VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
ruprecht replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Before the hotfix this mod took me from ~25 fps to 40-45fps in my usual TTI MP server in the Huey and Hornet. Yet to test post-hotfix. 9600K / 32GB / 1080 / Rift CV1 Thanks OP! Is there any chance you can document the process for doing this on GitHub so if you lose interest in maintaining them, others can continue the work? -
Hey, can anyone show me how they have Viacom Pro set up to work with the Huey and SRS? - VoiceAttack options / PTT setup - Viacom options / PTT setup - SRS options / PTT setup - DCS options / PTT setup The interplay between them is doing my head in. I can't get anything to work in the Huey, though I have Viacom working ok with the Tomcat. tia ( @Hollywood_315 )?

Mate, I'm glad it's not just me struggling to see the lineup from 3/4 mile. Champion. cheeky :)

I wasn't referring to IRL. In the current DCS Hornet it behaves as I described.

[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE] radalt tied to baro pressure
ruprecht replied to ruprecht's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hmm.. it's possible this was my error. I'll double check in the morning thanks. -
steps to reproduce: - place HUD alt in baro mode. At altitude, adjust standby altimeter pressure until it reads incorrectly 500' too high. - drop to 600' pattern altitude and set HUD to radalt mode. Observe that the supposed radar altitude is off by 500' and you are actually only 100' off the water. Radalt should be independent of the standby altimeter pressure setting. Can anyone confirm this isn't just me?

I have (once) had an issue with extreme nose up and not responding well to forward stick, but I've done many cat launches after hot refuel/rearm and I don't usually see any difference. Is it repeatable every single time for you?

The first bomb hits the point you designate. The rest hit according to the interval, past that point. Same with Auto.

I wonder if this is even a thing though. If two aircraft are in the groove, I presume they can each see the ball at the right position for them - which means it's either physically modelled or its implemented to be player-specific. In the latter case an export is possible, but in the former case it's not. I assumed the former case, which is why I went down this more circuitous route.

So I understand it's much easier to see the ball in RL compared to in the sim, so I'm thinking about how to build an IFLOLS in hardware - basically a bunch of green, amber and red LEDs that light up in response to my glideslope to a carrier. I figure that with: - my x/y/z position and heading - data for the offset of the pilot's eyes from the aircraft position (aircraft specific) - the carrier's x/y/z position and heading - data for the offset of the IFLOLS from the carrier position ... I should be able to calculate the angle from the IFLOLS to the pilot's eye, and thus light the appropriate ball LED. I could technically also extrapolate from that whether I was in a dangerous flight regime (e.g. a big settle in close) and flash the waveoff lights. And only turn the LEDs on when I was say within a mile and behind the carrier. Plus simulate the lineup lasers. It's been years since I touched Export.lua, and I'm pretty sure I can easily get the ownship position/heading, but wondering if you can get that data for a specific world object (i.e. the carrier). Also, I suppose multiple carriers might confuse things. Any thoughts?

Legend mate. One quick one: p36 Radar Altimeter Low Altitude Pointer - the RL advice seems to be to set it to 370-450' for carrier landings. 370 will sound at the point of rolling wings level in the groove as a ball call reminder, 450 will sound at the 90/crossing the wake. Also referenced on p68 step 59. p74 the last dot point, I thiiiiink NWS is available with the launch bar down, but not high gain NWS. Maybe someone else can confirm, I'm not near my pit at the moment. p76 point 9 - I believe hydraulic pressure is used to extend the launch bar against a spring, and the bar is mechanically held down by the cat shuttle after the switch is set to retract. Once shot off the cat, the mechanical hold is released and the launch bar flips up.

Sure you didn't have your speedbrake out?

MK-20 vs CBU-99 and Tank Busting
ruprecht replied to Wallace_Actual's topic in Military and Aviation
The CBU-100 bomblet shaped charge penetrates ~ 7.5in of armour. It's designed as an anti-armour weapon. -

Thanks. Yeah I can only stream 480p for another month until my fibre arrives. If it arrives. Thanks for taking the time to grade, and for the tips. Working on stabilising my ball control and catching those late settles. Wasn't planning on a night landing, it got dark real quick while I was gunning reds at Dubai Intl!

my date is still clenching grading welcome

Jar if I wanted to use the LSO view and overlay on a MP server (say TTI) I just need to make sure there's a Huey to sit in right? Or is there some funky scripting that needs to be done in the .miz to tie it all together?
-
Amazing, thanks Jar. Going to try this right now.

If anyone's keen to track their carrier traps, I've made a google sheets greenie board template that might be of use to you. Make a copy and use as you like. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s9ZLGIFiuCD_58oh0WhBUH7r_8e7q4ZwzODsVPtCIrg/edit#gid=0 Thanks to the VFA-113 Stingers, A.E.W. and others whose guidance were used to compile this.

2.5OB is working fine in the Gulf for me and many others. Only stutters are in MP when a new player joins a fresh jet. Are you sure DCS is on an SSD?

[NO BUG] Default TCN 1X Not Transmitting
ruprecht replied to NineGravity's topic in Bugs and Problems
The carrier TACAN is set as an advanced waypoint action on the carrier's first waypoint OP. Never encountered the Stennis requiring A/A mode.
