  1. I believe this is an error, P27, Flap Switch: AUTO. Without Weight Off Wheels (WOW), leading and trailing edge flaps are scheduled as a function of AoA. With WOW, leading and trailing edge flaps and aileron droop are set to 0°. The conventional term is Weight On Wheels so I assume that just needs to be changed. It doesn't make sense to function with AoA on the ground and 0' in the air. It should be "with weight off", or "without weight on".
  2. With WoW and Flap AUTO, the flaps are set to 0. Once you were shot off the cat, they act as a function of AoA.
  3. Basically my problems as well. The rule of thumb for pulling G in the crosswind turn was very helpful - pull G to your airspeed (so 350kts, pull 3.5 G). I never leave the HUD during that turn - I set flaps to full before the turn (the FCS takes care of not overspeeding them), and I have the gear mapped to my Warthog throttle so I don't have to take eyes off the HUD. Really important to anticipate that sink when you turn base, it can mess up your approach very quickly. It's tempting to extend your downwind to have more time, but you do then end up in a long groove and have to hold altitude to intercept the glideslope.
  4. So while connected to the shuttle in takeoff configuration, I hold the T/O Trim button until the trim stabilises on the FCS page. I still get a Master Caution when throttling up, and need to add more nose-up trim to clear it. Is this normal?
  5. I'm streaming and clipping every carrier landing for grading.
  6. This was your very first post at me in this thread: ... son.
  7. Calm down son. This is both a) the documented procedure and b) worked perfectly in the past. Bignewy's vague caution came after several of us had apparent success with the official update procedure. Are you suggesting that the official updater regressing us to a previous version is expected behaviour? You're aware of course that DCS does this behind the scenes the first time you launch it each day?
  8. If you look back through the update process which I posted screenshots of, I followed the documented and official process to update using dcs_updater.exe. It is not fine. It is regressing openbeta installs to 2.5.1.
  9. dcs_updater.exe is the tool supplied by ED for that very purpose. Here's the official thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 One of us is misinformed, I'm not certain it's me.
  10. By forcing an update do you mean using the supplied updater .exe after the release notes were posted and the module was alerted on the ingame store? You guys knew full well people were F5ing the updater, and this warning only came after some of us had apparent success with the updater. Which as it turns out seems to be regressing our installs to a previous version. I understand that release day issues happen, but blaming users for the problems that seem to be clearly related to an error in the release management process is a bit of a kick in the balls. If the regression busted my install it's going to be Friday before I'm in the Hornet. Try and imagine how that feels.
  11. My torrent folder showed 2.5.1 so I cancelled and I'm going to bed a little pissed off.
  12. Checked on my own d/l and I have the same 2.5.1. Cancelled. Guess I'm going to bed and will have to start the d/l again in the morning. Maybe I'll get to fly it Thursday night. sigh
  13. I've only seen one post from bignewy and it didn't say anything about 2.5.1?
  14. I think we just pressed the button in a very narrow window. I'm down to 30k/s so it's definitely not playing nice yet. bignewy I'm happy to cancel if it's causing a problem but I have to go to bed so I'd rather leave it up if possible.
  15. It's varying from a crawl to 1MB/s. Not sure if I should cancel based on bignewy's post.
  16. Mine is updating via torrent, but slowly. Should I cancel?
  17. My updater just started working. Preparing to torrent. Aaaand torrenting. 7.5GB. See you in the morning. o7
  18. DCS 2.5.2.17978 Update 1 for Open Beta per the release notes
  19. My guess is the module is live but the required update is not yet, and the auth servers are getting hammered.
  20. I imported the PDF into Adobe Indesign and added the labels from there. You could probably do the same in GIMP or whatever.
  21. Could you give Wags an escort to work for us?
  22. The Leatherneck Tomcat anticipation thread announced at post #754.
