  1. Amen. Overclocked my Q6600 to 3.2GHz, bought a new mobo, another 4GB of DDR8500, a 9800GTX+, and a triplehead2go. About to move to Win7_64 as well, so an OS reinstall too. So far. Next might be the fastest Core 2 Duo available. if that doesn't get me 30FPS on medium with the TH2G and ABRIS windowed in Win7, it might have to be a Core i7, 4870x2 and DDR3. :o
  2. Sorry mate, made it myself. Really very very simple - a piece of folded aluminium plate, 5 momentary buttons and a couple of rotary encoders, hooked up to a betainnovations gammarayv2 keyboard encoder. The gammaray makes it really easy, all the key mapping is done in software. You could do it easily with a nostromo or something if you don't have a keyboard encoder. Really any sort of programmable keyboard.
  3. Hi folks, Tonight I was playing the sample COOP 4 mission (the long ingress over the mountains - what's it called?) and had some problems with the datalink. The other lad was set as ship 1, with kommander set. I was ship 2, with what I believe is wingman tx/rx set (one notch anticlockwise from kommander, right?). So I lased a target, hit "vehicle" then "mem". It appeared on my ABRIS. Then I hit "vehicle", "send to all", then "mem". Shouldn't that have appeared on the kommander's datalink? It didn't. When I switched to kommander/1, and he switched to wingman tx/rx ship 2, and I repeated the dlink send, it worked. Was I doing something wrong trying to send as wingman? Cheers
  4. AI is pretty terrible really. I mean if I was humping through the bush and my mate exploded in a pink mist, I would probably not go "huh? oh well, keep walking, maybe it won't happen to me." Self-preservation instincts really shouldn't have to be programmed by mission editors, there should be default behaviours in the absence of specific orders.
  5. It all fell out, it's lying back there on the grass with your main gearbox.
  6. You guys live long enough to land?
  7. Thanks mate, yeah I just got out of it after a 90 minute mission and it was brilliant. Pretty much everything works, I love the ABRIS bar, it really adds to the immersion. Easy to make too, why doesn't everyone do it? :)
  8. Share? My A-A evasion works the same as my SAM evasion. Get dirt between me and the missile.
  9. Are you sure that the problem was that you had not adjusted it? I have never adjusted the avi resolution, and it has worked in four different configurations for me - I always leave it well alone. Are you sure you didn't accidentally change it, then change it back to default and it suddenly worked? Or maybe I've just been incredibly lucky or something.
  10. Can't you program your encoder to send the same keypress when you "unselect" the toggle?
  11. Yep it works: But the framerate sucks on a 2-GPU Vista windowed setup.
  12. Reaper, can you please post with what was tripping you up in the end? Was it a silly error in the config, or what? It might help the OP. Same ace, was the "force alternat frame rendering" thing the only issue, or was there something else that you changed to get it to work? Again, it might help the OP. Cheers
  13. *sigh of relief* Now I wonder how the OP is getting on...
  14. ace, there's no reason that's not possible. You can't use fullscreen in vista, check out the excel posted above and that will give you some idea of what you need to do. If you've exhausted all your own efforts, post the monitorsetup and your config, as well as a screenshot of your windows display settings and your specs, and I'll try to help. There's no prescription, you have to understand what the config is doing. It's not hard, just take the time to try to understand what the numbers mean. cheers
  15. I find this very interesting at the bottom of the default export.lua: -- you can export render targets via shared memory interface -- using next functions -- LoSetSharedTexture(name) -- register texture with name "name" to export -- LoRemoveSharedTexture(name) -- copy texture with name "name" to named shared memory area "name" -- LoUpdateSharedTexture(name) -- unregister texture -- texture exported like Windows BMP file -- -------------------------------- -- |BITMAPFILEHEADER | -- |BITMAPINFOHEADER | -- |bits | -- -------------------------------- -- sample textures : "mfd0" - full SHKVAL screen -- "mfd1" - ABRIS map screen -- "mfd2" - not used -- "mfd3" - not used -- "mirrors" - mirrors If I read that right, it is possible to network the ABRIS and Shkval...
  16. but does it work now? pic!
  17. I've uploaded the excel file to the VAAF wiki: http://vaaf.net/wiki2/index.php5?title=Image:BS_monitorsetup.xls All care taken, no responsibility accepted. Please report any bugs.
  18. try that. there are 2 "aspect" directives - one inside the "avi" container which you shouldn't touch, the other inside the main graphics container which you should set to (total width incl phantom)/(total height) Note that using the big centre with small abris, you won't be able to see the multiplayer menu icons at hte bottom. You'll have to set your main screen to 1280x768 if you want to play MP. Like this:
  19. aaah.. ok. Here's how I calculate it: If you want the excel, send me your email address in a PM.
  20. In my experience you'll get better results using both screens off a single card rather than one on each. It makes no sense, but it's the facts! I cna't see an issue with your setup, it should work. Maybe post the actual config files you're using to double check?
  21. Can you screenshot your windows display settings for me reaper? There's no reason yours shouldn't work exactly the same as mine - Vista32 with the config exactly as posted on the wiki there. Just like this: Are you guys using Notepad++ or similar, or windows notepad to edit the files?
  22. not YET :)
  23. I get what you're saying, but only last night I caught a SAM launch on one of my wide screens and managed to get hull down before it hit me. The peripheral vision is very helpful IMHO. Less so in a fast jet, but when you're in a helo in the weeds surrounded by people who want you dead, the more you can see the better. Notwithstanding the enormous FPS hit... -- rup
  24. Yup I run Vista as well and windowed is all we got, so it will definitely be possible accepting the FPS hit of running windowed. Do you disable Aero for extra FPS? I heard that works, but it does the opposite for me. I'm also thinking of going to Win7 64-bit to use all my 6GB RAM and get a more streamlined OS.
  25. Shrubbo, I had a TH2G on order (though they borked the order and I have to find another supplier now) and I'll definitely try it with a single centre view at 200 FOV as that seems much more natural. With my current setup of 4 screens on 4 heads, that was the only way to get all 4 screens happening. You're right, the left/right views are a bit funny and apart from a) increased situational awareness and b) uber cool factor, are a bit redundant with TIR. Also hannibal I should note that I've turned off the left/right screens until I get a TH2G. I don't like 17FPS any more than you, I was just pointing out that if it's possible to get 17 with my hardware (Q6600, 9800GTX+, 8800Ultra) it's possible to get 30+ with better hardware. For me, I get more out of a single centre screen plus my ABRIS than a super-wide slideshow. If I have to choose between the left/right screens and the ABRIS screen, I'll put the extra 2 LCDs into a racecar pit :)
