Set F-14 Pilot's radio to 250MHz. (The problem occurs using either radio on any frequency, but for simplicity I'll focus on just the pilot's radio) Pilot and RIO can hear each other on ICS fine. Pilot can transmit to and receive from other aircraft fine RIO can transmit to and receive from other aircraft fine However, Pilot cannot hear RIO's transmissions on the radio. RIO cannot hear pilot's transmissions on the radio Since other aircraft can hear the transmissions, it seems that the keybinds are functioning. Since Pilot and RIO can both hear incoming transmissions on that radio, it seems volume level is fine. The crew just can't hear each other. We've tried it with 4 different players in multiple missions, always with the same results. It seems like transmitting mutes your transmission in your own headset to prevent echoing, but in the Tomcat is actually muting it to both crew members. But that's just a guess. Has anyone else experienced this in a Tomcat? Has anyone experienced this in any other multicrew aircraft? Logfile is attached. dcs.log

I would like to introduce my first mission for the F-15E to you: Operation Iron Hail. A low level, night attack run against the runway at Aleppo. The mission: Hambollah militia groups in Southern Lebanon and South East Syria are increasing their cross border attacks against Northern Israel. So far the attacks have been limited to mortar fire and light rockets, but now the intelligence services received information that Hambollah acquired a large amount of Iranian made Shahed drones - a serious increase in threat level. The first shipment of these drones is expected by air on the morning of 22 October. The shipments will be routed through Aleppo airport. It was decided to prevent this shipment by conducting an anti-runway strike against Aleppo. The runway at Aleppo airport will be destroyed in a surprise attack before sunrise on 22 October. A single F-15E Strike Eagle, callsign HAMMER 710, will be launched from Ramat David Air Base and conduct a night low level attack using Durandal anti runway bombs. As this is a surprise attack, no friendly elements will be near the Syrian airspace during the ingress phase, in order not to alert the enemy. The egress will be covered by a flight of F-15C Eagles and a pair of F-16C Wild Weasels. Required skills: - operate your radio / sel ect radio channels - night flying - Terrain Following Radar - NAVFLIR Mission highlights: + Randomized mission elements, to keep the mission fun when flying a 2nd or 3rd time + Additional mission elements, when flying as multicrew + custom ATC (do not use in game ATC!) + various F10 radio options + hand crafted approach chart and maps + custom kneeboard + single player or multi crew + two miz files for cold start and hot start + 8 page manual in PDF format + >60 quality voice overs *** Syria map required *** +++ change log +++ 21.01.24 no comms in MP - fixed. Please select "Multicrew" from the F10 options, if you fly the mission on a MP server. WSO voice replaced. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3335394/

Could be anything, from a B-58 Hustler, C-130, KC-135, B-52 or a B-1. This is just to get a feel if anyone would be open to purchasing ANY sort of heavy multicrew module. The other thread was confused with just a B52. This is asking on a broad scale, about the heavy aircraft idea in general for DCS. Keep in mind, a new developer team could step up and take the plate with this idea... it doesnt necessary need to take time away from ED development resources.

