What program did you use to edit the files? Start again from fresh copies of the originals. And check for duplicate files, DCS may not be reading the one you think it's reading. Go back through the wiki page right from the top and re-read it carefully. Nothing there is redundant, it's all critical. Bed now, will check again in the morning. Good luck.

["aspect"] = 2,57524, use a decimal place separator, not a comma. 2.57524 Your ABRIS is squashed because the height value in test.lua is 384, and should be 768. Are your windows desktop resolutions the same as your game resolutions? Are you sure you're running the phantom monitor fix properly?

@mrneil: Have you read and followed this? It is designed to give you everything you need to get going. Look at the excel spreadsheet on that page. You are using Vista, so you can't use fullscreen. Windowed is your only option. As you have an asymmetric setup, you will need to either run the phantom monitor fix, or configure a phantom. I recommend the former. I'll post your numbers tonight if you haven't got it sorted. You've got a very standard setup so it shouldn't be the slightest problem to get going.

Foolproof hovering: - ensure all AP channels are active. - During approach, press and hold trim. - Come to stable hover, still holding trim in. - Release trim and quickly centralise controls. - Press auto hover. Done. If you have any drift at all, quickly tap trim again after the AP begins correcting, but before the AP overcorrects (resets the INS hover position).

I'm feeling very slack. That's it! I'm doing my targeting control panel this weekend. -
Anyone who ever played Pacific Fighters

lol fair enough, you're right it does look way better. I might try it your way - ribbon is such a PITA to duct. -
Curious about this. I run X52 on Win7 64 RC as well, and I've not experienced any control peculiarities that I would (or even could?) attribute to the OS? What is it that makes you think that your OS causes you control problems?

Curved base/final turns are typically flown by military aircraft, as distinct from the 'square base' flown in civvyland.

Sorry I couldn't be more help Fakum. I really don't think it's possible to relocate the UI elements, I believe it's compiled in. Thinking outside the box, do you really need the trim indicator? I've never used it. If it's the only thing causing you grief, maybe you can learn to do without it? I don't think you have much of a choice with multimon anyway?

Ordered mine from Mindscape in Aust, delivered in less than 48 hours. Very happy.

On your numbers spreadsheet, cell B21, shouldn't that be 1200? I'm confused, you keep changing your main monitor resolution. One minute it's 1280x1024, then 1600x1200, then 2560x1600. I think you're causing yourself a lot of trouble by doing this. Pick a resolution and stick with it. When you have a config for that resolution that works exactly as desired, save it off, and then experiment with a different one if you want to.

I'm so jealous. Glad you got it going. Do you have your Q6600 overclocked? Makes a big difference. Mine went from 2.4GHz to 3.2GHz without so much as a burp. And a new GPU will help you a lot with the huge resolution.

Not strictly true, though I can see how you got that impression. My main concern is losing yet another high-fidelity sim maker - and history is on my side here - because they were commercially unviable. Piracy is one aspect of that, under-selling their product is another. A community that didn't appreciate that it's much cheaper to keep an existing sim developer in business than to help another break the barrier of entry is another. There seems to be an attitude that if one hi-fi sim developer tanks, another will take its place. I'm not so sure. And I don't want to be playing Awesome Jet Combat Extreme on the DS because there are no other options.

If you ever could have your own private jet...

An EA-6 Prowler 'cause a) it's beautiful and b) it's got seats for the whole family. And a Tiger for the commute. -
Fair call. No campaign, just an idea. As it turns out, an unpopular one. I'm big and ugly enough to accept that I'm in the minority.

Goodness, what a hornet's nest. Maybe I didn't explain well enough, but I would imagine that single player would be just as possible, except that there would be a heartbeat to an authentication server to play "offline". Maybe even that heartbeat only needed to be established every 5 sessions or something, I dunno, it's just an idea to stop the rampant piracy that is killing the industry. And the ashes ain't over yet :D Yes, quite. But as you said, one can't argue with success and DCS certainly seems to be successful. I suppose I just feel guilty about getting so much replayability out of something I paid so little for. I come from a world where there are no free lunches, and you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay a little extra and have DCS around for decades to come, than have them tank and have to start again with someone else. My reference to MMORPGs was an analogy to the success of the client/server model, nothing more. Good grief. Same category? Are you on crack? Analogy. Quite - can't argue with success. Nonetheless, one can't be complacent either and I hope that the suits and ED/TFC are at least considering ideas such as this, even though, by the response, they are further outside the box than many people would be comfortable with. Analogy. And I know exactly what the accessory costs are for sims. I don't want this to go to waste because flight sim developers keep going out of business, because the community wants so much and refuses to pony up for it.

Note that Mike Powell's second book is about to be released, which has details for building your own interfacing boards. http://www.mikesflightdeck.com

In case you missed it in the other thread BaDCrC: your multimon numbers. Make sure you use the phantom fix exe, because your main display isn't centred. Awesome and inspiring work by the way.

multi monitor picture request !

BaD CrC: your numbers are attached. You will need to run the phantom monitor fix exe, because your two side screens are not the same width. The wiki has everything else you need. Good luck! -
I'll forgive you for that one, seeing as I called your AI "rubbish" not long ago :D I disagree (obviously) that it's ridiculous because the model works so well elsewhere. Even Fighter Ops' Area 51 subscription was successful, despite there being no product to speak of (and please let's not get into FO bashing). It may not be right for DCS, nor may it be top of your list of tremendous insights, but that doesn't mean it's not a perfectly reasonable idea. Fair play to you sir. I'm rather glad that sims don't make me pay monthly to play, because right now I get hundreds and hundreds of hours use out of a product that I pay peanuts for. Compare that to folks who spend $100 on a console game that they get maybe 20-40 hours play out of, and the sim world does spectacularly well.
