  2. I'll have a look on thursday and see what I can do... The graphics won't be causing the crash... Looks like ED have changed one of the .lua files...
  3. it's very possible that this mod crashes 1.01. ED have made changes to a lot of files with 1.01 and this mod was made for 1.00 I haven't installed 1.01 yet, when I do, I will look and see what has changed. Toby
  4. thx oldflyer... i just got myself a CH Products set-up so I'm trying to learn how to programme that... i got the pedals, the fighterstick and throttle and the difference to the x52 is like day and night... thanks again for your offer.... safe flying.
  5. @cobrabase - download the mod pack i made from this link. Extract VJG73CloudMod v1.0 for Black Shark.zip and then read the included Read Me file. You need to add the "ship" models to your level near where you will be flying using the map editor. Please note, these Mods should only be installed with ModMan.. Good luck.
  6. This skin has been submitted to LockOnFiles. You can find it in the DCS Black Shark Skins Download section. Regards, Toby
  7. I use Flight Director Mode when I want full control. Strafe with the Cannon and use Rockets. Then switch Flight Director off and retrim, quickly.
  8. Wishlist Dear Development Team, When possible, please include the following in the next patch: - Ground Shadows ON/ OFF - Self-Shadowing on Helicopter ON/ OFF - Self Shadowing inside the cockpit ON/ OFF - Cloud Shadows without flickering horizons - No flickering trees at edge of LOD - No more transparent buildings and trees, pls make it work like LOMAC did with TekaTeka's VIS RNG MED mod. Ground shadows kill my performance, self shadowing on heli doesn't, please make these two independent of each other and add cockpit shadows (like in Arma2 and FSX) Thank You for Black Shark.
  9. you can mail it to me and i'll upload it for you.. pm me for my email...
  10. I found them HERE... But the profiler won't install and the drivers throw up an error every time so I'm not really getting anywhere. I've managed to get DCS up and running now but really need to be able to install the x52 drivers so that i can load my painstakingly created profile... Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you, Toby
  11. The saitek site seems to be down... I have installed Win 7 RC 64bit and wanted to test DCS tonight. Can someone pls upload the 64bit X52 driver and profile software somewhere? Your help would be very much appreciated, Thanks, Toby

  16. New Shkval Mod with Testcard Bonus Pack As promised, bonus pack has been made and uploaded to LockOnFiles. Joey and Nate, I grew up in London and I don't know about any balloon. The image of the girl with the clown and blackboard is the only one I know. Soudepp, I think that the original Testcard from ED IS the actual testcard. I just made that one for me because it reminded me of my childhood...
  17. Bonus Pack When I get a minute, I will make a bonus pack featuring a choice of one of the below testcards, edited for DCS... I will post again when it's ready...
  18. I have uploaded two new ModMan mods for DCS Black Shark to the Downloads section at LockOnFiles. The first, based on the same mod by TekaTeka for LOMAC, removes the flickering and dancing shadows on the horizon when haze=1. See this post for more info. The second mod adds a high contrast effect to the Shkval as well as changing the colour of the screen and the testcard. Don't forget to use the dials underneath the Shkval to get the best image. Both Mods are made with the latest version of ModMan and have been tested with DCS Black Shark on Win XP SP3. The Mods will be available after they have been approved. Enjoy.
  19. look at those screenshots... it looks like the development team have sorted out hi-res shadowing on the shark... it looks great!
  20. (Edit 10.07.09 - After more testing, I have improved the gameplay experience and updated this post) After searching for months for settings that give me smooth flight with DCS Black Shark, I've finally found the following set-up which is giving me smooth gameplay in pretty much any situation. I do not care how many FPS I get, for me smooth gameplay is what matters, but I now get between 30 and 60fps with these settings, depending on how much is going on on screen. I can now fly low, fast and smoothly through built up cities without any problems with a butter smooth framerate that does not go below 30fps and, for example, around Gelendzhik a constant 60fps. My set up: CPU - Q9650 GPU - BFG GTX 260 216 cores 4gb DDR2 800mhz Ram Win XP Pro SP3 P5Q motherboard TrackIR 4 Pro X52 controller 30" Monitor at 2560x1600. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I made the following change to \Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\graphics.cfg MaxFPS = 60; I have always been taught to set to MaxFPS 30 but after experimenting, I get the smoothest results with MaxFPS 60. It makes a huge difference with TrackIR and my high screen resolution. and the following changes to \Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua ["water"] = "1", (Optional - removes cloud reflections but does not affect FPS as much as in FSX, it's up to you) ["shadows"] = "0", ["effects"] = 2, ["terrPrld"] = "100", ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Below are my in-game settings. Shadows are the biggest FPS killer for me, so they're forced off in the graphics.cfg file. Textures - High Scenes - High Civ Traffic - Yes Water - Normal Visib Range - Medium Heat Blur - Off Shadows - None (See above) Resolution - 2560x1600 Res. of Cockpit Displays - 1024 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My Nvidia Control panel is set up as follows: Anisotropic Filtering - 16x AA Gamma Correction - On AA Mode - Override Application AA Transparency - Off AA Setting - 4x Triple Buffering - Off Extension limit - Off Error Reporting - Off Maximum pre-rendered frames - 3 Force Mipmaps - None Multi Display - Single Negative LOD Bias - Clamp Texture Filtering Quality - High Quality Threaded Optimisation - Auto Vertical Sync - Automatically On (The final option - I don't know the translation) Übereinstimmende Texture-Clamp Off ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks to the team at ED for making Black Shark. Happy flying, Toby :pilotfly:
  21. - Teka Teka's Realistic Moon Mod - Mitch's Cloud Mod (higher res clouds) Note: After extensive testing, I see no notable improvement using these 2 mods in DCS Black Shark. Regards, Toby
  22. I have updated the excellent Radio Frequency Mod by DidiTopGun with a new radio frequency panel as well as a map of the airports in game. You can find it here in the DCS Black Shark Cockpit Mods section at LockOnFiles. Note: This mod replaces the IAS and Rocket Guide Panels in the cockpit. Enjoy Works with both english and russian versions of DCS Black Shark Install with the latest version of ModMan V 7.1.1.0
  23. @slug88 - haze is enabled and i have been playing with the LOD values but it doesn't change anything. VisibRng is only for drawing buildings and trees, not textures (afaik). Even changing LODMult and LOD Day and night values doesn't do anything... I think ED have changed the settings that the programme uses for LOD compared to LOMAC. I think it must be calling the LOD texture setting from a lua file but I can't find which one. I would really like to be able to increase the sharpness of ground textures. Could you try flying the Altitude mission, speed up until you get to the valley entrance, then see what you think... If it's like on my set-up, the mountains around you look ridiculous and those near you look great...
  24. @slug88 - When haze is enabled, I don't have this problem. The problem then is that the draw distance for sharp textures is too small (approx 2km around heli), how can I extend this without disabling haze? Thanks, toby
  25. @feuerfalke - 4xAA, 16xAF - set through nvidia control panel (not the problem) @slug88 - When i disable haze: 1. Ground textures further away than 1km radius from my helicopter are detailed and not blurred. Without this, all textures further away than about 1km are blurred. 2. I do not have dancing shadows on the horizon I have tried leaving haze at it's default setting of 1 and then replacing the cloudshadow.tga file with a blank alpha. This removes the dancing shadows but does nothing to improve the quality of the textures outside of a 1km area around my helicopter.... Does anyone have any idea how I can get rid of the problem..?