correct as is ATGM's Don't Launch in Multicrew
Shmegegge 1-1 Aero posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi, my pilot and I were trying to launch ATGM's today and were having issues. All of the systems were running, flares were working so I don't think it was a desync issue. I will attach a short track where we took off in a hotstart, headed to a runway with some target vehicles, and attempted to launch ATGM's. We broke away after my pilot tried the weapon release and fire weapon keybinds. I really hope we were doing something wrong, but if not I hope this can be fixed in a hotfix soon. Possible Multicrew Bug since recent update (July 2021)
AeroDan90 posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
So me and a friend have been practicing LANTIRN bombing with GBU's in the Tomcat (14B) for almost a week and after this most recent update i can no longer see the LANTIRN pod in the front pit, only the TCS will display and i also cannot see any ordinance (GBU 16's in this case) being selected by my RIO, all other functionality is there, he can set waypoints and can lock air targets, he can also use the full radar suite and the LANTIRN himself but it still only displays the TCS for me in the front, other things are also synced such as switch sounds, TID and the tape player are all working fine but without being able to see the LANTIRN and not having bombs being selected for the pilot this removes all A2G functionality for multicrew as dumb bombs are boring for RIO's. (or so I'm told, I always fly the thing) We had ran 20+ successful guided bombing missions in the Tomcat during the week leading up to the update and barring minor issues (desync) and my RIO forgetting to lase the first few bombs.. we have been issue free but after this update we have attempted several times to get this to work but so far we have had no luck. Things we have tried. - Consulting the manual as well as numerous tutorials in case we missed something obvious. - Multiple restarts/reconnects for any possible desync issues. - Starting both from the Ramp (hot and cold), from air starts and from the runway directly. - Multiple missions created by myself in case of file corruption, basic missions, no scripts, no MOOSE. - Having Jester set up everything first. - Having me jump in the back and set everything up (my RIO is new to DCS) and then having him jump in. - Loading in and then removing the LANTIRN with 'rearm' and then replacing it to force it to reset. - Loading in clean and then installing the LANTIRN fresh from 'rearm'. - Setting up the LANTIRN both on the ground and in the air. - Both of us re-installing the F14. At this point we are at a loss, the only thing that is different from when it worked is the new update and after reading through the patch notes nothing obvious seems to stand out dealing with the 14 or the LANTIRN that would cause such an issue, so now I'm here to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue as it's kind of annoying having my friend who is using a trial license for the F14 being unable to actually do anything useful, we both prefer A2G over A2A and right now other than the Hind or the Gazelle (both of which he does not own so more trials needed) we cant really do much together. Hopefully we are just missing something simple but im 98% certain this is a bug caused by the update otherwise the timing of it is ridiculously coincidental. -
Hey there, I'm writing this post, as I thought some newer users may appreciate it, or a sort of PSA if you will. The learning curve involved with DCS, as well as learning your aircraft of choice is a massive task to undertake. As much as it is inspiring to watch a DCS YouTuber effortlessly dogfight your favourite plane or dodging SAMs, it is also quite daunting learning how to get to that same point of skill. Perhaps you've found yourself mixing your training between haphazardly referring to the manuals, scouring forums, and YouTube videos. You're getting to the point in which you've played most of the instant action scenarios and some of the free missions, and feel like you need to take it further; and the option of multiplayer seems more attractive. However, unlike dogfighting against computers, you're operating alongside(or perhaps against) humans, which can feel like a quantum shift. You may be considering online squadrons, but nervous about your skill level in relation to theirs. Believe me when I say this, the vast majority of squadrons love to have more people share in their hobby, and take great pride in training people up. The great advantage of multiplayer, and by extension online squadrons, is the added value of learning, community, and most importantly immersion. When I first considered multiplayer, I was quite apprehensive, but once I joined I never looked back, and my flight simulation hobby is vastly enriched because of it. Learning: This can be a sticking point for newer people, since they feel that they aren't adequately experienced, or not good enough for an online group. This may be counter-intuitive, but in some scenarios, being less knowledgeable and joining a squadron to learn can be better. Ultimately while you're in single player, you don't know what you don't know, whereas when you train with other people, they can immediately identify what you need to learn, or what's not going right. Most DCS modules are extremely complex, and frankly the learning process for all of us never ends; we're all just at different points in that journey. As a newer user, you will massively benefit yourself to join a squadron as they can tailor your training requirements. Additionally, many instructors enjoy teaching, and it further enriches their hobby. The core note here is that you won't be burdening anyone from whatever experience level you're starting from, and most instructors love to teach anyway. Community: This may seem marginally obvious, but actually having people to share in your hobby is great. Flight simulation, let alone the DCS community is quite niche, it's not like you can easily have fellow hobbyists down the road. Instead communities are globalised over the internet as we're all spread few and far in between. Thanks to platforms like Discord, the value of community within a flying group is far greater in which you can jump in and talk to your fellow squadron mates seamlessly. Since I've been part of DCAF, I have made some great friends, and I enjoy being able to share my hobby with likeminded people. Immersion: At the end of the day, the value of flying with other humans rather than AI can't be understated. Whether flying with a human RIO or operating as a flight(or both!), the immersion offered is unparalleled. I'm still always impressed when I'm part of a flight of four in parade formation, as we all collectively work together. Or when you all go into a mission, splash some bandits and return to the carrier, the sense of achievement at the end of it is exceptional, because you all had to work together and thoroughly plan what you were going to do, and reaped the rewards of it. I often find going back to single player scenarios feel rigid and too 'sterile' now, since the only human component is yourself. Like what I was saying over learning and community, flying as part of a group fundamentally enriches the hobby. If you're still unsure, feel free to contact myself either here (or Discord), as well as some newer members who fly with me. This can be a good opportunity to scope out what it's like to join a flying group. We're all part of DCAF(Digital Coalition Air Force): Me: Panny#2973 Vak(halfway through training on the F-14): Aisxos#8894 Deivid(also in training on the F-14): Deivid#3419 Brody(recently finished training and is a line pilot): brodyzach#1944 You can also visit our Discord should you wish: https://discord.gg/RrzuvXXd9M Otherwise, if you're interested in my group, I fly with DCAF(Digital Coalition Air Force) as an F-14 instructor, and would love to help more guys out. We also have F-16 Fighting Falcon, F/A-18C Hornet and AV-8B squadrons, who will be delighted to take on more people. You can read about us here: And here: https://dcafoc.wixsite.com/home Or jump onto our Discord!: https://discord.gg/RrzuvXXd9M I hope for those entering on their journey with DCS, this post can at least alleviate a few concerns about the online paradigm. Cheers, Peter

