Hi, I've just realised, after hours of thinking my script was bugged, that a Lua script that is updated "behind the scenes" isn't refreshed in the .miz file unless it's removed from triggers and re-added. Does anyone have a sneaky trick for forcing DCS to update scripts in the .miz? Thanks *edit* also thanks to the guys behind MIST and Witchcraft, you rock.

Based on the cats and ducks clue, plus the ground radar, I'm betting on either a Viggen or a MiG-23. The -23 is a swing wing which might be their thing after the Tomcat, or of course being a Swede Cobra might favour the Viggen. Re the third, there have been some clues about a Zero, or possibly a Hellcat. I seriously hope that Grumman aircraft become LN's thing, because the A-6 might happen.

I had seen that, and I hope LN have access to the design doc. With some luck they might even be able to contribute some of these ideas to that doc.

Without wanting to necro any of the other older carrier ops threads, this seemed like as good a place as any to revive the discussion around what is your idea of necessary features for playable carrier ops. Try to keep it to features that are realistically worth spending dev time on rather than minutiae. Also I know this is more a DCS thing than a Leatherneck thing, but I'm assuming Cobra has some influence now with the Tomcat so. If Cobra could post in here at some point saying "I can't say much, but you are all going to be very very happy with what is coming soon TM" well, ya know, that would be magical :) So to kick things off, a few of my ideas: - AI LSO comms and logged grading (a la vLSO for FSX) - OLS which compensates for different aircraft hook-eye distance and ship pitch/roll - shore-based OLS for carrier quals - AI PriFly comms (and/or player controlled Air Boss with Combined Arms or a similar Navops module?) - AI yellow shirts on the deck - foul decks that take time to clear each time someone fails the "rectum non bustus" test - obviously working wires and cats

Is there a diagram somewhere showing the bounds of the NTTR map? All I've seen is 600x600km ish.

As a TM Warthog owner, I am enthused by this: -

So now we know what the cat is, the speculation must be around what the duck is. Both the MiG-23 "Duckbill" and the Saab Viggen ("tufted duck") fit the bill (heh) and both are strike aircraft presumably with A-G radars. My heart is still going with the A-6, but you'd have to put money on the Vigg given Cobra's heritage. Waddle (heh) it be? -

Does this mean that the Tomcat will have a PFM, but the actual Phoenix missiles will have an AFM? Or that the Tomcat will have a FM somewhere in the middle between an AFM and a PFM? -

Cobra, how about a kickstarter to get Anthony Edwards to voice the AI RIO? -

TBH high fidelity simming is a more vibrant market now than I've ever seen, and I've been into high fidelity sims since the late '90s. DCS has to take a lot of the credit for that. -

MiG-23K Duckbill, F-14 Tomcat, (Cats and Ducks) both variable geometry wing ("sort of" fixed wing), carrier capable and similar era. So what's the third one? Hype train rolling for an F111, but my guess is a land-based -23 variant like the MLD. Back in 6 months to see if I'm right :) -
Information is a little sparse with Gadroc's forum down. You can try the project on GitHub and there is a new subreddit for Helios devs here: http://reddit.com/r/heliosdev

I created a subreddit for Helios Dev if anyone wants to collaborate. http://reddit.com/r/heliosdev . Includes a wiki.