When I switch my seat from the commander seat to the co-pilot seat, then I often have the problem that the Petrovich AI messes up the flight. Even when I am requesting control quickly, it can mess up the flight stability for a short time or even lead to disastrous results, because the AI does not smoothly take over the controls. The second problem is that my axis are not updated when I switch to the front seat, which can e.g. lead to an idle collective position for a brief time (despite of my options settings to always update my current axis position) until I change my collective to update it. So I suggest to simply grant the player control for the flight controls immediately after switching to the front seat, and properly update the axis positions to ensure a smooth transition during flight in single player. The player can still decide to grant AI control afterwards. Thanks.

Me and a mate just completed event 05 from the multicrew version. There is a sound bug and menu bug when it is time for the take-off checklists. There is a lot of stutters and text blinking, and it last for the entire flight. Is there any way I can in the editor disable that part from the mission? And can the same be done for the fence inn etc. Basically ALL jester checklists? I as a human RIO can perform all those with my trusty pilot. No need for help from AI. Must say, the rest of the coms are good and works It feels natural too. So that is awesome! Just remove the stutters that occur please. Just hop in a multicrew with someone and test it. You get to the taxi to runway part and it starts and never stops. The pilot has flickering of text the whole sortie. The pilot gets a long list of text from top to bottom with dialog text, filling the screen. As the text is promted very often with sound stutter it is audible and visual and takes up the screen and coms. The Rio does not see that, but hears audio crackling and stutters all the way, same for the pilot. Hope to see a solution where AI checklist are disabled for multicrew Some other details: I as RIO hosted the game on my computer. The same computer that I flew with. My friend joined me and was the pilot.

Following rapid expansion of DCAF’s F-14 component, we are looking to onboard more F-14 crewmembers seeking executive and organisational capabilities. If you’re interested in flight leading, planning, training, and leading a squadron, this could be an exceptional opportunity for you. About DCAF: DCAF (Digital Coalition Air Force), is an EU based DCS mil-sim organisation, with numerous squadrons. We take considerable pride in our comprehensive training structure, regular custom missions, human controllers/ABMs/JTACs/FACs, and community. About VF-154: As one of the largest squadrons, VF-154 specialises in the air-to-air realm, with side roles of SEAD and air-to-ground flying the F-14A. Currently, VF-154 has 16 crewmembers on roster with more aircrew cadets in the training pipeline. VF-154 consists of an even share of European and American based crewmembers that come together to support DCAF. Why do we want COs and XOs? The role of a CO and XO can be time consuming but remains critical in the health and running of a squadron. While internally recruiting for the role, we believe bringing in external expertise and skills will bolster the capabilities of VF-154. This also coincides with the intention of standing up a second squadron, necessitating more leaders. What is the fast stream? The CO/XO fast stream is a course led by former COs/XOs and wing staff officers within the F-14 community. Fast stream trainees will be given an intensified course in which trainees will have greater personalised training, taken from line pilot/RIO to flight lead, to flight commander, and eventually XO/CO. This will be over a duration of a few months to ensure prospective XO/COs have appropriately assimilated into DCAF, have good rapport with the squadron, and demonstrate effective leadership and administrative capabilities. What we want from you: - To be at least 18 years of age, - Able to attend weekly ops (Thursday 1830GMT) and additional operations (Saturdays 1830GMT) very regularly, - Have considerable time to put into training within the week, - Be competent with the F-14A, whether pilot or RIO, o Pilots: this consists of being able to capably use SRS and is familiar with radio telephony, can confidently perform CASE I recoveries, conduct formation flying, air to air refuelling day and night, has some experience flight leading, and is readily familiar with the F-14’s capabilities. o RIOs: this consists of being able to capably use SRS and is familiar with radio telephony, has some experience flight leading, is familiar with the vast majority of TID modes including NAVGRID, an awareness of piloting the F-14, and CNATRA P-825. - A willingness and interest in training F-14 cadets, - Be a capable English speaker, - Be willing to use Discord, - Possess a stable internet connection, - Possess good quality flight simulator hardware, including a HOTAS, rudder, and at least a headtracking/VR solution, - A great teamworking attitude. This consists of a willingness to learn and assimilate into DCAF’s modus operandi, a drive to practise in personal time for self-improvement, be willing to take constructive criticism, and a strong desire for personal improvement to contribute back to the squadron. These attitudes precede leadership, - Bring great energy and enthusiasm towards the group and towards individual training, - Some leadership experience in dynamic situations, with an ability to take responsibility, identify faults and rectify them. While some of these traits are definitive requirements, no applicant is the same, and individual circumstances will be considered. What will the fast stream look like? Note: Subject to Change Trainees will enter DCAF’s training syllabus, primarily consisting of V1, V2, and V3. - V1: is our course that all aircrew cadets go through in order to meet DCAF’s minimum standard in partaking as a line pilot. This consists of a familiarisation flight (start up, taxi, departure, straight and level flight, turns, climbs & descents, 60° AOB turns, slow speed flight in landing configuration, high AOA manoeuvring, stall and spin recovery, descent, and landing), visual circuits, departures and arrivals (from the military aerodrome traffic zone), formation flying, day and night AAR(Air-Air-Refuelling), night familiarisation flight, weaponeering and combat readiness assessment. RIOs are different in that they have bespoke components in lieu of formation and AAR. - V2: is our flight lead course. Once V2 qualified, trainees will be able to plan, and flight lead a division of their airframe. This consists of a domestic flying assessment, a decision-making exercise, and a combat flying readiness assessment. V2 will also give you the preliminary capability to instruct most components of V1. - V3: is designed to give crewmembers the necessary skills to become a squadron executive (CO/XO) and ability to teach V2. This goes into greater depth concerning air power theory, sortie management, flight commanding, and instructional technique. Additional syllabus, such as All-Weather Intercepts/Beyond Visual Range and for pilots CQ (Carrier Qualifications) will most likely be necessary. The fast stream will most likely be over three months with the following timeline in weeks: 0 – 2: Pass and qualify as a V1 crewmember before end of second week, 2 – 4: Continue personal training and attend weekly operations, 2 – 5: Undergo V2 training, with deadline before end of fifth week, 6 – 9: Consolidation of V2 training, conduct flight lead and training, attain AWI/BVR and CQ qualifications, 9 – 12: Begin and complete V3 training before end of 12th week. Throughout this time, you will be mentored by experienced F-14 crewmembers who will provide guidance and assess your performance. This is a great and rare opportunity to take your hobby to the next level and have the responsibility of a full-sized squadron. If you are interested, and believe you meet the specifications, join our Discord, and message me, either on ED or on Discord. We’ll have an informal chat to ensure expectations are met on both sides. Website: https://dcafoc.wixsite.com/home Discord: https://discord.gg/dcaf Message me on Discord: Panny#2973 I look forward to hearing from you, ‘Parker’

Overall, the multicrew experience in regards to desync has been great! I do have one issue though. When I am in the CPG slot, my HSI doesn't seem to sync with my pilot's HSI during startup. I have to deslot and then reslot back in after startup for the HSI to work. Attached I have a short track showing the issue. server-20220117-171251.trk
-
Since this seems to be a thing both for the Apache and the Tomcat (of the modules that I've flown personally), I'm guessing this "issue" is stemming from something deeper in the code, than something you can fix in the module itself. Either way: I can't count how many times me, and people I fly with, have wanted to adjust our control bindings, and then figuring out some seconds/minutes later, that we are actually binding controls for the wrong seat. This is of course mostly a problem when you are either the CPG in the AH64, or RIO in the F14 (probably also other modules I have not flown). Would it be possible at all, to make the "adjust controls" options, actually automatically jump to the control bindings of the seat you are currently occupying? So you don't have to change from pilot to cpg/backseat every time you want to adjust controls.
-
As the title suggests I’m an avid F14B pilot and I love using Vaicom and Voiceattack with Nester and AIRIO but it’s time to take it to the next step. I feel I’m ready to crew up with a human RIO flying with me in the back seat. I usually fly after 3:00pm or after 6:30pm most nights Brisbane time. I love to fly in Through The Inferno and the many random missions that can happen. If you are a RIO in training or are interested in learning the F14B RIO seat than please PM me. I’m on steam but I own the non steam and steam version(although all my modules are the non steam modules). I’ve been flying for years and hundreds if not thousands of hours mainly in the A10C, F16, F18, Viggen, F14, JF-17 and Mirage 2000C. look forward to hearing from you! Lets kick the tyres and light the fires!
-
A suggestion/request for smoother hand over of control between pilot and CPG, is to have both set of controls combined additively to the aircraft motion. So that handing over controls is a case of the previous pilot flying slowly easing the controls to the neutral position and the next pilot flying taking more and more of the control input that is being removed. Basically at all times: Aircraft Pitch = CPG Pitch + PLT Pitch Aircraft Roll = CPG Roll + PLT Roll Aircraft Yaw = CPG Yaw + PLT Yaw Aircraft Collective = CPG Collective + PLT Collective

I know a lot of people have been having issues with employing Hellfires in multicrew. Fortunately I think I've found the issue. It seems that when using LMC, the TADS becomes very desynced between the CPG and the Pilot. Attached is a google drive link with trackfiles, where you can clearly see that when my CPG enabled LMC, the TADS position jumps all over the place on my end even if it's completely stable on his. Google drive link with track files since the forums still only accept files smaller than 5MB: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1D-82TLuM81oUHiBPQ1jEEgwFeCTJmmTg?usp=sharing

Hello, I was wondering if the Hind will get 2-player multicrew for pilot and co-pilot, or 3-player multicrew since in the future we will be getting a KORD door gunner with 12.7mm machine gun. Could a third person be here on this gunner position since neither the pilot nor the co-pilot can leave to get into the back gunner from their position, or will it be an AI who will be using this door gunnery position? Thank you!
-
I think ED should allow stations that do not require advanced system handling to be open to everyone. Why? Look at il2 (the sim). It is really popular with its bombers and larger planes. That sim also has multicrew. Every gunner station can be used by ANYONE. It is not locked behind a paywall (you do have to own the game). Why doesn't ED do something like this? I understand the co-pilot has to own the module. And if it was a more modern plane I can understand you would need to own the module if you want to use, lets say a radar or whatever. But stuff like gunner stations or other stations that just don't justify buying the module for that. So i think it would be a good move to allow players that don't own the huey to operate the gunner stations. Some examples with random planes: Chinook: Pilot: has to own module Co Pilot: has to own module Load master: doesnt have to own module any gunner station: doesnt have to own module F4: Pilot: has to own module Co Pilot: has to own module B17: Pilot: has to own module Co Pilot: has to own module any gunner station: doesnt have to own module

Is there any news about developing multicrew for the Mi-8 now that the Huey and Hind have finally figured it out? I understand they are working hard on the Mi-24 and AH-64, and I appreciate this but one of my favorite modules in this game is the Mi-8 and it is one of the helicopters that would really benefit from having a copilot. I hope you can get back to us on your progress or plans for the future regarding Mi-8 multicrew.
